NMA generally

Ok, everyonce and awhile I drop a note for general discussion about the site generally and what you guys would like to see more of, or less of.

So- any suggestions?
New topics to cover?
New games of interest?
New themes or topics?

How in the hell would Medieval 2 fit this site?
That said, there's no reason we couldn't discuss it more on Game forum.

Ok, other ideas?

I would love to see you guys post FO3 rumours as you never know some of this stuff could be good news.

Fallout 3 will involve parachuting deathclaws with binocles and philosophical dissertations. There will also be a Light Cycle minigame where you race against the spirit of Frank Horrigan who now haunts the 50s style intarweb.

Did that make you happier?

Oh, and the release date is Mar 6, 2007. They'll release it then even if it's not finished, then fix up the remainder with pay-to-download patches.

ha ha ha very funny.

Rumours that could have truth behind it not total bullshit.

Unless, of course, there is no truth behind them which would make them total bullshit.

Yes that may be the case sometimes but there could be truth to some rumours and depending on the people you get this information from it could come from a reliable source.

Has anyone tried contacting Beth and tried to get a exclusive interview or information for the long time fans? because if you guys have not, give me a NMA email address and I will try and set something up.

But you'll buy it, right?

It's not like we couldn't post them, as rumours with disclaimers and everything. A little bird heard through the grapevine...

See that is a great idea, I really think we should start to do it, you do know NMA is a fallout news site, an anything that could be news should be posted. At the moment we are just trying to fill in the the months with no news with just none related crap.

We should really be pushing for all the information we can get, in the old days you guys were the best for all fallout information, yes I may have only just joined the fourms but I have been visting this site for years.
Everyone should be looking up to this site as the best news coverage site for fallout like in the old days, I really think we can do this it just takes a bit of hard work.

thats my 2 cents.

I think you should look up the definition of *news* there, Serifan.

When I posted that PC Gamer article where Desslock said he saw Fallout artwork at Bethesda Studios, it couldn't have been anything other than a second-hand rumour. How long, exactly, has this policy been in place, or does a rumour need to be posted in PC Gamer of all things in order to be postable?

You should check your definition of "second hand" rumour.

My definition? My definition of a second-hand rumour would be one that wasn't derived from the primary source. What was it about Desslock that gives him more credibility in terms of "insider info" compared to VD, considering the fact that neither of them are insiders, but instead have inside contacts or actual access to the inside?

A first-hand rumour would have to be one derived from the contact or location which has leaked information without any tangible proof. If, of course, there was proof to back up the rumour, it would either be news, or a hoax.

No, the difference is that Desslock gets published in an international gaming magazine, and had a photograph of an AWESOME FALLOUT MUG!!!111 Also, Ratty posted that.

There's a difference between saying 'Hey, there's an article in this international magazine' and 'Hey, this guy from a gaming website (either ours or the Codex or whatever) claims...'
If only that the first is more tangible.

That said, none of us claimed they didn't believe either VDweller or Rosh on having heard this from the developers (or other people in Bethsoft).

Anyway, I'm going to stop posting on this now, considering the fact that, hey, I'm not even a newsposter. Heh.

And in Desslocks case HE WAS the primary source, he was the one that saw the stuff, and although the french guys had already seen it too they decided to shut up, while Desslock decided to talk about it (I think the thing was talked with Beth previously, Beth told DAC that the first info on FO3 would be out in December). So you are wrong on this.

Brady we have a long road ahead of us, full of bumps, and we need to make sure we don't go off road many times or Beth will gain advantage of that. This is not Interplay we are talking about, this is a company based in PR skills and communication capabilities, we need to be more careful this time. That's not to say VD is wrong, far from that, it's just we need to maintain good editorial standards, confirmation with other sources and thorough checking are conditions of those standards.

If we want to go head to head with Beth than we need to keep a profile more close to serious reporting than what comes up from The Inquirer, because in the end this will be a battle of credibility.

And again in principle we should give the best reporting possible, this is a service to the community, people rely on us for good cross checked info, ans we have an obligation to deliver it.

Bethesda gave me their rights to develope Fallout yesterday! Just thought I would be a good idea to tell you guys Im planning on doing this thing right. Im scrapping the whole iso thingie (its just sooo 90's). People are more used to a regular FPS anyway. Then I thought it would be great If I could reuse the old oblivion models I got with the source code (yeah I got that too!) to save some development time. The story is pretty much completed. That was the most awesome part of the job. I mean, since Im doing this free-roaming world, theres really no need for intense, touching storyline! I will give the players a chance to imagine their own instead!

Man I cant wait to publish this thing! So don't sweat, next week I'll be taking preorders.

Im counting on making the front page with this. For the more I sell, the bigger the chance of a sequel for you guys! ..And a possibility to reunite with Interplay (who did the original! WOOT!)

Meh, I don't mind NMA. But a few members and staff really don't deserve there place here. But, whatever, I can't change that, so I'd better get used to it right?
