did this one get linked already?

I dunno, but yeah. I've heard Cosell on Flynn before, and he pretty much thinks exactly what I do. Flynn's impressive in poise and short-range accuracy, but as with any player that's really good at some stuff and really bad at other bits, him excelling is very context-sensitive.

hahaha.....you post stuff on fieldgulls?
awesome --- that's the site I check for seahawks info.

I would like to add that a good system and team environment can make a lot of players look good, and I think that's exactly what green bay is.
there were a lot of stupid green bay fans trying to run mccarthy out of town when he got hired.

belichick, and a lot of good coaches, always credit the players for wins, but the biggest difference to me between winning and losing is the coaching --- there are a lot of guys gettin' fat money right now because of their coaches.
probably best thing that could happen to flynn would be miami, but I guess we'll see.
anyway, I couldn't care one way or the other about flynn, but it was a topic of discussion in here.

I'll go out on a limb and guarantee that Flynn is better than TarJax. TarJax would still be TarJax, no matter how good the environment was -- and I'm not one to rip on him all that much, either.

One of the reasons Green Bay is a good environment for QBs is that the organization has a tradition of recognizing their talent and grooming them to maximize their potential. It's getting to be a fairly long tradition, too. Lots of ex-Packer backups have gone on to be successful with other teams. Mark "Bankrupt" Brunell, Aaron Brooks, Hass...

Anyway, sounds like Flynn is not going to be franchised, so everyone should have a shot at him. I agree Miami's going to be the best fit.

That Stephen Hill kid from GT really blew up the combine. Impressive numbers.

Have for a year or two now, as an editor. First mostly news, now analysis pieces like that one, though never more than one a week. FG is a good blog, though it's kind of declining in quality.

That's not going out on a limb, that's obvious. Flynn is better than TJax.

Miami or Cleveland. Not sure why no one brings up the Browns, Flynn is basically a non-sucky version of Colt McCoy.

it's funny you should put it that way because on another board there's this one guy who's had an ongoing rant thread about how flynn will end up in cle, and it's been speculated quite a bit in the media.
maybe nobody in this thread brought it up, but it's usually mentioned about as often as miami.

the context I used was that miami might be the best thing for him, and I'm pretty sure I'd never say that about anybody going to cle.

I'd say Miami is a lot more likely simply because the Browns are in very good position to trade up for RG3.

Yeah, that's an interesting debate for Cleveland: sell your draft to get RG3 or draft a bunch of position players and go with Flynn? I can see a good case for either approach.

Like everyone else I love what I've seen of RG3. In a normal year he's undoubtedly the first overall pick. The Rams are sitting pretty with the impending bidding war.

After the combine I feel better about the Packers prospects for picking up a pass rusher to play opposite Clay. A bunch of those college DEs look like they can be 3-4 OLBs.

As the Browns, I'd definitely leap on RGIII. Flynn doesn't compare in potential, and even in floor he doesn't have enough NFL starts to say a ton about it.

But it does seem very un-Holmgren to sell out the draft for Griffin.

Saints busted for putting bounties on players, for example Favre in the NFC championship game...

There will be fallout (pun unintended).

Bounty or no bounty, I never liked how that NFCC game went down. Saints D crossed a line, and the refs never had control of the game. It's lame when they let any team get away with shit like that, that alters the outcome of a championship game. What the fuck is this, the NBA?
Then the NFL, in all it's infinite wisdom levies big fines after the fact and now this. Little bit late to matter, just posturing now to save face and reinforce the "player safety" charade, still pushing for that 18 game season though.

Black eye for the league, especially how reportedly deep knowledge of this went, and that they were warned to stop supposedly. Too bad, J. Vilma is probably my favorite NFL player, his rep taking some bad shots this year.

Who dropped the dime on them?

More like Taints.
That's a double pun dammit.

Gotta love all the naive outrage things like this and Spygate dredge up. Time for a public flogging to placate the mob.

I agree. That's what I remember most about that game, actually. Several serious cheap-shots that should have been flagged.

Yeah, money aside, I don't really even have a problem if a defense decides to trade 1st downs for some choice shots at the QB - but the refs failed to hold them accountable on that. Fines after the fact, when they are getting ready for the SB are a joke. Mission Accomplished.

I think this looks a lot worse than it really is, but perception is reality, and sullying the almighty shield is going to invite Goodell down on them something fierce.

Bwaaaaahahahhahahahhhahahahah Redskins. Three first-round picks and a second rounder to move up four spots? Way to torpedo your franchise, guys. You didn't exactly have the talent to go "we just need a QB and we're winners".

Also, Mark Sanchez got an extension. The Jets are morons.

I like what Dennis Miller had to say about this;

"When they decide to take getting hurt out of football, it's time to just end the NFL and we can all watch soccer." ~ Dennis Miller

I think you could take the diving-at-a-guy's-legs-for-a-$10,000-bounty out of football and it would still be okay. I'll trade you that for Goodell's stupid "leading with the helmet" interpretations.

Interesting to see how much better the NHL has been at handling the head-injury issue in parallel without gentrifying the game. On a lot of these issues I'm not so sure if Goodell only cares insofar as the PR and buzz effects the bottom line and marketability. Chill out Rog, you're already far-and-away #1.
