Preview of Fallout 4

"Fallout 4 is also fully destructible. This gives players a whole new way to approach combat situations, as well as giving you more room to just blow stuff up for the sheer fun of it. Because, essentially, that’s what Fallout has always been about."

This kills the man.

Did he say that? Shit... has he even played the first two? Wait question answered. Hell no!

"Full details on the leveling system weren’t mentioned in the initial reveal, but there were a few things we picked up on. Enemies now have levels, meaning if you try and approach a Deathclaw at too low a level, not only will you get your ass handed to you; you’ll see it done in spectacular fashion thanks to the new death animations."

And these are the same people that said F:NV "railroaded" you with the rubberbanding.

EDIT: And stay away from the comments, they, as always, give cancer.

Wow base building, It's not like they just totally looked at Nexus mod's for some popular mods and go "Yup, Were listening. We came up with this cool idea all on our selves" That is the way it's being conveyed it seems. Sometimes not even by Bethesda themselves, But the press and rapid insipid fanboy sycophants that need a leash on them.

I'm sure Bethesda's this is sooo ambitious. Making a game being hacks by just taking the mods from New Vegas and Sky-rim and just saying "Fuck it, throw it in." Might as well add some good writing since they're are good quest mods in there. Anyways, Just another opportunity to shit post all over bethesda again.

TL;DR AYYYYYYYYYYYYY LMAO.

"More RPG elements than in previous Fallout games. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."

Jesus fucking Christ, why is it that people find it so hard to grasp what the hell RPG is supposed to mean? It's right there in the title you dumb motherfuckers, they are Role-Playing Games, it's about creating and taking the role of your char and acting and making choices that you would make in his place. Does it really take more than two neurons to understand this? :seriouslyno:

I can't believe those idiots actually get paid to write this shit.

But it's not about making choices you would make in his place, it's about making choices that suit his personality. If you did everything in RPG games as you would in your character's place, you wouldn't have much differences from playthrough to playthrough (other than maybe different skill sets).

It's what i meant. In his/her place with his/her perspective.

I didn't want to react first as it is just more bile from me but this was so facepalming-ly bad that I would honestly question the writer if he seeks to become the winner in a "Stupidest gamer of 2015" competition, because he sure is making a good case for his entry.

As some here have already stated before, role playing is about making decisions, from how your character's stats are (his or her strengths and weaknesses), what skills to specialize in or do a more broad approach, what the character's personality is like, what he or she would do in a given situation, how one deals with situations that do not go according to plan (start over from an earlier save or go with these results), deciding which character, factions, or organization to support when it goes from local to world changing events.

Customized dress up or even face design is just some damn fluff on top of it. We could make up a character who looks like a complete mongloid but is still a genius up to par with Einstein and Hawkings, a great orator who can even bring the most jaded and broken masses to rebel or convince the most black hearted villain to repent, and I don't know; be such a great lover that makes even Don Juan look like a celibate choir boy.

And still the fucking customized dress up has the most damn focus.
Even the modification of the weapons goes to an idiotic level, what is needed is just a good assortment of various type of weapons suitable for various types of combat that can be somewhat specialized. We don't need tons that just have a percentage more advantage in this or that situation.

As I once said before; what is this? Barbie's fucking post nuclear fashion adventure?

Even the town building is fucking useless if it doesn't make any impact on the larger game or the end game, telling us what will happen to these settlements and perhaps some important individuals living in them.

I feel like that scene from Happy Gilmore, that reading this article actually reduced my intelligence.

And they pay this guy and consider it good writing. By the way, Dutch Ghost your anology is totally correct. I felt DUMBER after reading his article.

1) It looks pretty
2) Gimmicks
3) "customization"
4) Story writing got left in the drive way
5) Didn't we learn all this at E3?

My reaction as someone who enjoyed Oblivion and Fallout 3. Thanks Bethesda for going towards gimmicks instead of good story and world. Can we bring the teams that made Morrowind and Oblivion back? At least Oblivion had better writing and story and world despite its technical instabilities.

Actually to be fair, we can not judge the story in Fallout 4 as we have no clue what it is...I think that the story should be epic and contain huge plot twists, like your character is really an android with his looks and memory copied from the guy in the beginning of the game, and the character from the beginning of the game is dead. Then again that's wishful thinking on my part..

I enjoyed Oblivion far more than the shallow crap Skyrim felt like.

Those aren't really plot twists, though. Plot twists are things you don't see coming. EVERYONE saw the android thing coming, so if they go ahead with that while patting themselves on the back and going 'yes, that'll fox 'em!' I'll be laughing and shaking my head in despair that Emil actually gets paid good money for this tripe.

I'm also expecting top tier voice work when he does come to the SHOCKING realisation that he is in fact an android. Yep. Top tier.

I have to admit, that voice acting was pretty pathetic.

I remember that... saddest piece of voice acting in the game.
