Lonesome Road coming September 20th + weapon pack DLCs

Is that a re-skin of Autumn's coat as well?

As it us US military stuff, it makes sense to use the same base model.

The only weapon mod I use is the classic Fallout weapons mod that adds all the stuff from Fallout 1, 2 and sadly, Tactics.
All I wanted was a Winchester Citykiller :D
But yeah, it already has a Bozar, too.

In any case, I feel that players will get a very good value for GRA. There's a lot of cool stuff in it.
Bullshit. $4 for the amount of money that went into that DLC is plain extortion, even more so when you look at Valve with their free updates to L4D1 & 2 (new campaigns) and TF2 (which now has a cash store). This shit should cost a fucking penny, maybe a nickle.

I don't see the difference between this,

album_pic.php
[/spoiler:68f83d586b]

and the vanilla Fat Man.

Probably more range. It will be useless, though, unless they put more ammo in the game (14 shots?)

So, in the game so painfully easy, they have added even more weapons? More Kids-pampering stuff?

I find this somehow funny:)

What about more sidequests, better AI, more substance - you know, real gameplay?!

Oxen...

That's what the other DLCs are for. This is a DLC for gun nuts.

I will probably ending up getting the weapon DLC, new weapons, ammo types, weapon mods, and other things? for a measly 4 dollars, cool.

You can get all of those things from the Nexus for free.
Two thirds of the fanbase of NV are console players.

They can't even get the simplest of mods, so don't go around talking like there's free content available for everyone, some have to make do with what the developers give them.

And what are they giving them now`? More weapons. Since a console player's only way to get new weapons is through DLC's it must seem like gold to get 27 new weapons for just 4 bucks.

And yea yea yea, PC elitism bla bla get a PC yadda yadda yadda whatever.
I got a PC and I used mods so for me it's fine, but I still have the memories of console days, where I looked at mods on the computer and sighed in sadness as they were locked out for me.
So while I and you might have PC's that can run NV it doesn't mean everyone does.

Very good point, Fish. I've browsed the four pages and the amount of bile is staggering. Being critical is fine, being an obnoxious whiny elitist is not. I'm starting to think that NMA's reputation is earned, rather than thrust upon.

I don't mind the Gun Runners' Arsenal, not one bit. I'm a collector and I like the variety, especially when it is consistent with the rest of the game art. I don't like browsing the Nexus, because good weapon mods consistent with the art style in New Vegas are rare. Classic Fallout Weapons is a prime example of a shoddy mod, as it features a lot of guns, yes, but they are either poorly coded (missing ammo types and magical neverending mags as a result), poorly done (photorealistic textures ripped from eg. STALKER, mismatched animations, low quality textures and models) or have another flaw (eg. crappy inventory art or sound effects). That's assuming they work in the first place.

I don't mind the price tag either. Sawyer isn't going to hold a gun to my head and force me to buy the pack, so it isn't "extortion", "cheating" or any other dramatic hyperbole that surfaces in the thread. I *choose* to buy it because I like well done additions to my arsenal that fit in nicely and are guaranteed to work. The 1.99 Euro I pay means I'll just have to skip getting that ice cream cone tomorrow.

I simply don't mind these DLCs. Maybe that's because I carefully watch my spending and so far, there was only one (1) such DLC that I liked enough to spend my cash on: the costume DLC with Mr Forrester for Killing Floor.

Except it's 4 €. And frankly, I don't see how any criticism about the pricing (which is very sound business sense but very poor from the point of view of offering value for your money to the consumer, especially when you consider that other developers would offer an update like this for free, see e.g. CD Projekt RED) has anything to do with NMA's reputation? There's nothing elitist about wanting a fairer treatment for buying customers.

There's a difference between saying "Well i don't think it's worth 4 USD" and going on and on about how it's crap and how everyone is an idiot who's buying it. Or how it's just for idiotic consol kiddies or anything like that...

It's the same difference between oraganizing a coordinate legally allowed protest march in front of a TV station because they dropped Psycho Dad and forcing your way into a station to force them thorugh other means to bring the series again.

I'll wait and see what this Weapon Pack will add (i hope somebody is going to buy it and put infos about it in the wiki *G*). If i like what it adds i might buy it. If not, i won't simple as that.
I took the same stance with the other DLCs and i will do so in the future with other DLCs.
You guys should be old enough to know that the utility of things is different for different people.

I'd like you to point out where I ever argued about "console kiddies" and "idiots" because, otherwise, there's not much point in quoting me and saying that. There's no collective hivemind here, there's not even a loose group of people associating, just people who happen to express vaguely similar idea in different terms. Those who did in terms that are not allowed have already been notified/vatted, so yeah.

Even if it's 4 Euro, I'm still buying. That means I miss out on two ice cream cones. Big deal. I've seen less content offered for a similiar price. Dawn of War II wargear DLC all cost 2,49 Euro a piece and they're a fraction of what the GRE offers. Brink customization DLCs cost 1,50 and they offer merely a handful of purely cosmetic changes. Or maybe Hearts of Iron III add-ons, that are, again, purely aesthetic addons that add more sprites to the game and are 1,99 Euro a pop (and there are about 30 of them?). Though the most insulting are CoD DLCs: eg. the Stimulus package, which contains the privilege of playing a few new maps for the price of 13,99 Euro.

When compared to this, the Arsenal with 27 new weapons, 40 new weapon modifications for existing weapons, 18 new recipes and 29 new ammo types (eg. 12 Ga. Dragon’s Breath, Hive Missiles, and 25mm/40mm Plasma Grenades) and 20 new challenges is a lot more bang for your back than other DLCs in a similiar price range. Sure, some companies offer this stuff for free, but Obsidian's publisher does not.

So, all things considered, this *is* fair treatment of the customer.

Edit: Made some calculations. There are 151 weapons in vanilla F:NV. This pack adds 27, adding 18% more weapons. There are 71 ammo types in vanilla F:NV. GRA adds 29 more, a 41% increase. There are 52 weapon mods in vanilla F:NV. GRA adds 40 new addons to existing weapons, a 76% increase. Raw numbers speak for themselves.

I quoted you failing to see how the general tone of the discussion might influence the general picture on the NMA forums.

And no, NMA is in the mind of people not just a platform of different people saying what they think. It's something more unified. Simply because people tend to think in terms of groups and not individuals.
Therefore muslims are terrorists and westerners are imperalistic, commercial (?) pigs. Oh sure, some people might say that they're enlightend enough not to generalize, but in the next sentence most of them start speaking of how "[enter some group] allways do [enter some fault]".
It's simply how the human mind works.

You usually get ice cream cones so you have something to skip in order to justify paying for other nonessentials? You wealthy bastard.

I'm not going to buy Gun Runner's Arsenal, but I'm not really the target audience. For the console players that love Fallout 3 though it should be very popular and make them a lot of money. People who are more interested in role playing than running around and killing things, aren't going to miss out on anything important or interesting if you don't buy it.

I probably will be buy the Courier's Stash because its so cheap and it should help change up the beginning of the game some, I'm kind of sick of the Weathered 10mm and armored vault suit.

I think Obsidian has done a brilliant job of bridging the gap between mainstream console gaming and more traditional PC RPG players and have done a great job a creating a game appeals to both. While this DLC might be lame, Dead Money or Old World Blues aren't and exist because this sort of market exists for them to be sold.

Wait, so 4 pre-order packs for 2 dollars are more worth to you than 27 weapons + ammo + mods + other crap for 4 dollar? :>

Assuming they are available at the start of the game, yes. I've played through the game several times now (I tend to do a lot of shorter runs through the game to experiment with a lot of different character types) and really could use a change of pace at the start of the game. Later in the game there is already a huge variety of equipment to use. Also, $2 is less than $4.

I might change my mind on Gun Runners if the challenges are interesting or the weapons and ammo types are more unique than expected or fit well with a character type I'm trying, but for now I don't have any obvious use for it.

Given the publisher's previous history, could've been worse. I myself most likely won't get anything outside of Lonesome Road. I have hard enough time choosing weapons with the amount that originally was in the vanilla version, having 27 more options isn't going to help my case. .-.

So you actually want to start the game with all that?

:revolution:

You should hold out for a mod that puts a button in the middle of the HUD that just says "WIN" on it.

The _ONLY_ parts of my playthroughs of FONV that were drastically different (and enjoyable because of it) were the beginning parts of the games where I had to make something out of nothing and scramble to do so in the wastes with a newbie character who's stats and lack of gear forced me to find other ways to play than running right through groups of enemies and blowing them apart.

by level 10 or so, that challenge and the fun that went with it is mostly gone, weapons abound and you can kill almost every human that comes at you with a variety of builds.

Starting off with all sorts of fancy weps and armor that you spent money to get outside of the game seems even less useful to me than the stupid canteen which ruins the entire dehydration mechanic right out of the box.

I'm playing on a console, so holding out for a mod isn't going to do anything. I already have the classic pack so I start with just about the best weapon of the group already anyway and a good armor, so it won't change the game balance significantly, but it would be nice to start the game with a decent shotgun, melee weapon or explosive weapon if that is the type of character I want to use. Wearing a different armor at the start would be nice too.

I've been there, done that with scraping by at the start of game, by voluntarily not using the weathered 10mm and it was fun, but its not a challenge anymore.
