Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts

I've had to hear it several times, but I like it.

Two days left until 5. May.

After Discipline I feared we'd get something as "casual" as With Teeth, but thankfully it's not the case.

This is great stuff, LOVE those ambient tracks especially.

Holy shit...This new album sounds DIRTY, with a really live dimension to it. I love it. Seems that the tour is going to be wild. Love Robin Finck's guitar playing on this.

EDIT : Don't like all the album though. Like the production, far less polished than the other albums.

Lets get cracking on the artwork like whats the deal with that red pen all over the pdf? anyway heres the first one:

Could it just be referring to the 999,999 track if so what is that track even about?

Also i came across this picture i took a few years ago i think its totally Ghost worthy, what do you guys think?

Never really listened to NIN... time to see what the fuss is all about ;)

And no, I didn't play Quake either.

NNIIICCCCCCCCAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!

Gotta love this album.

VonDrunky:
When I've first seen the title (or titles with 1000000), my first thought was (without actually listening to them) that it might refer to '1 in a million'. And if my English-fu is correct, this expression is mostly used for the "Real One", the "One and Only", and how to find it.
After listening to the songs, it may still hold, but with a satirical edge to it, as it is more about refusing this myth, then supporting it.

As for the red lines:
It seems to me as blood-track left behind by the crawling of a wounded animal. Thus the songs are possibly memories from the past revisited again for some reason.
On the other hand, some images are missing the red lines, which can be reasoned for if you think that the whole album and the songs and the images with them are organized by one concept.
I don't know if that's true, though.

I have some more thoughts on the rest of the images+songs, but I'll wait for you to post the images:)

BTW, anyone in the Boston area coming for the show in Worcester in August?

While the ink being red can symbolize blood, i don't think its from a wounded animal. If you look closely you can see how its circled twice most defiantly with a pen or marker to show correction or change?

it almost looks like 9 6 9 9 6 6 9 6

This is what using the Internet is all about, not studying for law finals.

Mmmh, I may be wrong but you really shouldn't start with this album. It's really not representative of NIN. You should start with "The Fragile" album, by far his most interesting work imo, or with the live dvd "All that Could Have Been" which is a good live best of and an awesome show ( far better than "Besides You in Time" and a little bit less extreme and better played than the live performances of "Closure" ).

I'd say The Slip is more representative than The Fragile. The Fragile is one of its kind, Trent hasn't done anything like it again. Apart from The Fragile, The Downward Spiral and Ghosts I-IV, other records are more... rock oriented (though still different from each other), so I guess The Slip will give you a slightly better idea of what to expect in general.

I'd recommend you check out the music videos, some titles for you to look for at youtube: Head Like a Hole*, Sin, Wish, March of The Pigs, Closer*, Into the Void*, The Day The World Went Away, The Hand That Feeds, Only, Survivalism.

*these are probably most well known

I'm liking Slip quite a bit. I got a 4 hour drive tomorrow. Kinda looking forward to it now :)

Don't forget to check out the Broken movie ,a more obscure Nin film.
In the past I searched for it a very long time, now you can just view it on Youtube (of course.)
