I could see this going either way. Animation could mean that he's taking an artistic approach to the movie (like A Scanner Darkly - though as pointed out earlier, it won't resemble A Scanner Darkly). Or, it could mean that he's nerfing it. There's a lot of good stuff in Anime, if you're able to look past the annoying garbage. The question is, which is he going for?

Pokemon was a fun show aimed for children and early teens, until Americans fucked it up that is. Same goes for a lot of other stuff.

As far as going in the opposite direction works, I only know one or two works by Westerners in anime that exist and are famous, both somewhere in B+ range rating-wise.

That said, Mad Max conversion to anime will be painfully bad, most likely, so I'm hoping the guy misspoke. There are decent Japanese PA shows, but they go in a completely different direction.
 
Well, I'd say that watching e.g. Highlander 5 was quite an entertaining experience, precisely because it was such a bad movie. Compared to it, Highlander 2 is a pretty decent flick.

Maybe this could be good.
 
I think if they'd do it in a style of the Final Fantasy animated movie - it would be better. Realistic rendering and all. I kinda liked FF movie actually.
 
I still cant get over that Mad Max 4 will be animated.
Dammit.
Well, perhaps it will be good.
But i remain sceptical.
