One of the most amazing FPS Videos Ever

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
Now I know weve all played Half-Life and most of us have probably tried deathmatch. Regardless if you've played any FPS multiplayer you'll be amazed and scared of this:

The guy has such knowledge of the map and the use of the gauss gun to propel himself he can pick up every single item in a run of only a few seconds. Just considering the time it must have taken him to memorize the map and perfect the aim and timing with the gun must have been arduous, but just as much he doesn't even need mass items to win since he never misses and almost only gets headshots!

Am I supposed to be impressed?

I mean...that's just sad.

I saw the beginning of the video and I saw him miss pretty often.

If you saw him shooting at walls/floor it was to propel himself into the air. Remember you can jump like 4 feet and propel yourself the same height by shooting the gauss gun at the ground however if you do both at the same time it multiplies and you can easily fly far into the air. Also if you ever saw him shoot at a wall with the gauss gun remember it's shots go through walls. That explains how he got that one kill when he shot at a wall and you didn't see any blood or a body.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I hadn't even thought of that...I suppose you could see someone run into a room then take their speed of movement and guess their location at any moment, but it would be luck as much as reflex. Quite possible he hacked now that you mention it.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

No, I saw him miss, when he was firing at a target - basically, he was spraying at it with some kind of automatic weapon, sometimes changing weapon during a fight.

meh... i've never been impressed with HLdeathmatch/Quake/UT style gameplay. also, due to the speed, it's impossible to know if he's using hacks or not (you can do a SHITLOAD of things just with sound in HL based games).

Never seen or played HL1 DM before, but this video don't look anything like i expected. It looks more like Q1/Q3 kind of gameplay, back in those days most of the skilled players played like that or better.

Watch some old QW replays if you dont belive me, some really sick people out there back then :) Also the mod to QW, Team Fortress had some skilled players.

Have a look, some sick air gibbs in there:

I've only watched the first 5 minutes or so, but i can't say i'm honestly impressed.. his aim is pretty far from world's best, he misses some easy shots, is too slow to take some others... And he isn't playing against good opponents too, far as i can tell. His movement isn't all that impressive either, watch some defrag or warsow vids if you want to see impressive movement.

He's pretty good, and obviously knows his shit, but not more than that.

I'm not kidding, I think he was hacking.
How the hell did he see people through walls?
There is no radar.

mp_footsteps 1, memorization of spawns, item pickup/respawn sounds etc

I doubt he hacks, there's a lot more to the game than just aiming. You can tell he's extremely skilled from how he gauss jumps and bunnyhops. It doesn't mean he's not a hacker, but I'm equally impressed by his movement as I am his aim, and the movement obviously can't be hacked.

I also haven't played HL1DM and am surprised... didn't really expect the gameplay to be that intense. It looks pretty cool, but I dunno if it would be fun with any more than four people.
