No Mutants Allowed front-page redesign

Very nice indeed except for the logo.I would play a bit with it.
I am pretty sure it would look better without the white background.
 
Everything has to change a bit, and I have to say this new design is classy. Good work lads!

However, white background is a bit much, I'd go for a browner one to save my eyes :p
 
Geez, you're trying to give me a heart-attack or someting? My first reactions were: "Who are you, and why have you stolen the nma website?" ;)
You could have given us a heads-up on the news page yesterday so some of us wouldn't have been caught completely unaware.

I do miss Marcus at the top, but he has been there for a very long time now and well... doesn't Bethesda own him now? Might be a good time to put something else up there now.

Something like the nma road sign, or some other small picture would be nice. Wasn't there a road sign on the front page ages ago? I don't mean the road sign that's currently on top of the forum pages, but another rougher looking with yellow/black color scheme?


Overall I think I like the new layout.
 
Kudos to Wooz, Monsharen, Odin and Korindabar for the new design . . . . . . but this is very Web 2.0. Large elements, white background, weird icon instead of a simple Comments(X). I had assumed I loaded up the wrong site at first.

It zooms wonderfully, though. Absolutely wonderfully -- no weird shit like most sites that go through this transition.
 
I'm not sure I like the color scheme very much. It does feel faster and that's good, but the colors don't mesh well together. The white background is really difficult to read things on, compared to the previous color scheme.

Please fix it! I don't want to read articles on this color scheme right now. :crazy:
 
I'm OK with the redesign, but there are some things that bug me:
1) The ad pops out more than tha banner - you are saying that it'll change - so I'll keep my eyes peeled (and set my egg timer :lol: ). Maybe it could be higher too - same height as the ad right now :x
2) the white background BURNS MY EYES WAAAAGH! Tone it down with a texture or just plain change the color itself to something that doesn't induce death through ocular means.

Without the mutie banner it's also a bit more... generic. Also I wouldn't mind a good ol' FO shelter sign

Maybe some cool dude might even make a nice PayPal button that's more fallout/wasteland-themed
 
My uh...my first reaction was

"What the fuck is this shit"

(I actually said it out loud, because I thought I went to some other website)

After realizing it is NMA and it got redesign, my second reaction was

"holy shit this is awesome"

that about sums it up.

Now, onto exploring it in more detail!
 
The design is pretty, nice and clean as stated by others, but if i were to stumble upon this site for the first time, it wouldn't hold my attention for a second. It doesn't have any charater, it just looks like one of the many uninteresting sites that i don't really care about.
 
The new design is good in terms of tech, design and such (I actually really love it), but is lacking the old NMA spirit. :( Can't atleast the old colour palette be brought back? Then it'd be perfect. :)

E: The greenish background could easily receive something yellow, like it was in the old one. Grab a pallette of the Fallout games to stay even more true. :) The darkish-blue elements could be a wee bit brighter. As others said, atleast make the plain white backgroud a BIT darker, or mix in some very very slight brown/yellowish taint (like in the "paper" background of my signature picture, just less yellow, a bit lighter)
 
Very good job on the redesign, dudes. Everything is a lot more clean and clear.

I do agree that the main page needs some blending though. Maybe make the white slightly yellow in agreement with the yellow/blue theme?

Also, if it were up to me, I'd bundle Fallout 3 with BOS into a Fallout unmentionables section, considering the attitude toward the game on the site. Though, I guess it IS a major title in the series.
 
Please make the NMA header clickable (homepage) and include Marcus there soon!

And a bit darker background might be good too.
But overall I like it a lot.
 
It's OK, I suppose... Still though, as others stated, the color palette, if changed, would make the site look even more interesting.
 
The design is pretty good, just build a nice banner (Maybe Myron should take the reins :P ), and ease off on the eye burn, remember most of us are cave dwellers.

Start a competition for the banner - there are plenty of good artists that regularly post in the threads, Alec's one, they could design one.
 
i agree that the color palette is a bit of a flash to the eye, but such things are always a matter of getting used to.

ive always had a penchant for a "sandy" look, and as such i always liked the old layout of nma.
and i did like marcus' old face on the front page :D

in fact, one of my tiny "bonus-loves" for this site was its consistency :D while other sites change and change, i could check back to nma and see that it was both
1 unchanged layout-wise, and
2 not simply abandoned, the content kept updating (if a page layout is unchanged over several years, it usually is simply abandoned). this warmed my heart :D
