Well its not like they were just random guys with AKs, they were retired soldier and para militaries, but I agree. In fact, several terrorists were able to slip away for that exact reason, no one could tell they wern't just part of the angry throng of ex military which was being used to cordon off the area. They wern't being used for anything other then crowd control and roadblocks in conjunction with the police, but still, they did add to the confusion.
As for the elite AT teams staying in Moscow, I've heard that too, but not from anyone credible. The biggest concern is the lack of units designed to handle this sort of situation. I mean, they have units designated as specialists, but from what I've heard, they have not recieved much in the way of special training, equipment or anything really. This strikes me as particularly odd because they have to deal with this sort of thing on a regular basis.
One of my friends is very concerned her unit will be sent into Chechnya. She's already lost 4 brothers there and does not look forward to the prospect. She will know very soon if thats whats happening, and when she knows I'll be sure to give everyone here the heads up as it would be a clear indication of whats going to happen next
