New animations 2

That guy looks pretty much anything but bald to me. Which animation set are you using for input? My crippled eye would say HMWARR...

If we would ever need mud wrestlers or camo-ed desert warriors, this guy would fit in perfectly, I say!

I can't recognize him as bald, too. But did you used the original color of the pants? Because if you did, then you could want to use another color.

Heh, but I have to say it looks not that bad as new critter.

For the body i used HMWARR, for the face the black vault jumpsuit guy, and for the bald scalp i tried to use the cassidy model :P

Don't worry dudes, im just fiddling for now, il try harder. Instead of using a black brush i selected the body and filled with specific opacity. The pants are original, and color? imo, really doesn't fit in (((

EDIT: Alright, update... How about something more typical?

Dammit, that looks awesome!

But you'll have to consider the stuff you're gonna need for finishing it... Animation sets, variations. As I see it now, you're gonna need:
1) the bald dude (Cassidy?) animations for the head
2) the Ian animations for the jeans & boots
3) the tribal animations for the body
4) plus additional re-colouring

A lot of work, but if you wanna kick it... Be my guest :)

EDIT: almost forgot, the tribal doesn't support most of the weapons, but SMG, spear and a few others will do, I guess. If you're really crazy, you could try cutting of hands with weapons from other animations and mount it on that dude (pistol etc...)

Since this will be the Chosen One, the tribal model should be used just in the Temple of Trials, before replaced with the Vault 13 suit model. This means that out of the battle animations, you need animation just for Spear, and the throw animation for it, if I didn't missed anything. I don't think you'll even need the climb animations.

But you can never say making additional animations is useless. You know, there are a bunch of mods. And there will be, for a lot of years ahead.

That process would have to be repeated thousands of times....if i may sugest something: if you want to make a bald black guy, why don't you use my BDSM psycho critter that i posted on the begining of this thread?: it is bald, bare-chested, it has boots and gloves, the only difference is the pants color, but this way you won't have to do any copy/pasting, only re-colouring, and it would still look unique.

You should also think about what you want your critter for: is it for a new NPC? or for hero animations? (there's a big difference here). Since you seem to prefer making black dudes, why not help Lisac2k with the black dude hero critter?, and once the bald dude get's finished you could then work on those to make a black bald hero, how about that? :)

EDIT: a small tip: if you MUST make your bald, black, blue pants critter, because you just like it too much, or other similarly elaborated critter; work in stages!. For ex. stage 1, naked torso on blue pants, stage 2, add bald head... that way, if you quit at some point, you may at least have completed some stage and have some critter to show.

First of all guys, thanks for your positive replies. There ain't nothing better than sharing good moments within the forums of no mutants allowed! :silly:

I want to say that as always with 'pixel art', some minor difficulties are unpreventable.

Im figuring that most likely for an NPC, yes... The limited weapon animations cut down the possibilities of this model which im editing, and i think that it would go much better as a companion or some redding miner druggie :D

As for helping out later on, i really don't know. I hope that i will be able to, but let's wait and see how this model will go. I think it's a little to early to say at the moment.

Aye, that's the way im making it. Pants and head first, then the color fill, and last but not least (very important in my opinion) a slight touch of the burn with highlights selected. It adds shine to the bald sweaty head, and buffed fighter chest

That process would have to be repeated thousands of times....
Indeed, especially the little details. That's just very frustrating at some moments if you ask me. Because you know for sure that the original developers made these models with help of 3d programs, and here you are, trying to make everything look good with a 1px pencil tool :D

Let's just hope that it will go well for all of us.

Hey x'il, that Tycho critter you have as your new avatar looks amazing. Any chance of that ever getting finished?

Hehe, Thanks! I tried to get it as close as possible to the description you provided from the original dev (thanks for that, btw), look:

As for finishing it, i don't know, it's a LOT of work, and i still have plenty of work for the main "dudes", but, someday...

Yes, it looks pretty good.

But what are you using for the gif? I suggest Titanium browser for better results. :)

Exactly the point of my previous post.

That's awesome for a start! :D No matter if Redding Miner or a Lone Traveler - that would really be a great addition to the NPC palette we've got right now.

Hell if i know, didn't try to convert it back to FRM or w/e. Im not really good with such things, you know twiddling with palettes and so on.

X'il, il try the Titanium Browser, thanks for the advice.

I'd say you nailed it. In fact, now I won't be able to play Fallolut 1 without being pissed that Tycho doesn't look like that. So you've basically ruined Fallout 1 for me, thanks a lot. :)

Hmmm... this is very important, because Fallout only accepts the fallout palette, so if you're changing colors you must test it with said palette, to see how the results fare (some things can look really good as gif, and be literally horrible in-game). You could do this; recompile your animation's bmp's (doesn't matter if they aren't finished, is just for testing the colors) into an FRM, then close frame animator, open it again and load your new FRM and when asked to use fallout palette click yes. Other thing you could do (and more effective, i think), is to rename your new Frm into this: HMWARRAA (the hero tribal idle animation) and place it in Data/art/critters in your fallout 2 installation directory, then run a new game of FO2 and see the results in-game. There's probably a couple more things you could do (like loading the fallout palette on Ps and open the bmp's using indexed color option), but the above has worked for me just fine. :)
