Just a daily reminder everyone

I'll be honest, I don't even really consider gaming my hobby anymore. It's like I've finally crossed the "old man" threshold where it feels like nothing (in this industry) is made for me anymore.

I'm 25 years old...
Yea the only games made for adults are made either by completely independent developers or by people who are just breaking into the mainstream with a really good game, only to have its sequels dumbed down for idiots and/or become riddled with microtransactions, season passes, and crafting DLC.

And that is really stupid because I think developers like Bethesda who dumb down their games for kids are just patronizing those age groups. Kids are smarter than Bethesda thinks, and at this rate even they will start calling Bethesda's games "dumbed down garbage."

Bethesda's marketing thinks its fans hate reading. When asked about a Morrowind remake they apparently said that the walls of text of Morrowind would never be accepted by Skyrim fans - finally admitting that they don't make games for their original fanbase.

Then id say youre looking in the wrong places. Good games that suite my extremely judgemental taste are still being made. It is sad that i have to sift through a sea of shit to find them but that doesnt mean they aint there. And hell, there are always older titles youve never tried. I played 5 games (that in the end i couldnt fucking stand) in a row
And got real blue about gaming and then i tried Age Of Decadence for the first time and I've been having a blast with it. Choose games carefully but also be open to new ideas you havent tried before.

There's games that are made for people with half a brain, they're just usually made by indie studios with only a few AAA exceptions. It's a sad state of affairs that AAA generally makes garbage for idiots, but at least there are other developers trying to make up for that.

Only AAA title i can think of that is damn good is Dark Souls.
And their only AAA sin is waaay too revealing trailers. In 3's you can see the final sequence, dammit!
Include CDPR and Nintendo (when they feel like it) too

Meh, i dont care much for cd projekt red. Their first game had such atrocius gameplay that i feel reluctant to play the 2nd and dont want to spend 25 euro on a glorified hacknslasher(tw3) with childish "sex on top of a unicorn" shock appeal.

And i never got into nintendo so i cant saywheter theyre good or bad.

i thought people play souls game because of the story? /s

I think from all the people who defends Fallout 4 we had around here, probably two of them had some actually arguments and could keep a discussion about it. I don't know what happened to those members, but I assume they just got frustrated and go hangout in more pro-bethesda/fallout 4 communities.

I was probably one of the two, but then I gave up on liking Fallout 4, as it all 'caught-up with me'.

The other was some schmuck called @Slayerite.

I meant spoilering, rather. 90% of the bosses are there :C
And rather REplay for the story, the first time in any of the games is kind of blurry what's even going on

In regards to the first game; what story?

Its so vague and barely there that it might as well be non existant.
there is story and deep lore, for those who want to seek it. rather than direct exposition, it uses enviroment as storytelling device. Basically of what MrbTongue describe in his Shandification video

Isn't this something Fallout also tries to do?

I didnt see much of that, to me it just came across as a gamey gameworld.

I've never played Dark Souls. It's one franchise that I simply can't become interested in. As an outsider, it just looks like a series of repeated frustrations as you fight mob after mob and then the occasional boss fight that you have to repeat 100 times until you finally win.

But at least it managed to make 3 games that its fans enjoyed. Glad to see Dark Souls 3 was successful and wasn't turned into a crafting game like Fallout 4.

But Fallout 4 did see initial success and was an OK game. It makes me cringe to say it, but it's a good game, not a good fallout game. ._.

My friend could give you a number of reasons why its OK and not complete garbage.

People have been saying this since Day 1 and I used to agree with it probably out of some refusal to accept that it really is garbage.

The game was designed to make the most money possible and nothing else. It's a lazy cash grab with the worst writing of any Bethesda game ever made, hideous dialogue wheel and cutscenes, an utter lack of choices and reactivity, terrible weapon sounds and lack of weapon variety compared to previous games, and the list goes on an on.

People can keep saying "it's a good game, just not a good Fallout game" all they want but I'll certainly never see it that way. Wanna know why it's not a good game? 50% of the Season Pass is paid mod crafting DLC. That alone makes it a garbage, lazy cash grab and terrible game. The game cost $100 and took 7 years to make by a major studio with an enormous budget and support.

If it was a good game I'd be playing it. Instead, I can't even be bothered to reinstall it to experience the remaining DLC. I actually own DLC for this game that I will probably never even experience. So yea, it's both a bad game and bad Fallout game if it's so bad that I'm not even going to play major content for it that I already own.

I've even posted about the positives of the game, and tried mental gymnastics to make it "a good game, just not a good Fallout game" but now after all this time I just see it as an awful game and utter disaster. When I was playing it, I cringed so hard at the childish writing and dialogue that I frequently just quit the game. I've never experienced a game with such terrible writing that I did that.

Of course, that's just my opinion. No one wanted Fallout 4 to be great more than me, I wanted it to be the best Fallout RPG ever made - but it's a total disaster in my opinion. Go play Fallout: New Vegas after playing Fallout 4 and then compare the quests, weapons, writing, dialogue - it's the best way to show how ridiculously lazy Bethesda was with this game considering New Vegas was made in less than 2 years.
