OOC Chapter 3 Lone Wanderers

I know it may seem a hassle, but please read all the chapters of Lone Wanderers. To get to chapter one, look in the archived boards.

And please try to stay on if you join. Please?

Ok, folks, remember-

This is a different kind of roll play. It's not like Dungeons and Dragons where you just get to act in response. Rather its like a cooperative novel. Make your character come alive- give him both strengths and weaknesses.

Be careful to keep up with back plot to know what's been going on in this chapter especially.

Hmm, how would I go about joining in on this stuff(If I'm allowed to ;) )
I mean, I would have to read all of the chapters(obviously), but after I've done that, how would I go about adding my character to the story(again, If I'm allowed to ;) )

I'd say the only preresiquite (ugh, horribly spelling) is to actually read the older chapters only to have an idea of what's going on. It's really a good idea to at least know what you're contributing to. Other than that, try keeping your characters active. A few people have been on vacation or extended leave but they'll come back. There's a rule, the ominous "Five Day Rule", where if you don't post within that amount of days, someone can take the initiative to scrap him. We've already had two people leave so far (Fang and Atreidis) but we've let their characters live so far (but you can expect one to die in the upcoming chapter:::Spoiler!:::).

Well then, I'll read the chapters(all of it.), and I'll draw up a character after that, then you can tell me whether I'm allowed to enter or not....and how.

Well Sander, if you read all the chapters you might just get lost in it. There are lots and lots of posts back there. I would suggest going over the chapter summaries and probably reading the back story on the current chapter. That should get you in.

Currently the main characters are split between Caleb and Jeeva on one quest (with Caleb recently suffering a bit of an infection) and the rest of the characters on the road to the same place by caravan. I think Caleb and Jeeva are probably going to be on their own, but your character could show up as one of the many caravan guards.

I think there is a post back there with the main characters if you run through the OCC.

Oh and Rogue and Jacin- I like the little signature- the lightsaber furrballs and the drinking smiling faces. Lovely.

I've noticed, I've just spent fifteen to twenty minutes just reading the first page of the Chapter 3(decided that it might be best to just read that first). Sjeesj, I think that there are a lot of books that are shorter than this entire story is NOW. Well, I have read the summaries, so I'll read the entire chapter 3(I'm determined to do it, it would give me a good idea of what I could and could not do with characters, and what the conventions about posting are...).
I hope to be able to join in soon.

Well the conventions on posting are usually-

(1) this isn't your usual Fallout 1 or 2. Lots of regular stuff kind of drops out (vault dwellers, BOS, etc).
(2) story tends to be more character driven than actor driven.
(3) weaknesses and strengths.
(4) Interesting long posts are better than boring short ones.
(5) Realism helps.
(6) Be courteous to your peers.
(7) Post regularly or at least tell us if you are taking a vacation.

Oh and something is going to happen in about three game days that will change the make-up of the caravan.

Just a reminder- this is the place for OCC's. I am going to delete more of the Sander- Syphon conversation on the ICC post later. I agree with Gunslinger, its been fun to read.

Also they were good posts. One bit of advice, let the other characters get a piece of the action. Sometimes it means slowing things down a bit, but it's a cooperative effort.

Not sure what you folks want to do with this. I would keep it simple-

Sander's character has been following the caravan and had to jump off when they came down the canyon (too much unloading would reveal that he's been hiding in the carts). Then he came down after the caravan did, went around the camp and was waiting on the other side to join. He went into the ghost town to find some food, but unfortunately a pack of giant rats had the same idea. Having little but a knife and being small in size, he jumped into a metal box and closed it, before the rats could get him. Since then, his situation has been akind to being stock in a giant ball being knocked around by polar bears.

Does he know anything about the murders?

Taking my leave....

Hullo there, just thought i'd warn that tomorrow i take my leave for a couple of days to visit some freinds. Should be back by fairly fast.

Just thought i'd say somthing so you guys know were i've ran of too.

So long, Rogue Hex, have a grand time.

Hey, Syphon, about your latest post. That creature isn't really a supermutant, is it? Because a supermutant would seem incredibly out of place in this scenario. We're not fighting the Master so I highly doubt there would be signs of them around.

And the only other supermutant around these parts is, well, Gruug. And you just didn't kill Gruug, did you?

Happy travels Rogue! We'll miss you.

Incidently, I will be on the road as well next week, for about a weeks stay. Also, chances are I will not be posting as much as usual for a little while.

Super Mutants? First we let in Gruug and then it all goes to pot! Yes, I agree with Gunslinger, with the exception of Gruug, who is a very exceptional case, the super mutants are really part of this. The Masters Army is far to the West of where this story takes place and its unlikely the Super mutants are even recognized. This has been part of the problem of bringing Gruug in.

So McReady probably wouldn't know a super mutant if it came out of the toilet and bit him on the ass. The only characters that might are Blade and Buffy, and that's only because they have migrated far to the East before coming into this story.

But- that said, the creature could be something quite similar if different.

Syphon please give it an edit but you need not give up on this post totally. But you will have to come up with a replacement bad guy. Some kind of giant humanoid would work.

Yes, a ghoul might work. Generally speaking the ghouls have been pretty cool so far in this story.

But lets play with that- say a giant cannibalistic ghoul with medium intelligence- perhaps suffering from giantism, maybe give it two heads and traveling in a small pack. I don't know, something new is usually good. Perhaps it has a habit of arguing with itself, thus its has difficulty surprising. Have fun with it.

To be honest, I like new critters and I think some really nasty critter here could be a lot of fun.

I'll prolly do that. When Syphon and McReady go to bag it, it'll be some weird mutated Ghoul. And then some will happen...I'm not givin' away spoilers.
