Matt Chat interviews Brian Fargo #3

I always thought Kingpin: Life of Crime was a pretty cool game (made by Xatrix and published by Interplay), but sadly there was no attempt at making a sequel - which I thought it deserved (even though I will admit the game play was fairly simplistic). The character were certainly entertaining.

Yeah, that was really cool.
I still play that from time to time. The atmosphere and style is pretty damn cool :D

EY MAN ! PUT THAT PIPE DOWN !

Wasnt there always that music in the background by cypress hill as well ? Ha yes! I remember when you would come across some radio you would hear the sound.

Sadly many forget today that Iplay was really one of those big studios back then developing and publishing quite a few "good" games.

Shiny games have been great anyway. Just remember MDK.

I really enjoyed MDK's visual style - I would consider it one of the best action PS1 games...number 2 was pretty cool as well. But I can't imagine Interplay pumping 10+ million into building a new MDK game.

I personally would be happy already with a kind of graphical remake of MDK1. Rest can stay how it is.

Its surprising how humorous and funny written MDK2 was.

It was done by Bioware but I suspect it involved a whole different team of people than those now working on DA and ME.

Huh...

Sorry to go a bit off-topic, but is it just me or is there a bit of a resemblance between Ron Jeremy and Herve Caen?

It would be appropriate, since both of them tend to fuck things up.

If the MDK 2 stuff that will release soon does well I'm guessing MDK 3 might be more plausible?

I think it was a third team which has since split off and founded Beamdog which is working on MDK 2 WiiWare and MDK 2 HD.

Speaking of MDK, Planet Moon (studio by the ex MDK guys) went through some layoffs recently, only a handful of employees left now IIRC.

I wouldn't mind an "HD remake" of Messiah and Sacrifice.
Such great games, fuck what happened to this industry.:(

Mhmmm ... I wsa more the earth-worm-jim kinde of player. Liked that much more. Sadly it was more or less "killed" by the 3D hype.

I dont believe it that it just suddenly dissapeared just because 2D was not "modern" anymore. I mean they keep making Mega Man games even today in 2D !

If I remember the ending correctly they certainly hinted at a sequel.
Yeah, it showed the player as the new Kingpin, it was certainly open for a sequel.
Interplay actually mentioned a Kingpin 2 in 2004 alongside Fallout 3, a new Earthworm Jim and a new Descent game.

It was startling to realize that Anomen in BG2 was voiced by the same guy as Zyzyx in Sacrifice. I'll let you guess which role is the cool one.
