New animations 2

What about the gas mask on this critter? (without the red eyes part):

This one is awesome.
Gets me into some hidden tribe who develop some ways to get past the radiation.

do you not think we should first to finish baldie, hairy ande blacky before start other works? jsut a question.

x'il - BDSM guys are really awesome! I do like all of them, especially with GAS MASK!

I like this much more than the flamer guy.

Well, that flamer animation is not intended to be an NPC, but a customized weapon animation for the hero (the player's) critter, much like the sniper and wakizashi animations that Josan12 made.

I would like to use this and the flamer dude for a not-Fallout Fallout mod. Heh. (since a while I have ideas in my mind for a Fallout 2 mod that has nothing to do with the Fallout setting)

Heathen!! ... :P

Whatever happened to SD2?

This guy is supposed to be Tycho from FO1 (or something close to the text description of him), i was trying to make a convinving looking trenchcoat, but obviously it's far from perfect. It's just one experimental idea or something.

Of course. Just asking for opinions here to decide what my "secondary" critter will be.

That's what I thought when I first saw him posted. I've actually always hoped someone would get around to making new sprites for Tycho, since his in-game description is pretty badass, yet he looks nothing like that.

If this helps, here's a more detailed description of Tycho from Jess Heinig, the Fallout developer that made him: "In some ways Tycho is reminiscent of master Yuta from "Nausicaa and the Valley of the Winds" [Edit: he means Lord Yupa from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.] He carries a gas mask just in case, wears hardened leather armor, has a knife, knuckles, canteen, all the usual survival gear. I'd pictured him as this guy in leather armor (Fallout-style) with a gas mask hanging around his neck, goggles (to keep out sand and glare), a sand-colored cloak usable for camouflage and to keep the sun off, and a double-barreled shotgun."

Finally there, was absent for while...

That sadistic Metzger dude looks outstanding. No matter he misses the rifle animations, the pistol/SMG will do. I see you added a few more details, like the additional blood on one of the death animations - summa summarum - I'm delighted :D

The Tycho critter looks somewhat mystic to me... The gas mask, the robe and a backpack full of surprises. Perfect for a vagabond or a cult member. Approved for development! :salute:

I think Metzger animations work well on Cassidy without wearing armor. In RP, there is no proper animation for "naked" Cassidy.

The bald dude looks like the police chief from Mad Max! Perfect for a mod about what happens in the immediate aftermath of the nuclear war in Australia!

Ha! Yeah - i totally agree! :D

The work shown in this thread is absolutely kickass! I don't agree with Lexx opinion regarding the red-eye gasmask. I personally think that the red goggles add a twist of wasteland obscurity and isolation.

I always wanted to find out how you guys make such work? 3d max and photoshop probably, but is most work hand made, that is to say pixel drawn?

You like the red-eyed gasmask?, well thank you!! :)

Some modders have made completely new critters by 3d modeling them, but these are critters based on the original game critters, so it is more "editing" of the 2d frames, some things can be automated, some others can be worked in layers, and others have to be done one frame at a time.

Well for an example, the character models which you made or edited. The BDSM Metzger or the dude with long hair... Surely many models are pixel drawn or edited, even so, im very curious to find out the details...

Im sorry for the off-top, but i like to delve in photoshop or 3d max sometimes, and make create something similar. I know that hand making such material can sometimes become kind of hard, not even as exhausting as difficult to imagine how to "draw" the forthcoming details or touchups...

There are tutorials, if you still got questions, there's always someone around (x'il, Josan12, Mr. Wolna, brother_soifran, me...)

http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Making_a_new_character_using_existing_Fallout_characters

Maybe you could help us with the existing critters? We currently work on the black, long-haired and bald dude. Pick your favorite ;)
Thanks lisac, this tutorial looks very detailed, and a couple of those videos will be very helpful as well.

Il watch'em and see if i can help. I can't promise anything tho. And if il have to choose, il choose a bald black guy, like the one on your avvie :D

Yep, you have much of a choice - all the possible hair color (black, blond or red)/gender (male or female)/race (black or white)/hair length (short or long) combinations are 24, two of them are available originally by the game, and about five of them is being worked on. The most of the main ones are being worked on, and out of my list, not all of the models are worth working on.

If you use some creativity, the chances are near infinite - you could even make a green-haired male with red skin (like indians) and a weird haircut. Or create other varieties for existing models, to make them playable - like the mohawk raider model. Or make a more fallouty remakes of the Shi or gangsters (the casino bouncers in New Reno).

Right then, i just installed good'ol Fallout 2 and downloaded the Frame Animator...

Thing is though, promise not to laugh guys, i can't understand the very first step... In my Fallout 2 directory i got all sorts of different files. My guess is that the animations and graphics files are in master.dat or critter.dat? But how do i open up them .dat files in order to extract the FRM?

The updated tycho looks awesome x'il! Ive been thinking though, and made a concussion that the developers probably wanted to show him as an american ranger... So as i get it, tycho probably had the "High and Tight" haircut. I think it should be added to the model for full detail :)

I made the first frame of the bald black guy. The color of the pants blends in with the skin color, which is bad i think.
