New Fallout World Record

Plenty of time to do that after you save the world from the mutant menace.

...well, you are exiled, guess they send someone else out.

Downloading it now... I now know that whenever I feel nostalgic for FO1, I can turn on this video, watch it and get my fallout kick without having to even find my cd.

Nice job in doing it so fast though I'm equally baffled that you don't need to find the water chip to beat the game. I coulda swore that was the whole point but ah well.

That was a cool video, interesting site in general.

From a story line point of view you need to get the water chip to complete the game, but speed runs aren't really concerned with story.

If you think about it though you can't complete the game by *just* getting the water chip. The overseer sends you out again to deal with those dastardly mutants. Getting to the end sequence is the sole aim of speed runs.

The rules are that you can take advantages of glitches in the level design, rocket jumps to skip sections of a level and such. Anything goes as long as it's not a cheat along the "noclip" lines. So skipping story elements is ok.

Cheers
Sven

Aye, I'm not contesting the fact that it's allowed, nor that it should nullify the run. I'm just surprised well that the game makes it possible...

Just watched the video though, well done, it was really crisp. I think it took me about 3 or 4 times through the game though before I actually even found that area in Boneyard where the robe was found.

Brilliant stuff. One of us should try to break that record.

Took my poor little laptop 34' 56" to download the video (high quality). Jeez...

Glad to know you guys liked it. I won't be attempting to do this run again without finding some major new tricks.

My next run will probably be for Temple of Elemental Evil. I'm pretty sure I can get that under 10 minutes as well.

Yeah well done my friend. Too bad I'd never even try this because I'd have in the back of my mind that after playing 15 minutes and still being at Shady Sands, I could have nearly completed the game A SECOND TIME!

Well done!

Ah man, and just when I had my run down to 12:53 and improving... :(

Congratulations on this one, I will give up now :D

Good luck with the bugs. Why not try a speedrun for Arcanum instead? Or would that be practically impossible?

Heh, the bugs are the only reason why the ToEE run wasn't posted at the same time as the Fallout run. The only one that effects the run is when I'm completely unable to find secret doors.

I was helping to plan an Arcanum run, but a friend of mine seemed like he wanted to do it more. However, he quickly loses interest in these things, so it's likely I'll do that run at some point too. The Arcanum run is much harder, and would have to be segmented. The total time we calculated before would be about 40-45 minutes.

A 16m 45s Wasteland speed run was made recently. It uses a bug that lets you pick up cheat items to make you invincible.

Bug. The super weapon you can pick up is a proper item, but the super armour isn't, and you're not supposed to get either.
