Lonesome Road delayed and first screenshot

WorstUsernameEver

But best title ever!
We didn't even have a release date, and Jason Bergman had just argued that people who didn't believe the last Fallout: New Vegas DLC, Lonesome Road, would be coming out in August were paranoid, that Bethesda announced on their forums that it won't come out this month after all.<blockquote>Hi everyone,

We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won’t be out this month. This isn’t due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things, and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date.

We don’t have an exact date yet, but we’re working to get it out as quickly as possible. We’ll be announcing the final date, along with a couple of other interesting FNV-related items in the near future.

Thanks,

The teams at Bethesda and Obsidian </blockquote>"Interesting FNV-related items"? I smell a Game of the Year edition announcement.

Update: To make up for the delay, Bethesda has put on on their official blog the first Lonesome Road screenshot:

"Working" = waiting and sitting on an already finished piece of software? Ok.
PR people gonna PR.

You know, I'm not surprised, nor mad anymore. They're waiting for the exact time they think the DLC will sell the best, after other titles. What they're doing is disrespecting us, fans, that's what it is, and there's nothing we can do.

Bethesda, can't live without them, can't live with them.

Uhm. Okay.

Wonder what the "couple of other interesting FNV-related items" is. Maybe moar DLC?

I can be wrong but I think the 'problem' is the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution around the same time.

Is that plausible?

Man, that screenshot is lame. That's the best teaser they could come up with? Avellone's Twitter pic is better than that.

Not really surprised by the delay. Not that bothered either, sounds like it might be good, but not that good.

I wonder after the lukewarm reception of the first 2 DLCs, then the great reception to Old World Blues, that they're re-thinking this one somewhat.

Screen shot looks good.

pfft was anyone surprised? We didn't even have screenshots or trailers and we were approaching the middle of the month. But whatever, I still can't even buy Old World Blues yet, so delays are not a problem because I am not even gonna be able to play them on release month.
Are you sure that is a Screenshot? it kinda looks like concept art, but I need to go replace my glasses so I don't know.

Same ol' Fallout 3/New Vegas roads' low-res textures, same assets, aliasing issues here and there, yup, it's a screenshot.

we can see train on that screen. maybe it's "transplatation" of another idea from van buren to fallout new vegas...

It could be the insane certification process Microsoft forces them to go through.

So what does this process exactly detail?

First, the combined billing costs for all the SKU's is around $80,000. If the publisher doesn't think they can make that money back right away they don't release DLC. The timing of other more popular releases or if the previous DLC came out too recently will have an effect. Also, Microsoft has direct access to the number of units sold in all DLC and how many people are playing the game at any given time. If they aren't pleased with the numbers they pressure studios not to release anything, including patches. An extreme example of this is Duke Nukem Forever. Gearbox was able to release a patch for the PC version but not the console because the certification process and high cost is blocking them every step of the way.

So, what do you guys think, will GOTY come out before 2012?
I have no idea how long it took for 3's GOTY to come out after Zeta, and I can't bother looking.
