Justine Henin/no more cigarettes

Think you can make the next flight to Bucharest, I'll be waiting for you at the airport, I'll be the guy holding a huge sign that says "Smoking Rocks!" Can't wait to meet you! :P Hope you can pack real quick!
No seriously guys, is anyone feeling like a betting pool?

Yeah, it's going to be over real quick.

Quitting smoking for me is a bad idea.... The cigarettes keep my mood fairly even when one of the three idiots i work with ask me stupid ass questions.

you would think with a mimimum GT of 110 these people would be smart enough to read a manual written at a 6th grade level.

maybe i SHOULD stop smokeing for a couple weeks... the edgy and easily explosive attitude that accompanies me on all my little "quit smoking trips" could be interesting...

no... no.. I like my rank, and i'm pretty sure putting someones teeth into the back of their throat would get me busted down pretty fast.

Believe me, Elissar, when I tell you that I know what you mean. This has only been the second day and I'm explosive as hell. Almost everyone gets on my nerves and I'm sweating like a pig on fire (whatever that might mean). Most people - understandably - don't really get how hard this is, quitting smoking. I've smoked for ten, almost eleven years and I was smoking one pack a day (Marlboro). If I rolled my own cigarettes (Van Nelle or sometimes Drum), I smoked even more (probably because I really, really like the flavour of fresh tobacco). Giving up a nasty habit like that is like having to miss your best friend: it's damn hard. People who make fun of that should grow up first and talk later. You know what and whom I'm referring to, right?

Nevertheless, I think it's worth the effort. This nausea and this sweating and this empty feeling will eventually go away. Just like some of the newbies on this forum will eventually... go away. :)

If someone were to link the address of the noobs to a person who's currantly going through nicotine withdrawls the noobs would drop like flies.

Edit: only problem i could forsee is keeping the person suffering from withdrawls from lighting that congratulatory cigarette.

You've got a point there.

Yeah, it's going to be over real quick.
If only your hands could stop shaking for just long enough for you to smite me! :P
This has been fun and all but I say we call it quits. I am sorry if I have caused you too much grief and I wish you good luck on your quest to rid yourself of that nasty habit. :sorry:
One more thing: after you will succeed in kicking the habit you should make shure that you stay as far away from annoying idiots as you can. I have managed to kick the habit but then I went to school where I found my friend who all smoke and a bunch of idiots who really got on my nerves. I lasted like 2 days. That was a depressing moment. I hope you will be stronger than me. Once again good luck! :ok:

I seriously think it's impossible to be any weaker than you. Peer pressure never influenced this guy. This is day 3. Don't you come near me now...

You know what, I don't even care what you think! At least I am not behaving like a woman with PMS. :P You can say whatever you like about me but I really wish I could be there when the withdrawal really kicks in and your hands are shaking like hell, the sweat is flowing down your face, and all you ca think about is that pack of smokes you threw in trash can. Then you will cave in and go for just one more  .
I'd pay a dollar to see that.

Jesus H. Christ, you're a pussy! Cold sweat?

BAHAH!

I smoked for a good two years (and a healthy amount too) and it wasn't *that* hard to quit. I mean come on man...sheesh.

What were you, twelve?

I've smoked since I was 15-16. I'll be 28 in March. Only 3 days ago I was smoking up to 20-25 cigarettes a day. Don't make fun of something you apparently know shit about, Malk. Thought you were a little bit different than the rest, man. What is it with you people, anyway? Can't you just show a little support, here, just for once? I'm the one who should be saying: "Jesus H. Christ! What are you people? Insensitive pigs or what?"

Maybe you said smoking isn't cool and stuff, and it isn't, I agree, I've had a stupid, bad habit for the past ten years or so, and it's my own fault, but if this is all you guys have to say ("Hey, let's see how long it takes before BR caves in" or "Man, you're one pussy", then please:

I'm not overreacting at all. This is hard. I can't say anything else if that is what I'm feeling, right? So, if you can't at least show a little support and a little trust in what I'm undertaking here, don't bother posting in this thread.

You never had a problem, Malk? You the perfect guy? You never had a problem you posted about on this forum, expecting at least some help from your "friends"? No losses in your life? Everything going well? Well, that's just fine with me, really, everyone deserves a good life without any worries at all. But no: Blade Runner asks for a little support and a whole bunch of assholes starts making fun of this - and pardon my French, but flaming is all I can do if the only thing you guys do is making fun of this.

You know what I would really have liked: that just someone, just one person on this forum had the decency to treat me right in this case. I'm really disappointed in all of you (well, except Sander and Elissar, that is). And this is the last time I'm posting about something personal on this forum. Most of you guys are just a lot of "blah blah blah". Thanks for nothing: that's something that I will have to say a lot in this life, apparently.

Now, one of the mods can put this thread in the vats or lock it, because your comments aren't worth shit anyway! Fucktards!

Look, I am really sorry if I was that big an asshole, which come to think of it I was, but I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. The thing is that men tend to lack empathy and I certainly am no exception. Please accept my apologies and understand that even if I often am an obnoxious little prick I don't do it out of cruelty or with bad intentions, it's just that sometimes I just can't help myself.
I just want to say that I have faith in you and I know you are going to pull this off. You have my support and my solemn promise that I will not tease you any more.

Thanks. Let's bury the axe and smoke the peace-pipe...

D'oh! :wall:

@Blade Runner:

I've found that the best way to help someone I respect is to leave them alone when going through a hard time. Apparently that's not what you want, which is cool. FWIW I support you and anyone trying to kick the habit. Problem is, neither myself or any of my close friends are smokers, so its hard, for me at least, to give advice.

I hope you're successful in your endeavor.

<insert some cheesy line like 'buck up!'>

Quitting is tough. The first time I managed to doit I lasted 6-months. I've been smoking for about twenty years off and on. The most success i've had was quitting on a friday and sleeping through the weekend as much as possiable. I wouldve stopped for good if it was'nt for my tank crew beeing a bunch of retards. So godd luck in the endeavor.

Damn, some of this thread is hysterical.

Sorry Blade Runner, I haven't been paying attention. You have my support.

If it's any consolation, going cold turkey is hard. You might want to try the patch. But at least you're trying.

My father died before he was 47 because he smoked two packs a day since he was 18. He left behind two kids and a wife. This was long before all the notice that tobacco products are so dangerous and while the tobacco companies knew about it but kept it secret. This is why tobacco execs should burn in hell.

You don't want to be dieing of lung cancer do you? You don't want to keel over of a heart attack before you hit 45?

Quit. It's better for you.

Find a distraction. Playing a new game might help break the addiction, but get your mind off it. Trust me, I am on a diet and I love food, so I am feeling a little of your pain.

Guys, jokes aside, a little support might be nice.

Asking for sympathy on a board is often like asking piranhas not to nibble while you go skinny dipping. If you don't want to be flamed, don't fan the fires. Blade Runner if you want support from friends, send a PM to them. Putting out a request for sympathy might not get the response you want. Sorry.

That said, let's be kind.

Montez and UJ- you can vat this if you think it's appropriate. But for now I say keep it up.

Good luck Blade Runner, and I hope you crack this thing. You're too good a guy to let a pack of smokes take your life.

Anyone who can offer constructive support, please post.

Hell, Blade, I feel your pain. I'm 18 now and I picked up smoking when I was 12 (yes, I know, I was a fucking stupid punk-ass kid); and I haven't been able to shake the habit since. My most succesfull endeavor was two weeks, after which my girlfriend, my best friends, and even my father (yeah, I'm not shitting you, even my FATHER) begged me to pick up smoking again. I was the biggest freaking asshole you cold EVER imagine...

If it helps: the physical craving for nicotine will be gone after two weeks. Problem is: the psychological need for a cigarette (f.e. to 'cool off', to 'help digest', to 'go with your beer') is harder to shake off...

But: you've got my full support. You're my hero. No shit, you are. I'm so freaking weak I've put off quitting smoking till my (future) wife gets pregnant...

How fucking lame is that?

Anywayz, if it gets to you, I'll come over to your place and remind you what cigarettes do to a guys physical condition. (We're in the same city anyway  ) I'm skinny as hell and I can't run five kilometers anymore if my life depended on it... Only two years ago, I ran five kilometers three times every fucking week...

Justine Henin-Hardenne kicks ass BTW, nice to see skill and talent beat power, I think that even if the Williams sisters comes back in force she'll win more than she'll lose against them. Same reason why I like that it was Federer rather than someone like Roddick who won the men's tournament.
