Fallout 2 mod Megamod version 2.46 Bug Reports and Suggestions - Closed

Question: How much of Killap's patch (or which version) is now incorporated into this mod? It's been so long I played fallout 2 that I start forgetting the majority! If the latest version of MIB mod contains the latests of Killaps fixes, I'll be using this mod. Cheers!

In Arroyo when i enter the Hunting grounds is just a black area (if it start with a bug like this...):

My SWAG answer would be 50%. (SWAG = Silly, Wild-Ass Guess)

I can't give a real answer to that. I fully intend to add all of the RP. Because I am lazy, I saw no reason to add in bug fixes that would just be undone with the addition of RP material. If it was fixed with Sfall, then it is most likely included. However, it has been a while since I have added any of his bug fixes... I have my hands full with the existing bugs in the MM. I've addressed most in Colly. I am currently correcting a bunch in Carson City. When those are finished, then I'll release 2.45.3 (which will also be a full repack). The Brotherhood of Steel locations will be the next ones I tackle (and most likely, would warrant another new release).

@HorrendusPT: Looks like you are missing some files. Usually the blank map like that occurs when the map expects a certain item to be placed there, but the item is not in the data/proto/items folder. You may need to reinstall the MM. And make sure you get ALL parts: 2.44 installer, 2.45, 2.45.1, and 2.45.2. The next version (2.45.3) will be all-inclusive (i.e. the only one that is needed).

Thanks for the answer MIB88, I resently started playing the megamod since a very long time and I really apriciated al the work you did. I somehow can get same fallout feeling I had back in the ol' days! :P

So far didnt really sow huge bugs (some errors in text in collie) but when playing on 800x600 res the exit grid at the toxic caves seems to be missing. dunno If its also for the higher resolutions too.

Hope to see the project someday getting a final release with the latest fixes and all the good mods packed together! Awesome job already

i Have instaled MM 2.44 and patched it to 2.45.1 (havent found anything else...)

Same happened hith "Car out of power". I have to left the car and when i return i just got a blank area (so, i´ve lost the car). It Also happens often in Random encounters.

Other things:
- When i back to Arroyo, after the knives fight with Sly Fox, all my items are gone - i only have the knive.
- in broken Hills, after finding the missing people for Marcus, quest cannot be completed cos i have no dialogue option to tell Marcus about it (and get the hunting rifle).
- NOT A BUG - In Klamath to get the key in Trappers Town i have to rescue the traper in Toxic Caves first, but you forgot that there is a dog that if you give him meet you´ll take the key, so no need to rescue Smiley to get the key.
- In the tunels in Modoc where you have the Stone blocking your way it says i have no strenght enough (i have strenght at 9). Since i'm playing with Chitsa, i got the Stremght Perk to raise to 9 and still can´t move it. This quest is to early in game to ask you Strenght of 10, if that's what is needed.
- In Gecko it was supposed to get "Special Deck" of Tragic Cards in the reactor (Learn how to make Molotov Cocktails from Wooz) - searched every "corner" haven´t found it.
- tunels in Modoc (2) I got power armor and increased my strenght to 10. Now i can move the rock but can´t climb the ladder with the armour on (get stucked and cant use the ladder). I have to remove the Power armout so i can use the ladder.
- The game have a huge number of crashes that makes me keep saving every 10 minutes or so...
- Game crashes a lot when loading...

About the game crashing i read that this may be caused by Vic's head, but i don´t have Vic in my party since i got Marcus even without completing the "Missing people" quest.


P.S.: By the way, you have provide a link to Megamod wiki page, but would be nice to have here, in the fallout 2 downloads, your patches, since the only thing that are here is the 2.44 version. i Only have found the 2.44 version installer and the patch 2.45.1. So if you can provide here links for your next patches it would be great.

I've got around this by installing High-Res 2.2.c patch and setting the map variables option in f2_res.ini to "Megamod 2.42" few years back. Can't tell if this option is still available in present version, but give it a try.

I'm using the Vanilla US Version 1.02. Unfortunately still happens a lot to me, also with a lot of crashes.

By the way, i read about the possibility of using MM in á future RP... Well @killap and @MIB88, MM have in fact a lot of good things that i think they are a "must add" in a future RP. Untill now: The animation of Character puting the Power armor helmet only in combat, the Drop item system (very interesting) and all the content and quest from the changed Modoc - Modoc/Cold Hearts Farm (this would fit very well in RP). To be honest i would not include the minor locations or dialogues/maps/quests changes from Arroyo or Klamath tunels - for example - , but still MM have many material that would fit perfectly in a future RP. I think i played so far all the Mods and total convertions that i found (even Demos) and believe that FO2 + RP + the best content from MM would beat them all by far. :wiggle:

I said get ALL parts. If you have not installed all parts like I said, and it looks like you didn't add 2.45, then of course you are having problems! Save your reports, since I am not going to try to fix "problems" that arise when you don't have all the files. If you can't find them on Nirran's site, or moddb, atomic gamer, or here, or anywhere else on the net, then... well, I guess you'll have to wait for 2.45.3, which will include everything.


When Drobovik's talking heads are done, will MM include them?

I´ll let MM the only FO2 Mod/Total Conversion i didn´t finished. After all the best i found in it was taken from RP and Modoc Mod from Dude 101. Ill back to it when bored to death.

Your first message was... better. But still, taking both this edited version and the previous version together, I feel safe in saying: you're funny.
I hope you continue to find other Fallout mods and games to keep you occupied, because I'd hate to have to deal with any more of your whining.
 
The latest version of the Megamod is ready and currently available on mediafire. If someone else also wants to grab it and upload it elsewhere, please feel free to do so.

Some of the more important items from the readme file:

Installation: This version of the MM is a full repack. This version is the only one you will need. Any previously saved games from other versions may or may not work, depending on the version of the game the saved games are from.

Do NOT - I repeat - do NOT just install this mod over your exisiting MM location. Some files from previous versions have been removed. Those files will still be on your computer, and will influence the mod, if you just add this version to a previous version. I recommend that you either delete all MM files, and then add 2.45.3. Or, you can just install a new instance of Fallout 2, and add this version of the MM to that.

Important note: This version includes the ddraw file from sfall that I use on one of my gaming computers. You may need to change some of the settings in it to get it to work the way you want on your system. I recommend that you rename the ddraw file that you use and then compare it to the one I use in the MM. Go through the lines comparing what I have to the settings you need/prefer and make changes as necessary.

Run the RUNME.BAT file before you start to play. When you do this, your master.dat file will be updated. Once the program is run, you should no longer have problems with party NPCs forgetting their levels.


Changes/Fixes made since version 2.45.2:

-More grammar, spelling, and dialog fixes
-Re-added Vic's talking head from Drobovik (minus the voice)
-Sulik's sister no longer appears at the Slaver Camp after you have rescued her
-Eliminated chance for crash when freeing slaves from the larger pen
-New talking head for... some things in the game
-Minor updates to dialog choices with Chrissy and Rebecca at V15 from Endocore
-corrected a dialog error whereby the player may not have known if the first Abbey quest was completed
-Corrections to Carson City (this area still needs work, though)
---A number of scripts re-written
---corrected dialog/grammar for almost all critters there
---Slightly modified how the player receives clues for the murder mystery quest
---Can no longer solve the murder mystery more than once
---Can no longer talk to townspeople about the murder after the quest is completed
---Killing some townspeople no longer gives positive karma
---Quests/Conversations/Floats regarding Leon's girlfriend and quest now work properly


@Oracle: Thanks. If you are playing games from 2.45.1/2, then your saved games should work with this latest version... I'm 99% sure they will still work.

Had some issues with the High res mod, but fixed it by useing the old DDraw.dll and ini. Also using the Loot/heal commands from Nirran's mods.

I found a bug I guess. Balthas (modoc) always seem to treat the PC as a stranger even when hes accepted of even idolized. you need to atleast to have an accepted status in Modoc for him to lend him his dog (Laddie)

I took apart the existing script, but couldn't find the reason for such a problem. However, I decided not to make myself crazy over such a small thing. So, I've just added the Balthas script from the RP (and re-added the extra code for crafting from New Vision). If it works properly in the RP, then it will work properly in the next version of the MM. Thanks for the report.

@MIBB88: does your mod include the tactics critter packs? it has the cockroach critter but does it mean it has the others too? I want to change klint's appearance.
