OOC Chapter 3 Lone Wanderers

Gah, so much activity happening in the boards today (being a moderator is tough).

Bu ha haha haha!!! Yes, my young friend, it is at that.

Okay, Syphon, you wanted to know if you're character can fall in love with a NPC? I'm okay with that, since a love interest is just NPC interaction. NPC's are always a good choice to fall back on if your character is getting too stale for your tastes. And there's no law against a love interest, since Gabriel and Rogue have something going between them.

I quite agree. A love relationship is not forbidden and a new NPC could be kind of fun. Where you take it is up to you. But note, in past chapters NPCs and even PCs have gone off the board. For example, Skink is still back in Tabis, as is Wally, Yacob, Horus, and a host of others.

Also having introduced an NPC doesn't mean you own him or her. WHile rules of courtesy prevail and we should confer with each other before wasting an NPC, everyone's likely to get wasted somewhere along the line.

Syphon, you really should have posted your request in the OOC board. Please do not respond to PsychoSniper's reply in the IC post, he's just trying to incite chaos. Maverick, please post your ideas on the suggestoin in the OOC topic (but you're new here, you didn't really know).

Agreed. Since we are taking a new direction in sharing ideas, lets flesh them all out on the OCC board. It will make life easier. I will provide what back story I can should we get lost.

Gunslinger- I think the idea for getting rid of marine is fine. I had originally figured the Slayers were there to reclaim technology from the crashed recon drone that is in Pipboy's possession and is being tinkered with by Virgil and Jim. I had considered the interaction of the spy as being part of this situation as well.

AH one problem. We have a spy amongst the party which I have yet to reveal. Do you want the spy revealed or kept secret?

I speak, of course, only for myself whan I say keep it a secret.

Reveal it whenever U want to, preferbly when best for dramatic effect.

is it virgil ?
the Plasma pistol seems outta place.

Keep the spy's secret a secret, welsh. If you need to tell one of the players, PM as you did me. Let's let the general public (which I like to consider as the "audience") guess.

Oh, and just because Virgil has a plasma pistol doesn't mean he's the spy. It's out of place but it has been explained (in Lone Wanderers, ghouls apparently have an affinity for high-tech such as the Reactor and weapons). Read the beginning of chapter three if you want to know more.

Virgil was played quite well but the player disappeared and has not come back. I have sent him a few PMs but he hasn't returned.

It happened. Virgil has since gotten to be something of technician NPC for the group and has taken a back seat to a lot of the story. Ideally he will fit in more with Jim and Pipboy.

If some1 DOES guess right, can you PM them or at least mention them OCC in the post that reveals the spy.

This naturally leads to the dilemma of what the writer knows and what the reader knows.

Welsh and I have been PMing back and forth, composing the general outline of the story's progress. I think that with welsh, it's a lot easier to convey how the story moves because he's fanatically active in Lone Wanderers and he's eloquent besides. I've been kinda leery of posting ideas in the OOC thread since I'm sure that we've got readers (or reader) who might not enjoy spoilers.

In general, you can post your plans in the OOC. But if it's a major development (as, in this case, who is the spy), then I suggest that you PM the players that are concerned with the developments.

Ok, couple of things-
Syphon- I have just included the possibility of a mechanical arm. I know, I know, it's a stretch. The problem is that Syphon's wound would actively take him out of the game for a few weeks of game time. So here's an alternative.

Ok, the spy, will not tell.

The battle is about to begin.

Gruug, you still here?

I think I can go with the changes. But please, I'm going to get pissed right up the wall if PS suddenly takes this plan right out of house.

What is going on.

This is cooperative novel in the process.

So what's going on.

Pscyho's character was indeed at the University when the attack on the University took place. But he wasn't a marine, even if he thinks he is. Rather he is a special project that has gone haywire. The ghouls had found him wandering around the wastes and had brought him to the University to be checked on and investigated.

The Slayers have been after him for awhile. This as to do with the strange beeping coming from inside Psycho's corpse's head.

The University got zapped because the spy found out the ghouls were working on a special project, a project trhat might be used against either the Others or The League - their own little weapon of mass destruction. The spy also learned about the tin can found by the ghouls, so the university became a big target.

In preparation of an attack, the League sent in a drone to do a recon, not expecting it to get shot down. Their intelligence said that the air defenses of the University were not operable. But they were wrong.

The drone went down, despite the League's reports that the defenses not operating right (fixed thanks to Jim). It was enough intel to do the zap, and a mightly important zap it was. Unlikely we will see something like that for awhile. Note that the League and Slayers have not even attempted such an attack on Grey Cliffs of such a magnitude (well at least not yet).

And the Slayers had another operation. (1) to assess damage, (2) to reclaim what technology they could on the drone that might be traced back to the League, and (3) to reclaim psycho's wayward character.

But after the attack Psycho's character followed the caravan, shaken up further for having survived the attack. He might have caught up earlier but had to dig himself out of the rubble and the damage to the suit was quite bad. The ghouls had left him behind figuring that he had been destroyed in the attack.

When the Slayers came to to the University to investigate, they found the technology was gone, that the University had been indeed hit, but the special project was still not there, and that psycho's character had left as well.

One should imagine this battle as kind of a prelude to what we can expect in Chapter 4.

Well, since I dont want to cause a clusterfuck (like before), I'll leave it up to y'all to decide when to introduce my vault dweller characther.
Maybe when Syphon goes for the robot arm, have me meet him there, or some other way.
Stats are in the locked characther page.
