I visit 2+2 (mostly lurking) and some Dutch poker forums no one's ever heard of.

Anyone Know of any good business forums? I have this paper due on Dell computers in France and would appreciate some external opinions. If you guys feel knowledgeable I guess i could post it in GD or maybe in hardware?

NMA has been my internet "home" pretty much since I returned in 2004. The one before that was a Swedish mailing list for writing that had started to dwindle some time before. Except for NMA I periodically visit and very sporadically post at three webcomics forums, one RPG forum, and one general geek forum where I know some people from RL. I also follow and participate in three mailing lists with varying degrees of activity.

However, the reason to bump this thread is to bring up the slightly related phenomenon of spotting people you know from one place on the internet on another with no obvious connection between the two. For instance, it doesn't count if you see BN posting on the Codex or commenting on Fallout news on Kotaku, or if you follow a link that someone left (implying a connection in the first place), but it counts if you see welsh posting on a tentacle porn site using the Slayer avatar so you know it's him. I'm not talking about cyberstalking; you can't have any indication beforehand that you'd find them there. Examples of my own:

* I occasionally see the characteristic nick of a sometime NMA poster in the comments box of my favourite webcomic.

* I once stumbled upon a forum thread where an NMA poster with a very recognizable real name asked for technical help for the game I was Googling for.

* I once found that an NMA poster (matching nick and country) had been given a "poster of the month" treatment on another forum.

Any other cases of random poster spottings?

I hope that GoW2 smashes into Fallout 3 causing the fans of both to engage in mortal combat and therefore leaving themselves vulnerable to my master plan...

Oh crap, I have to devise a master plan.

I post often in the White Wolf forums, sometimes in Shadownessence, both under different names, and that's about it.

Internet communication leaves much to be desired.

Off topic, but I thought Oblivion(2.49 mil) did a lot better than Gears of War(5.24 mil):

I have no idea why you'd think that. Oblivion's last officially announced number was 3 million (ref), GoW sold that much in its first 10 weeks (ref)

Well, 3 million is to retailers while the 2.49 is projected for sales to customers. So the numbers are fairly close, maybe a little error.

Regardless, I don't see how you'd think the two would be close. GoW is a blockbuster action title that was considered the biggest title of the holiday season it came out. Meanwhile, Oblivion is still in the RPG niche which never really blows up in numbers.

OT: I've never bumped into anyone from here Per, though I've had that experience on other forums. The problem is, Fallout's a pretty narrow niche and so, I don't really go to other sites that might attract the same audience. I'm curious who you found though:).

I've run into someone who comes up here once in a while *shudder*.

Not the type of poster you'd want to meet in a metaphorical dark alleyway. (IE- any non-NMA forum )

Websites you frequent

What websites do you visit on a regular basis beside this one?

I personally visit Myspace to keep up with friends and Deviantart. I check out Jinx every once and awhile looking for funny shirts. I also do my classes online with Westwood. I check out videos on Youtube occasionally, but I mainly use the internet for research purposes.

I'm looking for some good fan communities like this one. Any good forums out there with a reasonably smart community?

I'm just curious what some of the members here are interested in. Occasionally I head over to PAmedia, but I mostly stick around here. I find myself waiting for people to respond or post interesting topics because I am so bored of life.

A gun nut huh? I would love to get into that whole scene, but I already have too many hobbies.

Used to visit Abandonia and was quite a prominent member, but now I won't even dignify them with a link. Not to tell some long story, but the old administration fell apart, morons replaced them, site went to hell, community died, unfriendly moderators, all that good stuff. As a long time member and contributer of the site, I left disgraced. That place really used to be so good.

Otherwise I visit SA (SomethingAwful). Yes, groan, groan, but it's just for the Let's Play section where I peruse the interactive fiction threads, I couldn't be bothered with the general population there, they seem just a bit too average to be entertaining.
I also maintain a YouTube account that used to have fairly frequent updates of Ultima videos, however, I would get bored recording the games and just play them through without adding anymore content, so eventually I stopped doing that. I still regularly get more subscribers though, I have no idea why.

I also browse GoG and post on their forums occasionally, under the same pseudonym, I've only bought Lionheart so far, although it's sort of pointless, I actually own the game, I suppose I just wanted to see the manual.

When I am not out and about for work, I split my time between a variety of websites. I've been on AR15.com for quite a few years, as well as Woodnet.net, a site devoted to woodworking. I also spend a little bit of time at Photography-on-the.net, which is dedicated to Canon cameras. I've been out and about for ten months or so, so these last few weeks have been the first opportunity to indulge in my interests for a while. I bought Fallout 3, but it sits unopened beside my computer after what I read about it here.
