OOC Chapter 3 Lone Wanderers

Well, i know of atleast 4 people who read this and there not even members of the site, well atleast i don't think they are.

Been kinda busy of late again, i'll try and post somthing soon.
Now, i must go and teach a lesson in my ICT class for my course. I'm actually quite nervous about it which is unsual...but atleast every one has to do it so that isn't to bad.

The five day rule

Indeed, the five day rule! Actually it wasn't originally my idea but another role play board.

So far no one has been killed for this. Skik has faded into the back in this chapter and Fang is very MIA but neither have died.

Look, its summer, people are going away for vacation. I will probably be away for about a week at the end of hte month. I think Reaper and Jacin are disappearing for awhile. Stranger might be on vacation. Gunslinger and Rogue, I am pretty sure you are off on vacation sooner or later.

So the 5 day rule is very lax. Hopefully we will have two new characters join us soon, but I expect this chapter to move very slowly for awhile. Before then, I would like it to cover a bit more distance.

If we don't finish Chapter 3 by the end of August, that's fine, but I think its important that we pace this thing well.

It it gets boring, or people don't post, it will just fade away. Remember Chapter 1? That finished mostly because some of the writers got pissed off and didn't want to leave it without finishing.

But no worries, no one will get killed for not posting, but you might get left in the dust.

Well, i don't dissapear on holy for some time yet and i have the added bonus of the Internet during my entire holydays (If that is a good thing i'm not sure) so i will still be able to post even from a different country. I think in all there will maybe be a week where i won't have any means to post but that aint so long.

Oh and nice post with the night blade!

I must compliment Gunslinger on his Nightblade post - except I was annoyed because I'm supposed to be the assassin writer and he upstaged me (te he). Still, if he does it better, I have no right to complain.

Good stuff.

new charactes

New Folks,

Three new characters have been threaded into the story, so feel free to post.

Cheers,

Well, gents, I'm afraid I'm going to take a leave for a while. Heading to Oregon (one state above me, how adventurous) and I'll be gone for at least a week...p'raps even longer.

I had intended to make one last post but I'll leave you with a cliff-hanger and alot of loose ends so I'm assured you can't kill off Caleb. It's my own personal insurance.

Anywho, I highly doubt I'll be given a chance to post since I'll be lacking both a computer and the internet. No, it's no because Oregon is a backwards state; it's because my grandparents shy away from such things. I'll be writing of course (I can't stop, it's in my blood) but I'll be doing it the old-fashioned way: with quill and ink and parchment.

So...Cheers!

The Gunslinger,

Steve

I wanted to post once more today but I was very busy with preparing to leave on holiday.

Hope you guys have a great time while I am away and I also hope that your characters are still in good shape when I get back.

I hope you will take good care of Gabriel - remember, he is a cold killer, but living out in the wastes for a while is forcing him to start making moral choices. I imagine deep down he has the right idea, ie he supports good over evil and opposes pointless cruelty but he has no compunction about using violence to get what he wants.

Portray him as cold and calm, occasionally callous, always ruthless, but still trying to do the right thing. I know that can be a hard combination but when you can find the time, it would be great if you could post the odd thing involving Gabriel. I would love to read them when I get back.

Have a good time and I will read your stuff in three weeks. Be well.

caravan trail

Ok folks, we are now kind of in an in between stage. Things are going to happen soon, but not much violence but a lot more role play. More action is coming, but right now, the caravan is mostly just traveling East.

We've got a couple of small subplots moving. The caravan is continuing East and will have to get past the Rift. The Rift was first mentioned by Gunslinger and where Caleb and Jeeva tired to cross, the Rift is a big gorge.

Where the caravan is crossing is more of a depression, a trail going down into a lower area then across and then up again. Imagine crossing the Grand Canyon except the canyon is neither so deep nor so steep. Are there critters there? Maybe. Please feel free to improvise as you will.

After the Rift it will be probably a day of traveling before the next encounter, and that's a minor one. After that, a few days travel more and then things will happen.

Another story concerns the interaction between new characters and old characters.

There is a Nat's cart to repair and keep up, so hopefully we will see more of Virgil and Gruug helping out. There will continue to be scouts needed, so maybe we can see more of Blade and Buffy in action.

Likewise, there is a story about collecting the money to pay off Reed so he can lay off Nat. How the money is to be collected needs to be worked out.

Gruug's character is introducing himself as a heavy handed stranger that is about out of place here in Fang's World. But we could expect more the same from Blade. Buffy is a character still unknown and I am not sure where Rudy Kafka fits into this.

This is a chance for the new characters to introduce themselves and become more involved with some of the old characters.

So please post about your character and give him or her more flesh and bones.

If you've read the old posts than you can get a figure on all the main or current characters. Here are a few-

But lets see-

Talon- fairly easy to get to know, an ex-slaver who is currently looking for his old friend Jeeva (who is out with Caleb). Professional soldier, tough and resourceful, fairly independent and still wears the brand of an ex-slaver.

Hook- old time borderpatrol and chief Borderman on this trip. Think of Hook as a military specialist who is also liason with other Borderpatrol outfits in the area and in the major towns.

Reed- the boss of the caravan. Only really cares about getting the job done. Materialistic and money orientated, he has a job to do and wants to get it done. His main concern is the caravan itself, but if he can make a few buck on the way, great.

Ibis- probably the oldest man on the caravan. Something of a seer, Ibis gets visions of the future that are almost prophetic. Easy to get along with, generous by nature and affable, he also wears the stigma of being a gravedigger (he ran a funeral home). Kind of creepy looking but also medically knowledgeable. Watch out for the three headed dog. It bites.

Grim- Old character of the story. Grim is an ex-badge, usual bounty hunter who is in the trip to find Caleb and because he knows that bad things are going to happen soon. Widowed, he is also looking for a long -lost daughter. He's very protective of Rogue, friendly with Gabe, and concerned about Caleb and easy to get along with. Older and more experienced, he often takes a leadership position. Grimm is currently undergoing some changes do to medical work done on him at the beginning of this chapter and in Chapter 2.

Rogue- A young woman who has been looking for her family and is currently trying to figure herself out. Rogue is good with a rifle and resourceful, loyal to her friends and adventerous in spirit. Slightly romantic in her heart she is also in this because she is trying to find Caleb and because she shares the knowledge with Gabe and Grimm that bad things are afoot.

Gabriel- An assassin with the Slayers, Gabe is keeping is identity to himself, and the others are not mentioning it. Gabe is more or less a loner who feels compelled to help his new friends. He has mixed loyalties between his father, the Slayers and his friends. He has been given the order to kill Caleb, but is unsure whether to carry it out. This dilemma he keeps secret from the others.

MCready- Old time scout for the caravans, works with two tribals who are loyal to him (Thing Two and Thing One) McReady keeps to himself, doesn't talk much and doesn't have much patience for stupidity. His job is to scout ahead and generally that keeps him away from the others.

Jim, kind of an orphan. Jim his technically proficient and capable in a fight. A bit of a jack-of-all trades, Jim is currently in this to get back to Grey Cliffs, perhaps to repay a debt to Caleb and Jeeva for giving him water to get to Tabis alive. Jim is very down to earth and helpful.

Virgil- a ghoul who was traveling south from Alaska. Virgil is a survivor from the big war and has been looking for warmer places. More technically proficient than Jim, he also has knowledge of electronics and the old world. Less likely to shoot and more willing to speak, Virgil also gambles and has joined this group mostly because its a job and it pays.

Nat- Just joined the group. A prostitute who just escaped the League by the help of Talon. She is trying to make her way in this world by wits and her skills.

Remember this is not dungeons and dragons nor is it all action and violence. Lone Wanderers is more like a cooperative novel for people who like to write. So please post something for your characters and give them a bit more life.

Okay, I'm coming back home on Monday, guys. But there's just a nit-picking issue I'd like to address.

I've read your posts and I've been noticing that there is some gravitation to the original Fallout story. Please note that up until now, the story has been purely original. We've "borrowed" the deathclaws, power armor, and the ghouls but that's about it. Everything else I consider the sweating and toiling of original creativity. I'm not saying that falling back to Fallout is bad, necessarily, but it's not like the Vault Dweller has anything to do with what our group is doing right now.

I understand that to partly make sense, smar's character had to have some relation to the whole Master's super mutant plan. That's all fine and dandy. And then the character of Blade had to be explained, since he's a former Marine (and the United States army has probably not survived so its gotta be the BOS). But we're not going to suddenly encounter the Vault Dweller or Sulik or Cassidy or whoever, right?

By the way, Welsh, I like how you handled the sudden appearance of the "armory-out-of-nowhere. "SET PROPS FROM WALKER: TEXAS RANGER." I swear, I honestly laughed out loud at that.

Edited :)

You should be able to continue with what you had planned.

I'll await Gruugs next post to see whta he had planned.

Thanks Gunslinger, and I don't even particularly like that show! I actually had to ponder how to handle that one.

I agree, we have gone a bit back to the original Fallouts on this. Gruug is kind of a "make a fit" but I think we are stretching a bit with Blade's marine character. Even the "Cryo-sleep in a military base to be attacked by mutants" explanation is a big big stretch.

Ok, since Smar and Roguehex seem to have an idea where to take this Canyon scene, I am going to defer to them to take the plot along. Feel free to play Grimm.

Sure, but I suggest that you read the summaries at least so you get a feel for the story line.

I also suggest that you post a character on the character thread.

Characters have been coming and going of late, so please try to stick with it. If you have any questions feel free to post.
