New Van Buren screenshots

The graphics was near the prequel but still somewhat ugly.
Numbers above head....oh god :\
The dialogue windows are functional but totally weird at the same time, no immersion at all.

And i'm not talking about bodyes without scratches nor burned skin (pc's weilding a motherfucker-flame thrower)

art direction looks well in order its just the quality in these screens which seems sub par - back in that day i think a more Temple of Elemental Evil like approach would have looked better ... today .. 3d i think similar to troikas PA game would have been good ...

Are those weapons on inventory screen from RL?
not really, but they definately borrow from real guns.
Too bad they didn't want to continue the Fallout weapon style. I don't regret that it got shelved.

How many times do we have to say this? :?

The screenshots are from the pre-alpha tech demo that Black Isle produced, far, far, far away from the finished product.

So, they would change the stylistics of weapons because of true fans not approving them?

No, they would probably change the weapon stylings because these were only very preliminary *placeholders*. Yeesh.

- the power armour should have been be bulkier

-the only thing that should appear above NPCs should have been taunts/comments not HP modifiers

-the dialogue system is barren

-weird camera angle/zoom

-the user interface is plain ugly.

-power armour and police biker helmet! WTF is that?

-barrels with the radioactive hazard sign on them? give me a break! dont tell me....they explode on bullet impact?

-the main character has a neat looking t-shirt with a small number 13 on the back. that is plain dumb. I think he would catch a cold in the wastes

-I dont think that the graphics would have been much better in the final release. And yes, past Fallouts graphics were better. I heard that they used ingame sounds from the fast Fallout wich was good.

The game had potential, but it would have not been a Fallout game to be proud of.

Because in prisons, they really care about whether or not you'll catch a cold.

It looks like an obvious placeholder.

The zoom looks rather variable, contrast this to this.

If you look at the inventory screen, head and body armor have been decoupled.

I believe it is a prison jumpsuit, remember where the PC begins the full game. You can see more of it in concept art and a screen from character creation.

I don't know, what is so wrong with the dialogue window (besides not being allowed to make your own keywords)? It's simplistic but it no longer means having to have the entire screen consumed by the dialogue going on.

I wonder if the empty box next to the text was where the character's speaking graphic would appear, since if I remember right, talking heads were replaced by in-game graphics.

Too bad they didn't want to continue the Fallout weapon style.

All the items were painfully crafted from the 2d sprites to 3d, kudos for the artists. You would see a lot of different weapons in the final game, classical Fallout and weird new retro futuristic ones.

I was just reading on the fallout wiki about Van Buren, then come to NMA and BAM! New pics, so sweet! :D

So so sad it didnt get done.... :(

I know what you're thinking, "we've seen Van Buren screenshots before! Oldhat!" I know, but if you're all good boys and girls, we might have something extra for you tonight.
... are we there yet ?

Yummy. Does this mean we'll have an opportunity to play the demo  ?
