NPC Armor

@Golan: Yes, it will be in RP 1.2

@ Vault_dweller: Team X are working on that. You'd
have to ask them.

You can compress mod 7z at maximum compression?

Huh!? I don't understand.

Hi! I am new here.

I have been watching your project for a while and I must say that you guys have done excellent job with all new armor appearances for NPCs.

I am willing to help you with your project so yesterday I started doing Cassidy in leather jacket. So far I have done almost all his unarmed standing animations.

Now I need your opinions! Which one looks better for Cassidy.

Original Jacket with one sleeve

Having edited the arms of the leather jacket animation I've got to ask what you plan to do about the weapons animations. You could only make the pistol animation for example with dual pistols since his right hand always holds the weapon. Thus you're either going to have to fudge around with unarmed arms if you pardon the pun and put them in to the weapon animations or you'll have to fudge it.

I suspect that both ways will look quite dodgy no matter how you do it since the recoil and knockbacks will probably be slightly off and the arm might jump around.

I personally would suggest that you do the one sleeve since it will be considerably easier and will look better in the long run, no matter how cool the other is ;)

All the best!

Good work JuZo. I agree with Hotel California that you
should stick with the one sleeve jacket. Basicly, it will
make things easiest if you stick with the Hero critter
body, and only change the head.

The problem with the one-sleeve leather jacket (and
the reason we didn't do it) is that it's un-flippable.
This means you can't only do the NE, E, SE views
and then mirror them to get the NW, W, SW views.

But hey, it's not really a problem and it's not that
much more work to just do all views. If you find
yourself running out of steam PM me and i'll help
you out with some sequences.

Ok I will stick with the one sleeve leather jacket.I looked the death animation sections and I can really see that they are easier to do with that jacket. Thanks for your opinions.

BTW I just finished all the unarmed walking frames.

Nice work. Perhaps this will find its way into the 1.2 (definitely later if not finished in time) release of the Restoration Project. Not wanting to rush you, but any idea on the timeframe for this? I realize there are hundreds of animations and it is quite tedious, so again I am not rushing you.

Well I am not really sure about the time frame but I really hope that I can get Cassidy done before July.
There is still lot of work to do but luckily there are some death animations where Cassidys head explodes so I dont have to redo whole animation :D

Today I did all the following frames.

-Healing/using/drug using
-Item pick up
-Evasion/enemy misses

I think it is time to get some sleep now.Good night!

Just a random fellow Fallout fan coming out of the woodwork...

The NPC Armor in the Restoration Patch is amazing.

Something I was thinking though. After I saw how cool and unique your party members look I couldn't help but notice that the player character looks pretty boring in comparison now. I'm not exactly sure how you could make the PC different like the NPCs but, just something to throw out there.

I just figured since it's *your* character, he/she should have a distinct look from the NPC character models.

I couldn't agree more. It's not exactly what you mean,
but check this thread out for new Hero graphics i'm gonna be back on soon.

The problem with making any graphical modifications to the Hero
critter is there is both Male and Female, and they have animations
for EVERY weapon - that's a shit load of animations to do ... :(

This might not be a great suggestion, but might be enough of a quick and dirty change to the hero images to make he/she distinguishable from all others.

Put a yellow 13 on all the images like found on the jumpsuit, or maybe not *exactly*, but that "13" in "yellow" shows up somewhere on every armor type he/she wears. Afterall, the hero is a tribal and the holy "13" would supposedly be an important symbol to him/her.

Just a stray thought.

YES, something like that.

A little more would be something like being able to see the jump suit under certain armors. Like the sleeves for the armors that don't have them.

I always thought it was strange that you seemed to take the Vault Suit off when putting on armor.

A good idea. I like it. Unfortunately, still a crapload of work. Even adding something as simple and small as sunglasses, or a sheriff's badge to the hero critter (two things i'd love to add) is alot of work.

Now, there are some changes that are easy. Some things can be automated in Photoshop. One, which i've been testing for use on myron, is resizing. You can set photoshop to use no interpolation blurring, and it can resize 1000-odd frames (to 92% in the case of myron) in about 60 mins. The other, is recoloring where you automate it to replace selected colour(s) with whatever colour you like. I've actually done both, and they work well. Resizing can mess up the offsets a little.

Here's another idea. A sprite wearing Frank Horrigan armor, but scaled down to the size of the Power Armors.

A guy can dream =P

How can I extract frms in order to edit them in photoshop and then compile them back to frms? Which tools would you suggest?

Actually, that's really easy. What did you have in mind for it?

EDIT: @ Jay-F - You can download the FRM's from NMA.
I use Frameanimator to open the FRM's, and save them
to a folder. Then edit them in Photoshop (but do NOT
move them from the folder) and them recompile them
in Frameanimator.

Nothing really. Other than a different sort of look, I guess.

Although now that I really think about it his Kick animation would look strange when normal sized. You'd be kicking at shins XD

Edit: Maybe some different colors...wouldn't want to look exactly like Horrigan...

Ah thanks... but why do I have to download them here? Shouldnt they be already on my hd?^^ I'd like to modify Miria's FRM so she wont change her hair color when wearing an armor. Telling me the FRMs names would spare me alot of time
