Mutants Rising Closes Shop

I agree with the guys here. Release all the stuff!!! Maybe if you do release it, some kind people may club together and finish the whole mod off. It can be done.

We just need the stuff...

We were never short on ideas or enthusiasm, but that damned scripting is a slow death. You guys should consider releasing everything just for the hell of it. The maps, music, stories and critters are all beautiful.

You should say "We," not "You guys." You played a big role. I can get you back into the developer's forum now.

Hey Steve, how is the book-writing?

My second novel should be finished before the end of the year. Thanks for asking.

It is indeed saddening news.

The problem with the demo is that when you (the PC) talked to anyone, all dialogue options were available whether you were smart/dumb, male/female. Our scripter burned himself out trying to fix this and was so desperate to do so, he didn't sleep. When the dialogues were still broken afterwards he was too. We continued working, hoping we could solve the scripting problem, but that was the end.
Hmm, but so you have all the dialogues finished, they just don't work properly in game?

I don't know how much is actually left, but maybe in a far distant future, when FMF is finally done, we can all rejoice and do some work for MR.

For now, though, there's only one thing left to do: Join FMF!

Not all dialogues were finished, no. More than four locations worth of dialogue are done.

And yes, perhaps it is time to join FMF. Maybe I can learn how to script, eh? :(

P.P.S. Speaking of which, now that you aren't struggling with the project anymore, why not start visiting the Order again? We kinda miss you guys.

"Nice try, you have been banned from this forum"

*cough*

Sad...so very sad! The inevitable occurred. The weight of having to complete ever project was far more than ever my broad shoulders could bear.

Imagine if you had to do everything...EVERYTHING! So I finally came up with a solution, I devised the most inane retarded dialogue format and put it in place. I demanded that everyone use this piece of drivel and change months of effort to satisfy my perverse desires.

ALEC knows nothing of hard work. It was me I tell you...me! When all is said and done, my one line of dialogue is quite possibly the single greatest achievement in scripting that has ever been done.

There my work is done here!

I know one person is angry at the moment who has most of the files. wild_qwerty has asked for them but I'm not sure how long the person will hold out.
I have the design docs and all the dialogues I personally worked on, plus the aforementioned holodiscs material. I may have a few of the other files.

I'm not sure how the team feels as a whole toward releasing the work. It would be interesting to know if the community liked what we were doing and wanted to finish it.

I'm not sure what to do. It is terrible to think of all that work coming down to nothing.

@ SNorth

Personally, I would like to see at least what has been done so far. it would be a shame for such a dedicated group of people to have gotten so far just to destroy everything that's been done.

If it were to be released in one form or another, I would certainly be interested in working on it further with anybody that would want to. It'd be great to see such a large project be completed.

Mikey took the initiative and made a thread asking if we would release content. Give him a biscuit.

Steve, surely the person who doesn't want to give the stuff out can only really stop us giving out the stuff that he made?

Didn't we had some files from deceased projects somewhere? I can't find them. The idea of making a repository gallery of files under the open source license, giving credit to those that produced the stuff, could be interesting.

Even I could start snooping around again, and see what could be salvaged and used.

No matter what I'm with Chris in this subject

Interesting idea indeed!!

maybe people who worked on Fanout and Fallout Yurop (sp?) could salvage stuff whats done as well and share it that way.

I'm all for the idea

Interesting you should mention Fallout Yurop, you can expect some news in the not to distant future...

Open source Fanout would be great also.

Good news I hope. This closing down stuff is getting depressing.

Well... it was to be expected... right? Seems like FMF the winner of the 4 bigger mod communities of fallout.

I would already have released the stuff but I dont have a working username/password to the olf ftp site anymore.

SNorth, if you email me your username/password (it should be the same as the one you had to get into the 'new forum' that no one else had access to), I can try and leach everything from the ftp...

We had a friendly rivalry between FMF and MR.

Of course, now that I've joined FMF you guys are discussing trying to keep MR alive. Outwitted again---This was all about getting rid of the North guy I bet! Conspiracy theories exist! They all must be true. :P

If you guys can decide on who is going to be in charge of this, I'll see about putting together what I have.
