New ideas for mutants (human and animals)?

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
This was just a question I had. Do you guys have any good ideas for new mutant creatures for the Fallout Universe.

Just describe what location they’d inhabit, how they were created, and what they look like.

Mutants that are not Super Mutants. More like Total Recall. Have them exist in a certain region in a game that has no Super Mutants because I am tired of seeing them everywhere. Definitely one with three boobs. Or this guy.

Mutant horses so we can just have a mount and admit the games are Elder Scrolls clones now.

Ducks with long razor beaks, big ostrich legs, and can jump 8ft. They are parasitic and rape women and other female animals to procreate, mutating them in different ways depending on species.

kind of like the big homie here... but a duck.

Whatever it is not a fucking tentacle monster or tentacle zombie or tentacle anything. Too many fucking tentacles.

We need Terrorbirds; have mutated 'Chickens' or 'Fowls' that evoke their old glory and their cousins, these fuckers:

We need another rabid human mutant mob. Ghouls are running their course. Tunnelers were made too OP. Trogs were fun enough but can't be everywhere, they feel like the natural product of neo-industrialization and slavery. Lurks don't count (they're...crabs?)

Let's say there was a vault, or psuedo-vault. A religious one (invoking megachurches and their wealth) gleaming the fuck out of flyover country bumfuck county. They save thousands, nay, tens of thousands. They live for decades, or even centuries, down there. But they get twisted, perverted, maybe there is a revolution. They turn to their version of 'evil', maybe intentionally so. Maybe a team of attached scientists were used to make a 'common enemy' for the dwindling oligarchical/saved/worthy core to fear/fight off.

I'm proposing legit 'devils' and 'demons', and yes I'm shoving this in due to my love of such shit.

'Devils' would be the more intelligent, humanoid ones; while 'Demons' would be all sorts of warped, creepy animalistic shit. They both reproduce a lot and were thrown out of the 'Ark' or w/e into caves and the like and the scientists also wanted to 'adapt' to the new world so they filled it with a rough neobiosystem and maybe changed themselves to become 'arch devils' (e.g bosses), and maybe even were exiled or left of their own accord.

Devils and Demons can fight one another, Devils can amass and control Demons, Demons just run around in packs of their own hierarchy, whatever. They spawn a lot, they die a lot, they expand a lot, but they're never a world-ending threat, unless the Arch-Devils convene and unite and even then they're just...bioengineered/genetically engineered beasts and humanoids. They don't want to take over the world, they can barely concieve of it and probably just adhere to what the Religion thinks they should do: rampage, seduce, enthrall, waylay.

They have have metal weapons or whatever they can strap onto a demon but nothing DOOM level with rockets or w/e. They might have chitin or horn or claws but otherwise against even a militia with guns or a cavaran they're not too much of a problem, if you know they're out there and keep a watch.

There's 'Hell', ground Zero or Ground Zero.1 where they were first born or took root but by now there's a odd collection of caves, caverns, towns, outposts they have changed, maybe three or so one per archdevil but nothing too big, but still a eyesore. The biggest megachurch in the US is in Texas but honestly it could be any interior-ish state?

How about mutated Pigs? where are all the Pigs, anyway? Pigs and chickens are mysteriously absent in Fallout, innit? We got the Cows, we got the Sheep now, so add Pigs. Either as Pigmen, who should move to replace SM as the 'Orc' type enemy (yey pig orcs) or just packs of boars being, well, boars, the fuckers. Drops good meat either way.

Other American fuckery for consideration for mutation: Wolverines, Groundhogs, Bison, Gila Monsters. Wolverines sort of fill a 'Deathclaw' esque slot, Groundhogs could turn into toothy pack monsters, Bisons a sort of more aggressive BigHorner type thing, Gilas might be filled by geckos and Dclaws already.

I Wish there was some kind of flying threat either mutant or robotic. Even an Hybrid could do.

Maybe water creatures as well if we get to explore another swampy region (or lakes or other bodies of water). Moving by boat and fending creatures during the Voyage would make for a very original Fallout experience

Cmon guys that is what the dragon Scorch Beast is all about. Don't you like Fallout 76 lore?

I don't actually think the Scorched on their own are a bad idea. Sue me. They could be more interesting and the zombie aspect I would definitely cut out, but giant fungal bat monsters that kill off populations just by existing is pretty decent for a Fallout mutant idea.

Oh yeah forgot about that. I don't play 76 and I'm rather detached from its...whatever really.

No idea what's exactly the lore behind this creature (which I assume is basically a Fallout dragon), but I don't think it should disqualify further experimentations with flying creatures.

On their own Scorched are little more than a version of the plague I wrote for Motor City back in 2012. Pretty generic really. Nothing terrible. Just out of nowhere and in one spot of the country I guess.

Mutated zoo gorillas, who can create rudimentary armor and pipe weapons called "Sasquatch" who avoid humans and live high up in abandoned buildings

I'd like to see a Deathclaw variant that is more towards the chameleon side of things. They have independent moving eyes and creepy movements. Also, camo skin and long sticky tongues. Give it less health to compensate. That would be great for Fallout in any setting, but especially subways. Just image it walking past you with it's eyes moving independently and one of them falls on you before continuing on. It missed you for now. Maybe have it stop and just stare if you happen to see it before it pounces. Both independent eyes locked on in the dark.

FO4 Deathclaw has a little bit too "cool" of a look going on rather than frightening, or creepy. Animations included.

If I get good at Blender Imma make it.

I was on board until you said they rape women. Why must they rape things?

They are a parasitic species that need a host to further their carnage, would you rather they rape and impregnate men?
junior-01152013.jpg
If they're parasitic wouldn't they rape anything? Also you should specify, are they raping in the same way face huggers rape? Because I don't think that would be called rape, but if it's rape in the same way a human rapes then I would say your duck thing is creepy and I don't want that in Fallout.

Got a bunch myself, lemme check from memory:

Meta Mutants: Actually a thing from my own setting, but could work in Fallout perfectly and I am actually using them somewhere.

Meta Mutants are very human-like yet different. The meta mutant is somewhat superior to the average human, ranging from "Peak Human" to "Super-Human". In game terms, every single meta mutant has the Gifted trait without wasting a slot, and their stats can max at 12 not 10. If Super Mutants are the hulk of mutants, Meta Mutants are more like the Captain Americas of mutants.

They often have unique mutations, from simple ones like bone spurts from their knuckles and pointed teeth, to drastic mutations like deep deformities and claws for hands. They range from looking like humans with funny colors to human-like deformed monsters to anything in-between.

Before the war, the US was not the only country running their own secret genetic engineering project. Far from it, in fact. Deep in the darkest, most distant places of the Amazon Forest, Brazilian scientists were hard at work creating the next generation of genetic engineering. They discovered a new method to manipulate genes (pretty much the Fallout equivalent of CRISPR-CAS9). They set to work, to create the next step of humanity. Why? Perhaps to replace mankind, perhaps as super-soldiers in the chaotic world before the war, perhaps to counter other super-soldiers.

Afer the war, these creatures got out somehow (or were let out? It is a mystery) and started terrorizing everywhere. Back when, they were all silent creatures, creatures exibiting incredible intelligence, perfect bodies, brutal cunning and aparently all knowing what the other was doing. It is said they were all in perfect coordination, as if a greater intelligence controlled them all. And yet, no sentience or conscience to be found. They were a scourge that lasted for years. They sought to conquer, kill and rape, using men and women to breed - for their gametes are less fertile than human ones, and further breeding between them lowers their fertility with time. They were united by a psychic hive mind called The Hollow Hive, of which every single member is a decentralized node - kinda like a computer cloud network.

They almost took over their birth region, yet were defeated by a legendary hero and their leader destroyed. This defeat changed things. They fled everywhere. Then strange individuals started appearing near settlements, talking and communicating. And with barely any memories if any, of what they once were, merely scattered info in their own brains, telling tales about an over-arching mind which controlled them, and how they slowly realized they could think and act by themselves.

They are mutate commonly, and the mind controlling them often seeks radiation and other mutagens in order to change and alter its creatures, to creature new evolved strains. There are many strains, with the most degenerated ones being used as cannon fodder and the superior ones reproducing. Males are generally stronger and more mutated than females, because they are more disposable and wasting uteruses is inneficient. Females are generally less mutated, and generally take the job of guardians and protecting their young.

The defeat divided their species into two groups: The Hollow and the Free. The Hollow are as they were, unthinking monsters controlled by a Hive Mind (but this mind is "hollow", it no longer has a will other than Survival and Domination). The Free Meta Mutants are actual individuals, but being severed from their hive mind changed them. Some are very social and even needy, some are ultra-individualistic loners, some are normal, a minority seek a way to replace the niggling absence of a common mind.

These creatures in both groups eventually appeared in the Caribbean, where they started interacting with them. The Hollow Meta Mutants attacked that region, and almost ravaged it, being stopped by another legendary hero, as well as their sentient cousins. Since then, they became a permanent fixture in the region.

The Meta Mutants entered human society from the Guyanan Plateau to Florida with varying degrees of success. In some places, they are discriminated against and persecuted, in others they are not only accepted but actively assimilated within society.

Due to their different mutation-caused appearances, their culture is often divided by appearance. The most human-looking ones, often handsome creatures, become part of human society, marry and create families. The more deformed strains are outcasts, shunned and often hated, sometimes by their own kin.

Racists consider them a threat to human purity, and fear that they will "pollute" the purity of human blood. Some believe they will eventually replace humans entirely.

Their inspirations were all the technicolor aliens of classic movies and media, and the aliens from the novel Blindsight by Petter Watts. I also wanted a species that would let me deal with racial issues that Fallout never dealt with before.

The Cat-Eyed People: A group of rather normal-like human mutants. However, their eyes mutated and their eyes are more like that of cats. Their vision is inferior at day, but at night, their vision is multiple times better than human night vision. Their eyes are pretty much like that of cats. They are in constant demand for their services, being able night hunters, watchmen, thieves and such. They have a clannistic culture and often use these advances to send money and resources back to their homeland, which is a secret place due to fear of persecution. It is said they live in "eternal darkness", where man cannot see. It is said that the Cat-Eyes are nocturnal, but it is unknown if that's a genetic trait or just cultural.

The Machinated Men: Survivors of the Great War who had their genes harmed by radiation. Their bodies deteriorated and even radiation cures could't save them from mutation. They took shelter in a pre-war cybernetics facility, and started studying and using these cybernetics to replace their deteriorated body parts. Following generations were also born with the same problem, they grown and then their bodies start to fail and deteriorate. They amputate the deteriorating parts and replace them with bionics to stave off the decline, until they are more machine than human.

Their society is based on a quest to seek a cure to their condition, of advancing cybernetics, resisting pain and suffering. Dissidents believe to search for such a cure is folly, and they should transcend flesh entirely. Others believe that the key to their future is a perfect blend of machine and flesh.

Shark-Men: Nobody knows if they are men who were turned into sharks, or sharks who were turned into men. These enigmatic human-like shark creatures are huge, tough and strong. They are not purely aquatic but can live both in land and water. They can walk fast, and are even better swimmers. They are carnivores but not relentlessly aggressive against humans, preferring to remain far from humans most of the time, only attacking them in extreme starvation or seeming aggression. They are very intelligent and dangerous, often showing cunning unbecoming of mere animals. Their senses are incredibly accurate, and they can detect and manipulate electromagnetic fields like sharks do. Some people suspect these creatures are sentient, but all attempts at communication have failed so far. This breed exists in the Caribbean, but similar creatures have been found in Hawaii and may be linked.

(the truth is that if the Shark-Men are sentient, they are also pretty alien. Furthermore, they cannot communicate with us and don't even see us as sentient - after all, if we are sentient, why we never talked to them? What sort of species even communicate with stupid sounds? Any sentient species would obviously communicate through electric fields, like they do)
