Killap's Fallout 2 unofficial patch - final version

Oh, Frith, do I have to update NMA's version again.

Blegh, I hate work.
Sorry. It is my fault for not thinking through everything as I was changing the shopkeepers. Still, I really do hope there won't need to be another update.

Does this patch fix the bug where you can't get the best ending for Gecko?

In the nearly ultimate fallout 2 guide it says:

"The best ending for Gecko, which would require you to optimize the plant and get the Gecko Holodisk from Gordon after talking to the Brain, is impossible to get due to a silly bug in the endings script."

Yes, check the included corrections.txt file for a full list of bugs fixed.

I hate to do this to you, but with the onset of your last main release, I started a completely new, clean game, and already I've spotted some bugs.

My intention then, became to play through in a manner that's going to take a bit of time, since it involves a LOT of saving and loading in order to really nail down every bug/glitch I can find and to try to compile the most complete and informative information about them as possible.

So, I suppose the question would be, would you rather I send them in "as I find them" (perhaps grouped by area/town or the like), or just get through it all (which I'd guess might take a week give or take a bit) and then send it in?

Some of the things I've found thus far are pretty minor, and nothing so far is really *that* big a deal, but I figured as the aim seemed to be "bug-free Fallout 2", I should make note of them big or small.

Eh, let me know.

Small update everyone. From the unofficial patch thread:
This newest update is like pure gold :)
Rate of encounters isn't that surrealistic now and its 2x more often comparing to F2 with "official patch" (which is great)

Please post the items in the unoffical patch thread. You can send them in chunks, but please group by town.

Well, we'll see how minor they are. If they are typos, textual color inconsistencies, meh... If they are quest related bugs then post away. In any event, post them all for the sake of keeping a record.

Great to hear. I went through it again with the newest encounter rate and it indeed was much better. Not sure what I was thinking about before.. :D

Will do. I've been keeping a notepad log that's basically arranged like:

**Area [ - Sub-area]
::Person / Critter / thing / Whatever
--Bug 1
--Bug 2
--etc

(repeat as necessary)

So when it's all said and done, it should be pretty easy to navigate. As I get fair-size chunks finalized, I'll go back and edit them for legibility and clarity, then post 'em up.

I haven't been taking a magnifying glass to typos or the like, I've been mostly combing out quest bugs, exploits and the like. I'd probably only even notice typos and the like if they were either pretty glaring or possibly if they were tied to some game-play bug I was trying to nail down the specifics of, which would make them jump out a little more.

I'll just keep listing whatever I find, and then clarify and put 'em up in sections as I get areas done. Takes a bit of time, since often I have to keep a plethora of semi-redundant saves so I can keep going back and forth trying different approaches and whatnot in order to really figure out exactly what's happening. Of course, I expect you're not exactly a stranger to that concept yourself. ;)

hey, i got your patch and started a brand new game as well. i've found only one bug, it was in trapper town, when you get the key to go to the north side, i talk to whats his name, and the dialog for him giving me the key is there, but the key isn't in my inventory. that guy is about as observant as a a rock however, and pickpocketing him got me my key, but i thought i'd let you know so you can check it out for yourself.

This has been reported and I am looking into it. Thanks for reporting though and do post again if you come across anything else.

On the same questline, if you get the key from the dog in the main part of town, the man in trapper town doesn't even mention the quest.
