Also played LOTRO trial, was going to buy it but the bastards wouldn't let me buy it online, said I had to get a box set at an exorbitant price. Fuck em, hated the crafting system that wouldn't let you make anything on your own (I like to solo as much as possible).

Played WoW for 2,5 years and absolutely loved it.

My wife played as well, but after a period where we played way too much, we decided to scale down our playing hours. After that raiding was out of the question and we eventually stopped.

Played AoC for a little while, but since none of my friends played and since I really didn't have time, I stopped.

Played EVE for a little while, being a science fiction freak and all, but again stopped due to not really having time to do it.

Bottom line; if I had time to play an MMORPG or two I would, but since I don't have time to play "enough" I'd rather not play at all - so now I stick to single player games as I used to before WoW ...

voted no: grind is not my thing.
I did play Planetside for some time and even enjoyed it (it was shit though). But since MMORPG have nothing to do with roleplaying I refuse to waste extra money on diablo 2.

Had Guld Wars, liked some of its ideas, but didn't play for long, maybe 2 days? A waste of money, I can't really tell why

I only played MMO a few times, for very short durations, and very far in between. For one, because most of them are not enjoyable without a party, and the community does not impress me enough to look for one. Second, because they are like a collection of all the worst stuff we've seen in single-player RPGs: fetch quests, item collection, power-leveling, etc.

I was completely unimpressed by the 1-week trial of WoW, I played Anarchy Online for a little while, but the long runs from one city to another got very boring in a while, as did the fetch quests, and it took too long to level up (although, I'll give credit where it belongs, the idea is nice); I've played a bit of RF Online, and it's just as bad as any other MMO, if not for the Race Wars (well, if their servers didn't lag as horribly as they do, anyway).

I played Lineage 2 for about a year to the point of not having any time for anything else left (not even for other video games), then I stopped and I hate MMORPG's to this day. First few months after I quit playing L2 were an amazing experience, it felt like I was taking my life back.
From I what I've seen/heard about other MMO's and their players it seems that they all are very similar and they all turn people into zombies, that's why I'm never playing any MMO again.

Not my thing. I've played WoW, DDO, AO, DAoC, and some others, but none have kept my interest for more than a couple of weeks. Something about running through a town and seeing floating clouds of text above everyone's head like the haze at a smoker's bar turns me off, among other things. Such as the grind.

I have never really gotten into this whole MMORPG stuff, but I am thinking about trying out Star Trek Online once Cryptic releases it, mostly because I'm a big Trek fan and because some of what they said about it sounded different and interesting. Time will tell, though...

Played "The 4th Coming" a long, long time ago, got into "Age of Conan" when it went out, maxxed my character and stopped playing 4-5 months ago but will probably buy a 1-month gamecard this summer and resume at a lighter pace just to check out the game's progress.

the only multiplayer games i have ever played and really enjoyed were Goldeneye 64, World Cup 98 and Contra 3: The Alien Wars. Aside from these i have never been interested in Multiplayer, Co-op, mmorpg or anything similar.
I would play the Dreamfall mmorpg game that apparently funcom is working on, but then again, i would play it ONLY because i have been a fan of the longest journey games.

I played World of Warcraft for about a year & a half. I was in a european guild that ranked about top 10 in PvE advancement at the time (which was kinda hard since americunts were so fucking advantaged with being able to start the new instances before anyone else).

Anyhow, after we opened AQ, I totally lost interest and gquit. In the end I realised that I was so sick of the game, but that I simply kept playing due to the people I knew ingame.

I lost quite a bit of friends (most were scandinavian, so it's hard to go hang out irl), but I still have contact with a few and some even came to crash at my place a couple of time.

I've got no real regrets about my time spent on WoW, but I fully realise that this was because I was still in my last years of my first degree. Part of my motivation to quit was also the fact that due to my internship I just couldn't "be there" like I had been before, and that's when I kinda realised I really didn't play for the game anyway, I played for the people.

So eventhough I did an extra year of studies to specialise in my field of work, I didn't play during that year (though I had plenty of fucking time, students that claim they're constantly swamped with work are either whimps or go getters...).

Today, there's no fucking way I could seriously be in any high end guild of any MMO... I just have no time for this.

Currently in Urban Undead and working with a small group.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to host MMO groups here.

Good topic. I played 1 week of Asheron's Call 2. I loved being able to explore such a large world and interact with other players. However due to a dial-up connection and old PC I had bad quality and terrible lag. I gave it up when the time came to subscribe.

Now that I have a cable connection and new PC I could give MMORPG's a try. The problem is I'm afraid I'll like them. I have numerous friends and family that swear by them and our tastes are so similar I know I'd love to play. However all the people I know who do play roughly a whole year for multiple hours a day. Now granted the cost of a subscription is cheaper than having to buy new games, but also I hear about addiction. Now I've often had problems going to bed late or skipping duties to play and I only play awesome single player games or decent multiplayer games. If I had an awesome multiplayer game I could easily see myself giving the bare minimum to the rest of my life. I wouldn't become an addict, but close.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I still play Cabal Online once and a while.
Since i lack motivation & time i barely play.

Mostly just log on and talk with the guys.

Played:

Mu- got bored of it

Anarchy Online- got bored of it

Lineage- my younger bro got me into it for some short term before I've got bored of it

Tibia :P (if it is considered as a MMORPG)- during some breaks at college, because that was the only game those PCs could handle :D

Star Wars Galaxies- stopped playing it first when it turned out my character was broken or something, and then because my 30 days trial version ended. Too bad the first one got broke, because for some reason I was playing that one much longer than 30 days :D

Recently tried out some bloody, M rated one few months ago, but forgot the name. Stopped playing it because walking and killing stuff was just...boring and my laptop was nearly on fire (too slow).

Too bad we have to pay for SWG...

Oh and I played FOnline for some time.

I've played WoW for a little while but I could never get into it, it just got too toony and goofy when they started making new armors that looked so over-the-top retarded to keep people happy.

Then I've played EVE for a while but I just couldn't really keep myself in it, just didn't hold my attention well enough to warrant keeping it.

I liked Hellgate London but it got shut down for now, however they've said they'll eventually be bringing it back so I can only hope for that.

Then I'm playing Warhammer Online right now. I'm actually liking it quite a bit. The armors look cool without being over-done stupid looking. The game actually has a good storyline in it for you to follow as you progress. The RvR combat is cool because you don't have to be like lvl 40 to even start thinking about it like in WoW and others. Then the people tht make it actually seem to listen to their fans and fix things they want fixed, however that's also kinda annoying at times thanks to people whining and getting good classes nerfed then getting their own BS buffed up. Regardless, they seem to fix things they messed up with relatively quick and actually get to making more and better things for the game.

If you want to play at that level, wow is a second job. No point for anyone to play it like that really. Gotta keep it casual.

That's why all the end game raids have 10 man versions now. Lets way more people access the endgame content.
