Now, that is a possibility. However, that shouldn't matter. I thought the game read its instructions and gave priority to
1. patch000.dat
2. data folder
3. master.dat

If the game gave priority to the master.dat, which contains most files, then no mods would work.

Yea true, true. Well sorry I can't be any help in this matter I tried, so the blame is on the incorrect way people install the game with the mod :P
 
I see that people have problems with UK version. I'm running on it and everything works fine without any crashes (I also have installed a children patch). Only default character names seems to be bugged, for example instaed of "Narg" is "--&_" (or something like that).

Thank you for confirming what I thought. As for the character names, I think that is a remnant from the New Vision mod, cyrillic script that my computer wasn't set to read.

And to everyone else having problems: go back and read the readme file.

And to Heodien, if you are still around: finally got that thing with Lenny to work right. You will be able to get him in your party again, so you don't have to kill all of Gecko in retaliation! :) Of course, you may have to wait til the next release...

This is from New Vision, which remade most Arroyo and Klammath quests, among other things. Torr's and Wiskey Bob's quests is part of that. Just look at it as playing Fallout 2 for the first time, and you'll be good. :)

3 - What's the fork for? And the food containers?

So far the best use I've found for them is to trade for cold, hard cash. Quite realistically food and eating utensils is worth alot more than it would be in our world.

Edit: By the way MIB88, any word on that bug with Sajag I encountered? I've reproduced it, kinda hoping I wouldn't because I wanted to play through the bad karma solutions in Klammath.
 
Someone clear my mind here.
In the sewers i find a door that says it was powered by electricity and i don't have enough strenght to open it (i have strenght 10). So my question is: impossible to open? If so how is a trapper dead inside the room? :roll:

Because it isn't a matter of strength. Look at it closely...

And to H-K: since I just found out about Sajag a couple of hours ago, no, I haven't looked at him, but I will.
 
I just got done getting it to load up, it kept rebooting me at the char gen screen. It now loads up all nice and everything. But all that aside;

When I enter the Temple of Trials I get a nice black screen, with my char standing around not doing anything. When I move the mouse around the hexes all go red. It's not frozen or anything, I can exit the game. Any ideas?

This problem was addressed a couple of pages ago, but try uninstalling FO2 and installing it to a completly different location then you usually would. I don't understand why, but it worked for me and someone else.

Be honest here: did you really install this mod from scratch, and not just try to overwrite files? This is an error that you would have in a number of encounters due to a mod I added a long time ago and removed with this new release. It was a sound file, changing the sound of one of the guns, ported from FO1. If a critter used this in combat, you had about a 1 in 3 chance that the game would fail. Go to your data\sound\sfx folder. What files do you have there?

I know, but as both me and the other dude has UK version and I got it to work better than him I'm just suggesting he tries to patch the game with 1.02 UK first :)
 
Now i know this is bound to piss everyone off. But im having the same problem as lith, the whole go into the temple and its all black, hexes turning red and everywhere i move leaves a ghost of me.

Ive tried reinstalling in different locations, ive followed all the mods install instructions to the letter. Im using the default US version.

Yayyy, thanks MIB, finally im gonna get that little bastard hahahaha.
Hey, also, im having a strange bug, im using UK version with children patch(i know you said you dont know how it works but this is very strange).
When i meet with Kaga the first time, i can go to his encounter with no problems, but if i have his encounter again on the map, it asks me if i want to enter or not, if i click on yes button, the map continues the same, and when i reach my destination(like den) it gives me an error, PARTY MEMBER ITEM LOST, ERROR and the game crashes.
Strange, ain't it?


EDIT: I will try out with the US version this week.

From scratch? Pretty much, I always use "clean" data folders for new mods. This is the first version I try, and I cannot remember using other weapon mods made by you, I installed and removed Ultimate Warfare Mod a long time ago due to the fact that new weapons (and the ones with changed ammo types) wouldn't reload. But that's in another data folder which I don't use anymore. Tried to recreate the bug, but couldn't. I was thinking at first the Hakunin's "don't hurt other people" thing was interfering here, but as long as it was a one-time happening... I'll post later if I encounter more bugs :)

Tried it, even intalled it on a completely different drive and still the same prob. :/ only now I can't even save.

Not just you, but everybody, pay attention: SET THE ENTIRE PROTO FOLDER TO READ-ONLY.

I put that in the readme for a reason!

Also, I was finally able to download the version 2.0 from the site, but I found that one of the moderators forgot to include one of the packets I sent him (the one that includes all the mod sounds). I am not sure what he is planning on doing. He may just release the sounds as a separate download, or he might decide to put everything as one download again, I don't know. Oh well. The game won't crash by not having certain music and sound effects.

If you try to use falche on the save file and then start the game then you'll get 2 stange perks. Night vision sight and something about flameboy and the picture is you married with a fat guy. :?

I tried to use it because i'm on a recognition run to see if everything works fine. So far found some error lines and misspelling errors that i'll report to MIB88 as soon as i can.
