Old(er) games that deserve a remake/sequel

Final Fantasy 6 (hopefully one day on DS)

I dunno man. While I found the FFIII remake be decent, it felt weird, too arcade-like, and gosh, they should NOT have tried to change the story. Nowhere near the 8-bit original, anyway.

God knows what could happen to FFVI.

I haven't played the FFIII remake but the change from 2D to 3D was not one that appealed to me. I'd much prefer that they just redid the sprites in a higher resolution (like FF1 remakes for example) if they were to do one. That said, graphics don't much matter for any of the 2D Final Fantasy games and FFVI is at a level that I really have no aesthetic problems with it (FFIV and FFV are worse but still fine).

EDIT: I really would like Chrono Cross to be remade, preferably a version that went through a lot of editing, redesigning, and rewriting (thinking added material) which has the goal of being a great game and a great sequel to Chrono Trigger rather than having 60 characters (they only had thirty-someodd because of time constraints, only a handful of which have more than one section of plot in the game and only two of which were main characters). I'm suggesting that they remove all of the superfluous playable characters that aren't developed and just leaving in and expanding on those who are. It'd also be great if they worked more of Radical Dreamers into it and actually put in and developed Magus, instead of changing him into Guile because of a lack of time to develop him with the other thirty characters.

On the note of Chrono Trigger I'd also like to see Radical Dreamers get officially translated and released in the US (thinking virtual console). It's more of an interactive story than it is a game but I found it very well written (though it was an unofficial translation and it's been a few years since I've played it).

I'd really like to see a Silent Hill 1 remake. I'm having this thought cause I started replaying it today. It's a brilliant atmospheric game that could really use a graphics and sound improvement, and would scare the hell out of all these younger gamers who now think that "Dead Space" is a scary game. It's the only one in the series that really needs a remake, every other, including Silent Hill 2, still look pretty damn good.

I played Silent Hill for the first time on a PS 1 with vibrating handcontrols (which was state of the art at that time). I played alone, in a dark room during evenings and nights and I have to agree.

A splendid game with a mood of terror and anticipation.

I bought Silent Hill 1 off ebay about a year or two ago to show it to a friend who never played it. I felt a little self concious and embarrased since I knew the graphics where going to turn him off, but even showing up years late to the party he was genuinly creeped out by it. Great game, slap some fancy graphics on it and it would be terrifying. I would like to see it control better, like your character should still be weak and more prone to running than fighting, but running should be natural and easy.

I would love to see remakes of Fallout Tactics in 3d, also X-Com and of Jagged Alliance. I love those games but they are a little hard on the eyes besides that they would benefit from a little streamlining.

Me too. Give me silent hill 1 graphic update, perhaps with few optional changes. Like enabling non-manual reload. I hated having to go to inventory to reload. But it should be optional.
I dont want anything else changed really.
Just update the graphics.
Hell, give me graphical update on these games: Deus Ex, Max Payne,Quake 1&2, Command & Conquer,Starcraft, Diablo, Duke Nukem 3D, Fallout, Planescape ETC ETC.

Sound is at least 50% of Silent Hill atmosphere, so I'd say sound quality really needs to be improved too. Try playing Silent Hill 2 and 1, difference in sound quality is pretty obvious. Yeah, and I agree about reload, you should be able to do it without going to inventory. That's about all that needs to be done.
