Lonesome Road Holotape #2

The second of the weekly Lonesome Road Holotape recordings is now available on the BethBlog. This holotape details Ulysses' travels to and from the Big MT from the Old World Blues DLC, and can be found in Lonesome Road itself. Like the last one, it is marked by elliptical speech patterns, logging in at 1:53 in length.
The Fallout New Vegas DLCs have been a unique opportunity to do short stories in the Fallout universe, and a rare opportunity to know, for certain, you’re going to be able to do a series of adventures, with a clear ending. As a narrative designer that allows you to do something rare in the game industry – foreshadowing across multiple titles.

As an experiment, we decided to use this opportunity to tell an overarching story in the Fallout universe, and let the player see firsthand the wreckage left behind in the tracks of two couriers, from your Courier, to Elijah, to Christine, to the Sierra Madre, to Graham and the White Legs, to the Old World madness of the Big Empty… and lastly, the road that leads into the heart of the Divide and the player’s past through Ulysses’ eyes.

This is the second holotape your Courier can discover in Lonesome Road, and helps put Ulysses’ journey to Big MT in Old World Blues in perspective. It was another accident sparked by what happened at the Divide, with far-ranging consequences.
Direct link.

The trailer is coming tomorrow..

hmm learned that the storms of the divide are actually sourced from big mt (who knew? -_-), and that 'the brotherhood woke it up'.

hmmm...

Six days till release, and we still don't have a trailer. Why? Some super smart marketing move or something? :o

Well they usually release the trailers a week before, often on Wednesday or Thursday.
So I guess at earliest we will probably see it tomorrow (14 September)

Hmm, maybe it was the Midwestern or Eastern Brotherhood that woke up the weather station at the Divide. Wouldn't put it past the Eastern BoS to do that...

i bet that "brotherhood of steel" will appear even in Fallout 5, 8, 10 etc.

leave them alone, they are cool, but, u know...

Tomorrow, Tomorrow

Uh, I'm pretty sure Ulysses mean Elijah and Christine. Chicago and DC are really, really far away and are a non-factor in the Mojave.

I liked Cross's VA work in the OWB holotapes, but these two don't sound as natural as those did. Like, I can understand him speaking like that with another person, wanting to choose words carefully and not give anyone else too much information. But there's no reason to be like that all the time in these tapes.

Also, the way that Cross says "crater" is really annoying.

Maybe Elijah is more likely, but hey, you never know if the Eastern or Midwestern BoS stumbled onto the Divide on their ways east.

Not to ask a dumb question(apologies if discussed elsewhere), but what was the pattern of the flag markings? Red -danger, blue not?

Well unofficially the real world colors mean "White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice."

So Ulysses could have used those guidelines as markers for things he considered useful / dangerous / innocent / worthy of using in a new society....

I am curious to see how this all ends finally. Shame you cannot take Ulysses on as a companion... unless by some crazy change of fate they allow it.

And yeah, I doubt it was the central or eastern Brotherhood. More than likely Elijah... maybe the group at Hidden Valley?

Agree. With as little time and treasure that I've invested in FO-NV, this acoustic tease tickled my plot synapses in a reflexive / reflective game of diagram the dots.

A parallel sample in the evolution of sleaze / tease. Warning, curves ahead ...

4Too is still my favourite poster, after all these years. Great tease indeed.

Ah, how can I become one of your favorite posters? :P

Anyway, that weather station, I wonder if its a place we get to visit in Lonesome Road.
Also its location, the Divide is West from the Mojave while I always thought the Big Empty was South from it, that the train tunnel south from the Nipton Drive In connected to it.
