No, there are tutorials that allow the game to be played in split-screen / on two monitors on the same pc. But I think it requires at least one x-box-like controller. Not sure about the controller, though.
 
Multiple people can be on a single steam account at the same time, it's just that only one may be "online" at a time, the rest need to be in offline mode.

You almost certainly will be able to use a single steam account and play through a VPN.
 
Soooo. how does it work? I have never used steam for cooperative gameplay. I guess I need to add someone as a friend?

I just beat the single player campaign. I gotta admit that the turret opera at the end put a smile on my face, as well as being reunited with my old friend. :D

After beating the game I've decided that Portal 2 is even better than Portal (If that's even possible).
 
I bought the Portal Bundle, so I played them both oen after the other, it was more like a 15 hours game, a little less, thath has a graphci overhaul in the second act.

Moon portal? that was awesome as hell. The end song of the second game was better than the first one, and the smoked COmpanion CUbe, LOL.

Thsi is what a sequel should be.
