Legendary Fallout modder Prosper interviewed

[CHARISMA] Hey, i'm legendary modder and i'm not banned. Why don't you interview me?

I'm not a big fan of modder interviews, but I would love to give more airtime to dedicated modders on NMA.

Any ideas you guys got feel free to shoot em over. Editorials, art showcases, even interviews, would love to hear it.

It kinda depends on what the mod focuses, or whom of the team (if there is a team) you ask the questions I think. I for one would be interested how the writers in in mods (like Mutants Rising) think of pacing, story elements and whatnot, their stance on tropes in RPGs etc.. I'd be interested too how or if people changed engine mechanics so that it fits to their vision of the game/mod.. It ofcourse strongly depends what kind of mod that is.. If it's "just" some ammo mod or so then yeah, I'd have no idea too what to ask there. Also, I'm not sure if other NMA users (non-modders) would be interested in it. :/ But anyway, aren't you the journalist here? :smug:

Not until you say that you're trying to accomplish something so ambitious that you're most likely not going to do anything.

As of this day, I'm going to make a brand new Fallout game on my own, with liquor and blackjack and hookers.

I call it Pimpout.

Now where's my interview?

But it wasn't made by one man.

I even have high-end concept art.

Good, now all you have to do is get banned from the Nexus and you'll get an interview. :D

Edit: I got banned for saying Fallout 3 sucked in the Nexus chat, so that might work for you too.

Couldn't Prosper be given his own unique thread, but be denied access to the rest of NMA, that way we have a chance to see the holy prophets great work. After all he is considered a legendary Fallout modder... :P

I like how many people here have no idea who Prosper is. Heh. N00bs. Moobhs neverh ahafhafh.l0-0-

,...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We often do modders' interviews for our french website :
- audio only
- voice over video

Audio only are for our monthy podcast, related to fallout and some other post-apocalyptic content like rage, fonline etc..
Voice over video are for demo videos of the mod. We capture a few minutes of the game and we mixed it with the audio interview of the author of the mod.
An example with Ardent (in french ofc) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVBk35c_TqU

In the case of Nma website, i don't know if audio or video content is appropriate since everything here seems to be text-based :D But things are changing and maybe it's time to move on !

Jokes aside, i think a podcast should be a really good idea for NMA.

Why everyone likes podcasts so much? I've always found normal text interviews much better, because of at least two reasons:

1. Easier to understand.... because you read it.
2. If you search something some day, you don't have to listen to every podcast, you can simply do a text search.
/edit: 3. If you want to tell someone about something from the interview, you don't have to make a transcript of the podcast, you simply copy&paste the text.

You are right Lexx and i totally agree with 1), 2) & 3) but despite this obvious benefits, people prefer podcast instead of reading because they can do things while listening to the podcast.

Reading on computer screen is.. somehow exhausting when you have huge amount of text. People always told me : "I really like your podcast because i can listen to it in my car, in the subway, at work or whenever i want, i don't need to stay in front of my screen in order to get some infos."

In fact, in usual text-based interview, you have to cut massive amount of text in order to keep it "palatable" for readers. With audio, i can really push the interview further, ask for their feelings, about the intention behind, and keep talking with the guy for 40 or 60 minutes long and still be listenable (i usually add some fallout-related music too). I think 5 minutes of audio equals to 2 pages of text, thats really a lot.

I think audio can be an extension of what text can do, and you can easily use the both. For Mods, you can keep the background related facts, the lore etc in text and use audio and video demo, for show ups and interviews.

Nah. I've never liked podcasts but they're more or less a thing of the past already. No one really offers audio-only interviews anymore, everyone puts video beneath it.

Unless you want to, like, jump into iTunes and stuff. But consider me uninterested.

But what if you're just another PR android who
1. doesn't want to be understood properly
2. doesn't want his/her nonsense to be found later during some text-search and
3. doesn't want people be active and exchange infos and opinions; you want them to be lazy and stupid/arrogant? :P

Okay, I'm a bit over the line here, but just a funny thought :) I would gladly hear a few modder opinions about some issues in the modern (PC) gaming industry.

I'd never heard of this guy before, he seems to talanted but he must have been a bit of an arse to get baned from the nexus. Could some one post a link to his old post on this forum?
