Yet another review to prove that Fallout 3 is a great game. Sure, I will still have to play the game to make my final verdict, but I am pretty much positive at this point that I will greatly enjoy the experience.

Yet another review to prove that Bethesda knows how to manipulate the gaming press. Sure, I will still have to play the game to make my final verdict, but I am pretty much positive at this point that Fallout 3 is a shameless rape of one of my all-time favorite games.

hey, that's your opinion, and this is mine. I'm perfectly okay with that. It also doesn't help matters that I haven't played 1 or 2, but I have played Oblivion, and loved it. So, Fallout 3 is my type of game.

I'm not exactly sure there is any manipulation going on.

To do so, on this large of a scale....would take way more money than Bethesda has.

The conclusion I have reached is that the people at Bethesda, and the people in the gaming press are on the same frequency when it comes to games. A frequency, I don't really pick up.

I think that's a more logical conclusion to reach than "Bethesda has tricked everyone".

Basically. I'd go with Hanlon's razor on this one.

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity

Also. Another thing to add would be the role of the fans in this type of thing. I think the fans reaction to any negative word about any game, plays a role. I'm not sure of how much of one. But the devotion that people have to video games, prior to their release, is unlike a lot of other things I have seen. Except maybe devotion to a sports team. So I think a lot of fans love seeing that 9/10 - 10/10 type scale. Until of course, they move onto the new flavor of the month.

...If you want security in these stupid-ass pre-release review (a nonsensical concept anyway), then send out review copies with unique identifiable codes so you can bust the leak. This measure doesn't work, but it's preferable for game companies because it allows them to put pressure on the reviewer. Again, GTA IV also did this and caught a lot of flak for it, it's a bullshit move.
The bullshit move was pirating the game and puting it on torrent which is a slap in the face to all the people that worked on making this game a reality.

I have no problem with game companies doing what it takes to protect their interests. Nobody is forcing me to pre-order the game. I can easily wait until a month after release when a number of post-release reviews have been done.

Incorrect. I'm not an expert on the game industry but I do work in the game media and have talked to quite a few people on this subject. Bethesda certainly does not have the pull of an EA, but that doesn't mean their PR tricks don't influence reviews. See my earlier post.

Indeed, and I'm not contesting that.

If you mean in fighting piracy I agree, companies have a full right to do what they want. That doesn't mean I can't criticize them for pulling things that simply do not work, such as intrusive DLC or these stupid pre-review in-house plays.

If you mean in manipulating the media then sure, they can do that, but I sure as hell don't have to approve of it.

maybe the video game companies need to pull all of their money to make a special hotel type building in which reviewers could come and stay(which prevents piracy)but the game company wouldn't beallowed to stand over ther shoulders the entire time.

[they explain choice and consequence by going through the megaton quest, and how you, as a female, can talk Bourke out of his fantasies with a high speech-skill and the “black-widow”-perk]

You can talk Burke out of wanting to nuke Megaton, but it takes a high-speech skill and feminine wiles?

That's not bad at all.

It's a bit exclusive (woman + certain perk), but yeah, it's cool that it's there.

The more options, the better. I love RPGs where you can suddenly discover new paths with certain character makeups.

That's one of the coolest things about FO3, and one of the biggest reasons I am buying it.

Eh? This is pretty much the only clear-cut examples we've seen on this in the game.

I think you're going a bit overboard with the fanboy act here. Being a fanboy doesn't exempt you from having to make sense

After read that all prewievs only one is clear that game is condemned to full succes - Bethezda marketing doing greate job.
But if that game is Fallout 3 ?
Im not sure of it, just not sure at all, when i saw that movies i just say "what a hell is this is this a really Fallout 3?" - now i know it isnt - and never be - this is just another copy of oblivion nothing more nothing less - and players are only a milk cows B. only want to get our money rest is a silence
Good Bye Fallout R.I.P

That game will take all highest marks at all
10/10
100%/100%
Bethezda will take care of this

It's not really "one of the coolest thing." It'll probably be the only example of this type of actual "RPG"ness in the game.

I'm not being a fanboy! If you read my other posts you would see that I admit FO3 has faults, and a true fanboy would never do that :)

I admit to the faults in MGS, but I'm still a huge MGS fanboy.

Pointing out faults doesn't mean you aren't a fanboy.

In this case however, it's odd, as FO3 isn't out yet, and you seem to love the game an unhealthy amount.

It's because I love Oblivion so much! I don't usually say this, but I'm actually pretty positive that I WILL love it.

You probably will, and I hope you do. :)

7 steps to save Megaton as a female.

1. Put on make-up.
2. Find condom.
3. Seduce Burke.
4. Buy room.
5. LOL sex.
6. Give him pep speech while giving a handjob.
7. Megaton is safe.

That's too deep for a Bethesda written quest.

How so? He loves Oblivion, so he's probably going to love Fallout 3. Seems like solid logic to me.

He has been spamming his happy glee a bit much, but no harm no foul. If it bugs you, just ignore.
