Megamod 2.3 technical issues and suggestions

Hi,

I have v. 2.34, and whenever I'm in the temple of trials, and I get to the part where you have to use the stone block to open the door, my game crashes. I pick up the block, put it into an inactive spot of my inventory, and then press the red button to switch to it. Then, *crash*. Is there an easy fix for this, or am I the only person who has this problem?

You can drop the item from inventory screen. Also does it crash for you if you just put the item to active slot?
I guess, for some reason, it searches character animation files which show the character equipped with the item and fails.
 
That stone block shouldn't be used. Only drop it from inventrory screen while standing on the rised plate. Nothing else.
 
It's lame that you get an allied guy that early (Klint), especially with Sulik just around the corner.


Klints healing is kinda overpowered to and doesn't seem to take "time"...oh well.

And you are forced to take him with you?

Klint is overpowered in more ways than that, but I've heard a rumor he's going to be redone one of these days.
 
Klint is OP, especially in Power Armor. He was designed to help with testing and yes, he will be redone, because he's almost invulnerable and he excells with all weapon type.

Nah I let him die in the gecko fields like the hero he is, trying to save poor little Angela.
 
I've noticed 1 small error, and I have two questions.



The dialouge has not been changed for sulik concerning Klamath.
Also there's still an add for fixing Whiskey Bobs still despite the quest being removed.


Also I remember a modd in which you had to drink water in fallout or fallout 2...where can I get this mod and is it compatible with the megamod?

Oh yeah, one more thing; could you please t'll the next release add "karma dropp" when a steal fails and you're spotted?

Come on, Username! What use is a karma drop for stealing? You get caught picking pockets and you piss off every decent citizen on the map. Leave, and they'll prolly still be pist when you come back. That's what F5/F6 are for. You don't get caught! 8-) {and get enough xp ripping off everyone to be level 5 before you ever venture beyond Klamath.}
 
I don't "roll" that way.
If I get caught stealing I live with it and either kill everyone in the town, return when they have forgotten me or ignore the town.

Sometimes it's also possible to get a rivalizing faction in town to take power and then you're welcome again.

What dialogue for Sulik are you talking about? And, keep in mind, I can change any dialogue of his. But When I do, you better not come back to me telling me there is a bug that he doesn't speak his new lines.

As for Whiskey Bob and this error you are talking about, are you referring to things in the support files? If so, then don't worry about it. I am not going to remove things from the MM support files just to turn around and add it again later. Besides, you can still help him repair his still, I think, if your skills are high enough.

Adding the karma drop if you get caught: I think you are confused about what karma is. Karma is generated from your actions, whether people know it or not. So, a karma drop should occur whether you are caught or not. I tried to implement this over a year ago, but never got it working right. I tried to implement a 3-point karma drop for each steal success. Instead, the player's character's karma remained unchanged or dropped 3 points every second. So, I scrapped the idea and didn't go back to it.
 
The notice board in klamath still speaks of the still and there's nothing to fix...the still is working perfectly. (Thoguh who knows, it is possible to get "spare parts" from an other still in trapper town. But it's confusing that the dialouge doesn't show up for an above average character that has read the notice)

Also Sulik speaks about the bugmen. that no longer exist.



Well karma is a mix of reputation and the hindu idea of karma.
There are many things in Fallout which you can do which are evil and good but do not raise or lower your karma, even detected.
At the same time there are many things which you can do undetected which do the same.
But I agree with your description of things and it's a pitty it didn't work.


By the way, either please fix scraptown or scrap it.
It's so incredibly buggy it's crazy.



Also the opening the door to the trapper while holding a wrench and a hammer is impossible, even with strength 10. My repair skills are low but it says "this does nothing" when I try to use repair on it, while holding the two items aswell.

But Im guessing someone has already reported this one.

There are plenty of issues with the MM. I'll get to Scraptown eventually.

The door in Klamath where the trapper is works fine.
 
Didn't work for me. I guess I'll have to digg in a bit further!

Would you mind PM:ing how to open those and how to open the trapdoor in the farm with the kid and his dog (modoc)?

Seems repair doesn't work for any of them despite the guide saying it should.
I've tried with a couple of items for the later like shovel, hammer and other large or bent items.

Sold my crowbar and my pole so I got those two left to try before I give up.
 
The door in Klamath works. I just tested it... again. Even works with a Repair skill of 15. You only need the items and to use Repair on it two times.

As for the Modoc trapdoor, just read what it tells you when you try to open the door. It's nothing really sneaky or complicated.

The trap door in the shack is a bit tricky, only the very right side is counted as the trapdoor, the rest is the ladder, when you try to interact with it. After you've oiled the trapdoor, you have to try to open it twice before it opens. [No repair is needed at all.]
 
Travelling to the Toxic Caves for the first time (clicking to enter the local map), the mouse freezes, the music loops, and there's an error that says "The instruction at 0048d9c4 referenced memory at 00000694. The memory could not be read from." I promised the Buckners and Slim Picket to find Smiley, but also accepted the "hunting expedition" quest from Sajag; the trapper in leather armour referenced in the guide did not want to talk to me, however.

I'm running FO2 UK 1.02 with Megamod 2.34, Sfall 1.44b (with Get Drunk and Extra Traits), Hi-Res 2.0c and Weapons Redone 1.9.
 
When is the next version of the Megamod coming? I want to start playing it again. Is there any beta testing going?
 
Hi, i'm not sure, if it is here, searching within a topic with 40 pages is time waste, so sorry if repeating something.

On wiki, i found the problem, with around 450 000 coins on a skeleton in Woodlands area in the Primitive tribe. But I'm not sure, if it was something about the northern exit grid. It takes me out of the Primitive tribe location back to the main map. And it's red.

I've been to Scrapyard, attacked and destroyed both gangs, some civillians survived and no problems with saves appeared. Maybe just luck. But miniguns in early game are horrible. :)
