Baldurs Gate - Baldurs Gate. Do I really need to go on about this area? It's a classic.
A classic in tedium you mean. I was only playing BG last month and can't remember a thing about it. Unlike Torment which I haven't played in years but can still picture many of the areas or hear the ambient sounds like some form of video game Tinnitus. BG was about as atmospheric as a pair of unworn socks still with the price label on.

As much as I enjoyed the game I also couldn't remember a single location. Whereas I remember clearly the Goblin Mines on Dungeon Siege. In BG you remember the characters, weapons, enemies, quests. Icewind Dale was more memorable.

Oh yeah. Back on topic.

The Neverhood - The Neverhood. I remember every single location.
Sam and MAx Hit THe Road - Gator Golf Course.
Syberia - Syberia, when you finally get there with the train.
Disciples 2 - Undead City. Damn, that's atmospheric.

So many games...so many awesome experiences. Most games on this list are great experiences through the whole game so I will just mention the best areas though all areas could be mentioned.

Fallout (Glow)
Half-life (Xen)
Arcanum (Stillwater)
Psychonauts (Milkman)
Space Rangers 2 (Rescue my son government mission quest where you play an adventurer in a half-abandoned backwater area and the bueracracy government mission quest where you...do odd things.)
Starcraft (First Terran mission...such awesome scenery)
Warcraft 3 (Last mission in the game and the expansion...multiple huge battles with many races and heroes on all sides)
KotOR (uneplored planet)
Final Fantasy 3/6 (Seeing the world of ruin for the first time)
Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past (first appearing atop the pyramid in Ganon's world)
Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun Firestorm Expansion (GDI Missions "Dogma Day Afternoon" and "Civil Uprising")

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Nope, and nope. Though perhaps if I was on medication I might think more of it. Then again I would be embarrassed to find something so bland and insipid memorable.

Shadowrun-
The morgue at the very beginning of the game.

Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past-
The Castle Hyrule during the storm
The first time you enter Dark WOrld.
Death Mountain.

Earthbound-
The city of Threed which is plagued by zombies.
Moonside. The city where no means yes and everything is all fucked up backwards.

Final Fantasy 7-
Midgar.

Final Fantasy 8-
Ultimecias'Castle.

Fallout series-
The Glow.
Junktown.
New Reno.

Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver-
Nosgoth.

Duke Nukem 3d-
The strip club.
The electric chair.
Alien ship.

Doom 1 and 2-
Hell.
Tower of Babel.
The devils chambers.
Wolfenstein secret level.

KOTOR-
Tatooine

Fallout: The Hub. This where the game started breathing to me. Shady Sands and Junktown are cool but this is where I felt the endless possibilities engulf me.

Fallout 2: Sierra Army Depot. While I hate the music because it gets on my nerves, it was a place that I used as a sanctuary and where my PC would have bunkered at if shit hit the fan.

FF7: Junon. BFG, 'nuff said.

FF6: Narshe. The opening of the game made me fall in love with it.

Chrono Trigger: 12000 B.C. The flying empire of Zeal.

Phantasy Star 2: The first town, don't remember its name, it's been so long. What impacted me was the futuristic bent of the architecture, how people were dressed, etc.

Temple of Elemental Evil: Hommlet. The bucolical spread by definition.

Arcanum: I liked equally Qintarra and the Dark Elf city.

Legend of Mana: The skeleton of the light dragon, Lucemia. Cool music and has the best boss fight theme of the game.

The list would go on and on.
