It was a stupid joke but I also think it's ridiculous for people to claim Chris Rock was being "toxic". It was a dumb J.I. Jane joke about hair loss (which is what Jada has... she's not suffering from some kind of deadly disease) that Chris Rock probably didn't even write himself.

I'm guessing the joke was written by one of the Oscars writers or producers.

That's not to say that whole thing wasn't staged in the first place. The Oscars has been falling in popularity for awhile, I mean hell, think about when the last time was that you even talked or thought about it before this.
 
Eh, Chris said far far worse stuff during his career as a comedian. And I don't know. Maybe I am overthinking this. But to me it felt like Smith actually laughed about it at first and then decided to ... I don't know, act tough? *Shrugs*
It's a shit show. It's meaningless. And that is why everyone can talk about it. You can forget the real stuff that's going on. This is the bullshit that people want back. Talking about meaningles stuff.

I will say tho, that it is a shit joke. Not even because it being a below the belt one, but rather, what the fuck even is G.I. Jane? Is that even a movie that exists? It's like an obscure movie from 97 that doesn't even have a good rating, are jokes now just name dropping references that most people don't even get? At least make like a Furiosa joke or somethin...

It is because the last time Chris Rock was relevant it was the 90's.

Rock deserved to get slapped for such a lame joke. now they just need to smack the person who wrote it too.
