Talking to PlayStation Universe, Pete Hines reveals that on top of no DLC, the PS3 version will not have trophies at launch.<blockquote>"Not at launch," said Hines, during an interview with PSU.com to be published later today.

"It remains to be seen what we do down the road. It wasn't something we were able to incorporate into the game for launch."</blockquote>Harsh. Definitely no love for PS3 gamers there.

Thanks Incognito.

Don't care about achievements, don't care about trophies.Hopefully its going to be possible to switch them off in PC version, I don't want that stupid achievement to popup everytime I do something new.

Am glad that DLC will be on PC, though.

PC won't have achievements or trophies, those are for the PS3 amd X360 versions.

its been confirmed that pc wil have achievments (from what i remembeR)
as a ps3 user i will get the ps3 one...i dont care about that stupid trophy gimmick...as long as the ps3 version runs AS GOOD as the xbox 360 its all good
if it doesnt run that good bethesda can ^&&^ my %$%$$# sorry for the censored but i am really angry about xbox getting dlc and stuff because bill gates is humping todd

I think, this poping up achievement messages are breaking the imershun.

They said it was gonna be Games for Windows right? If so definitely achievements but you can turn off the notifications in your GFW profile. Still have to wait and see if you can turn off the cash register XP noise though.

Also i don't think it is a lack of love, it is pretty well known that the trophy system was just recently tacked on. Even Sony isn't fully supporting it with their fall games this year.

It's not a fallout sound, it's a windows sound. I believe it can be silenced in the windows control panel.

As for trophies, I'm not suprised. It's a really new feature for the PS3, and a lot of games don't have them implemented yet.

Actually the kaching denotes xp, you can still hear the achievemant sound as well in the background.

This will probably sound extremely stupid, but I'm not an avid gamer and I'm curious: what are Trophies?

I've tried googling it, but except for some articles mentioning Trophies in relation to PS3, they don't care to explain what Trophies are.

Anyone care to enlighten me? I assume it's some sort of virtual reward or is there more to it?

It's the PS3 equivalent of 360 achievements.
I still had to google that. Am I "correct" if I say it's some sort of score you can get by playing against other gamers (online) when completing certain goals and such? 'Cause that's how I understood it after reading some stuff on Wikipedia.

What I don't get is why it's become a marketing gimmick and why (certain) gamers like the inclusion of said system in their games?
It just sounds like an e-penis thing to me, similar to one's postcount on boards. Right?

Indeed. While I wouldn't want achievements (wouldn't log into GFWL for PC assuming I bought the game), it goes to show the lack of love for the PS3. Having stuff on the other platforms that continues not to show up on the PS3 would be extremely troubling if I were a PS3 owner looking to buy this game. It creates the worry that maybe they haven't spent as much time making the game work well on the PS3 as it does on the other platforms (not uncommon for the PS3 or ports in general).

No effect on me but I'd think that if this continues it might create some really bad PR for the PS3 version...

It's because the PS3 is a powerful, but expensive (for developers AND consumers) and ultimately failed console. Sony spent 3 billion on that mess, and they're never going to make that back from the PS3.

The "lack of love" you speak of is simply devs not wanting to waste money tricking out a game for a console that has been selling like shit; which means the game on that console is going to sell like shit as well.

On the topic of achievements; there are quite a few gamers who will play ANY game as long as it has achievements, to boost their e-peen (jeff gerstmann falls into this catagory).

The PS3 version also has to compete with the port of BioShock (October 21/24), which is showing a lot more love for PS3 owners.

I wouldn't say the PS3 is a failed system, it was instrumental in Sony winning the Blue ray vs. HDDVD war.

It had a terrible launch in North America, but is steadily picking up steam. I own all 3 latest consoles. The Wii is going up for sale, and given the option I'll play on PS3 instead of 360 because I prefer the controller, and the harddrive installs tend to smaller load-times now.

There are lots of games coming out that don't support trophies out of the box, because they've only been available since the last (or second-last) update. Doesn't give devs a lot of time to put in the feature. It can usually be added pretty quickly via a patch though.
