Why, thank you! Actually, I had a lot of bad luck, but so did you. McCain and Lewis both could have survived if they had played their cards right, as I said earlier. I'll explain a couple of things they could have done differently after the chapter is over; there are still a few things I don't want to give away yet.

On the bright side, Jim and Alice survived...for now.

I can't promise I'll try, but I'll try to try.

Jim Kerr and Alice will probably survive the rest of Chapter 2, since they got through their final challenge. Chapter 3 is a whole new ball game, however.

How many more updates are there in this chapter? I figure that the civiians at the motel have won the battle and I do not see anything going on where Jim or Alice are...so how many more updates?

I'm not sure exactly, but approximately 5 more. It could be more than that depending on how things play out. The motel isn't quite done yet, and the zombies in the diner are still undead and kicking. There may also be more things to find during Jim's exploration of the laboratory level.

I realize some of you might not be able to post during the holidays, though that's exactly when I'll have more time to post. If you won't be able to post, please let me know during which days you expect you won't be able to by posting here. Also, tell me whether you want me to take over your characters or wait for you to return. If I wait, I can still use that time to prepare for Chapter 3 and then finish this up in January.

I can always post. I think I am going down to southern Illinois right after Christmas and New Years but.....they have a computer down there that I can always use or I can take mine with me.

PS. If you want to use one of my characters I give you Lewis or McCain

Also, what new characters are going to be introduced for the next chapter so I can think of one or two that I might want to use to replace Lewis and McCain?

Thanks, Steve. I will be using Lewis and McCain!

The only new characters that I'm certain will be introduced at the start of Chapter 3 are the ones at the airfield. Whether and when other characters are introduced depends on how the finale of Chapter 2 plays out. You may also choose replacement characters from the survivors of the first two chapters.

The new playable airfield characters are:
Corporal Harry Flynn - Air National Guard pilot
Private Simone Dawkins - National Guard sniper
Private Julio Alvarez - National Guard medic
Sergeant Diane Ford - Nebraska State Police
Trooper Rick Brenner - Nebraska State Police pilot (reserved by Laraqua)
Kathryn McCoy - civilian air traffic controller
Dr. Bernard Smith - civilian doctor
Lucy Armstrong - civilian mechanic

Each player who has two or fewer characters may reserve one and only one of these new characters for the time being, in order to ensure that there are enough for our new players to choose from. You might want to wait until the character sheets are posted over on Play@Yog-Sothoth in January, as well as to see which other new characters will be introduced. If you're going to take existing characters too that will bring your total to three or more, don't take a new character from the airfield yet. Once our current players are up to three characters each and each new player has chosen theirs, any remaining characters may be selected.

I will wait until January most likly to choose people unless it seems that people are being taken. I prefer new ones although I may take others that have already been introduced as long as only the Keepers have played them.

That's a good idea, Steve.

Fearlessfred, I remembered that you rolled a 62 in your attempt to clear Joe Barring's jammed shotgun. His Shotgun skill is no longer 61, but it increased to 65 due to a skill XP check after Chapter 1. Thus, this roll is a success. You should roll 1d6 to determine how many rounds it will take to finish unjamming it, or I'll roll for you if I update before you do so (I'm planning to update later today, I just want to give Steve another chance to post in the IC thread). So far Joe has had two rounds to work on it, including the current one. If he's lucky enough to roll a 1, I can have him use the current round to reload his shotgun.

Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure if you were going to post or not this round. The next update is coming up and should be done early this afternoon.

So your going to slow Alice's metobolism down which means that she will become a keeper character also? Cause if all she can do is lie there and sleep then she is pretty useless. If that is what is going to occur then I may give her back to you and choose two characters instead
Let me know please.

Well, that's something for the characters to discuss. Jim can give his opinion on the matter, and they may want to wake Alice and ask her what she wants. Slowing her metabolism down will buy her more time and slow (but not stop) the growth of the creature within her, but she won't be able to do anything during that time. She won't become a Keeper character, she'd just be asleep for a while (and she's napping anyway at the moment). She's still your character and she could be very useful later on.

If you and SuAside both post, I may be able to update again tonight. I should also have time to update on Monday and/or Tuesday.

Well I am still thinking about the Alice situation. However, if it is decided that Alice will go to sleep and sleep for a little bit thus negating character use for a while I would like to have the option to reserve another character now please and then if we had a chance to get a 4th character I may want one also. Does that sound ok?

If you want to reserve one of the airfield characters you may, though you might want to wait to see the full character sheets and which other new characters show up. I'd also like to give our new players a wider selection and first crack at the new characters, since there's a limited number of them. You may ultimately have a total of four characters including Alice. It's really up to you how long you want her to sleep. If you want to pick up an existing character, either now or at the start of Chapter 3, that's not a problem. Many of the existing characters are in danger, though, so it may be best to wait and see who survives. Chapter 2 is nearly over.

Fearlessfred, I've got good news and bad news for your characters. First the good news:

Ramirez scored two critical impales on Zombie Malone's left leg. He only rolled damage for one of them, so roll another 2d10 damage for the second. You may cripple her leg, but it's unlikely to do enough damage to finish her off.

Joe Barring rolled a 96 on his first shot. While this is a critical failure, it is not a malfunction (the Ruger P-85 has a malfunction number of 98).

Which brings me to the bad news:
96 is still a critical failure. Roll Luck for Joe, and I'll tell you what happens.

Last post for me tonight. You need to roll 1d10 to see how many Sanity points Joe loses, but any roll of more than 8 counts as 8. If he loses 5 or more, roll Idea. If he succeeds at that roll, he goes temporarily insane.

If Black is going to shoot at the truck, he's going to need to say what part he's targeting. Keep in mind that the Barrett is highly destructive. You could also order Sheen to take the shot with his M-24. If you shoot the driver (-5% to skill) that will almost certainly stop the truck, but you'd also likely kill him in the process.

Any of the following options will damage the truck, causing it to require repairs before it can be driven again. You could shoot at the coupling connecting the trailer to the cab in the hopes of separating them at a -20% skill penalty. This will save the refrigerated trailer full of food if it works, though you wouldn't be able to take it anywhere and the cab would still keep moving. Shooting the engine block (-5% to skill) might stop the truck, but it might set it on fire too. Shooting the tires (-5% to skill) may cause the truck to stall, but it could also fall over.

Roll Luck if you shoot and miss.
