NMA: Fallout 3 impressions

So many people however enjoy this game. You know there is a divide in opinion as that is the catalyst for the majority of discussions here. If Paul_cz enjoys the game and has fun playing it for over 45 hours then why shouldn't he judge the game great.

That's fair, but I don't think Paul has done a good job explaining exactly why he likes the game so much. That's why people keep bugging him for an explanation. I don't glean much from his posts other than that he likes the atmosphere, which is rather insufficient. If he had more specific substantiation for his position, people would respect it more.

On the other hand, Paul has no obligation to explain why he likes the game so much. If he doesn't want to, I'm not going to badger him.

I think it'd be justified to say people shouldn't badger him, except that whenever they do he goes "I don't have to explain myself, opinions differ".

Either give your reasons or just say "I don't feel like explaining myself", anything else is bull.

The most annoying thing ever was having a 24808423 hour text message flame war with my friend over FO3... him as a rabid fanboy, trying to convince me that my opinions were wrong. Robbie, if you're reading this, fuck you, ya canuck! Annexed.

Don't forget, kiddies, they're there because nuklear exploshuns are cool.

I know! It isn't like nuclear things were that common in the original games. God, its like when Bethesda decided the cars in the game should run on nuclear power! So stupid!

The first game was made in a time where hardware issues significantly constrained design.
What does hardware have to do with any of it? Isometric view, turn-based play, substantial dialogue - those are design choices, not technical limits.

Many of these conventions are there for a reason, because gameplay is important.

Making a game shinier and hiring Liam Neeson to do voice overs adds what to gameplay?
