Mass Effect 2

I just tried the PS3- demo, and it seems like this is yet another hugely overrated piece of multiplatform shite. Featuring annoying combat with cowardly enemies who regenerate health faster than the guns do damage to them, the most idiotic conversation system since Oblivion's "spin the wheel and they'll like you"- minigame, by making conversations a reflex test with no time to actually think about anything, and a generic storyline, seen in only 2000 different products since the 18th century which is ingenious only if you compare it to the storyline of Modern Warfare 2 or Oblivion, this game is definetly not for me.

Vorcha - Either Headshot them or take out their health reg with fire or warp.

You have infinite time to answer with the dialogue wheel.

Fallout has a pretty generic storyline when it comes down to it.

Wow, I think you are very harsh on the game Puokki. Your right, of course, but I just do not understand the complaint about the conversation going too fast, do you confuse it with Alpha Protocol? And the enemies who regenerate either have low HP or do not seek cover to compensate, adding a bit of variety, becaue it's true the combat could become somewhat repetitive after some time. The story is admittedly not ME2's strongest point, but I would not call it generic, simply executed with a lot of flaws and not focused enough. Generic is too vague a term when stories are concerned because nothing truly new ever arises in this department anyway.

Also, having played all of them, the PS3 version is by far the worst in terms of.. well everything, and they chose pretty bad parts for the demo. So you had the worst ME2 experience possible :|.

The whole improved visuals thing is really just slightly different lighting systems between the two versions. And a Xbox copy plus all DLC is cheaper than a PS3 copy at the moment. And I'll take import over a comic.

Basically yeah, I was talking about the save bug and the not-so-good comic. Visuals are barely different from what I saw. Also, I personally dislike the Playstation controller, which colored my experience maybe.

About the new DLC, it appaprently features Mass Relays prominently. I predict a metric ton of foreshadowing for ME3. Let's just hope it is better than the last Bioware DLC that bridged between games, Witch Hunt was just awful.

Anyway, I can't understand how many people call this game stuff like "game of the decade", "ingeniously written sci-fi thriller", "rewarding combat against intelligent enemies" or "the most ingenious conversations ever". Either I have been playing a different Mass Effect 2 than them, or I'm just asking too much from a game, but generally, I think that if a game isn't entertaining to play by any means, it can't be anything but shite, and this goes for Mass Effect 2 from my opinion.

While the game didn't leave up to my expectations due to all the crazy praise it received, I wouldn't go as far as to say that it isn't entertaining to play by any means. It's still a good game. The combat can be fun, although gets repetitive, and the setting is great. As far as sci fi action games go, this one is definitely one of the best.

It turns out subjective opinions exist. Who knew?

Although I agree that the game is nowhere near the hype created around it, it is passable for a few hours. That, and the fact that there are people enjoying the hell out of it proves that it isn't complete shit, just a very unimaginative, repetitive and dumbed down game trying too hard to be bad-ass.

The problem in most Bioware games is , try not to seduce or f**k a female teammate .

You get in the game , you feel fine , everything goes ok , until you press "talk" with a female . Then it's show time !

Did anyone else find mouse movement odd in this game? I feel like it's too fast even on the lowest setting and then it's slow whenever I enter the mini games.

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with just including a slider for mouse sensitivity and it's annoying as hell to have it suddenly change in menus and hacking.

It could be just my mouse because it doesn't feel right in most games but it feels absolutely solid and 100% smooth and responsive in Counter Strike Source though.

If they only maintained the sex scenes in the ending it was ok, but no, games are responsible for the moral destruction of society, it's porn for minors - even the game being rated as M - and so on.
You know the drill...

Lars Von Trier for president! :P

I guess the females can't hold it in them.

"That with Tali was unexpected. She was like a sister to me, SISTER!!! I can't do that!"
quoting my friend, who did not want to believe me that you can do it with Tali too. Can female Shepard do it with Krogan?

It's funny that you mentioned this, because most of the time I play Mass Effect 1 & 2 as a female Shepard, Hale's acting puts Meer to shame most of the time.

Saying that, I understand some points of the rant about female Shepard in Bioware forums, the first time I've played ME2 it gave me the impression that Bioware downplayed female Shepard somewhat.

Regarding Shepard being James "Tiberius" Kirk of today's, check this out.

I've played through ME and ME2 many, many times; but I've never played a fem Shep in either.

I'm intrigued. Gonna have to dig out ME1 and do a female Shepard run now.

Try it, it's very fun to do it. There are things and situations that only happens with maleShep and others with femShep.

I would have played a female shepard. But its so damn fucking hard to get a decent looking face in that game.

I just used the default FemShep myself. It was funny watching Kaidan's fail attempts at flirting with his commanding officier, but Jacob in ME2 takes the cake for the most awkward romance dialog ever. I was surprised to hear he (Jacob) was written by a woman.

Also, I find the Dragon Age character editor (for both games) much more suited to avoiding uncanny valley, fot both male and female. I think the character I created in DA2 is the first oone to ever look better than the default.
