PS5 or XBOX series X?

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Since no one has posted this yet, I may as well oblige myself to ask this.

Which of the two you are going to buy first if you only have enough budget to buy only one of them atm? I can only pre-order one for the time being, please help me decide...:(

My advice, wait a few years.
The first year for any console is overrated, plus waiting would mean the price drops.

Yeah unless you're really itching to be playing the newest releases as they come out and pay that full price for them, just wait. I got my PS4 for 220 and it came with an Uncharted game which I used as a gift as it was an exclusive I didn't care about. Way better than the 400 buck price tag from like 3 years ago. But I can imagine if you don't have a PC you might not be able to wait.

Question is what games do you want to play? If there is going to be a difference in graphics, it's not going to be one that matters.

I don't see anything from either camp.

Since Microsoft is doing better than Sony recently, I should go with the Xbox Series X.
It has backwards compatibility, outstanding graphics for a console, 120 frames per second, and some of the best developers that can make some of the best games for Xbox and PC.
So far, the Playstation 5 still has some exclusives, but that's not going to beat the Xbox Series X.
Plus the digital variant of the Series X is the Series S, which is the smallest Xbox yet that cost $299, in comparison to the digital variant of the PS5 which costs $399.
So, what do you think about this?
(Whether is fact or opinion, I'm open for some praise and constructive criticism)

The Xbox's best asset however is also the thing that turns me away from it the most, why would I buy an Xbox when I can play all the games on PC?

I know it's a good option for those who can't afford a PC, but if you have a PC, just stick to that.

It's funny because the only console that offers me anything is the Switch.

Do you know what company won't allow to have some of their exclusives on PC? Sony, that's what.
So basically, they're lacking so far, and it's not just the PS5 exclusives.

I said that Xbox games being on PC was their best asset as it's very friendly to everyone.
I agree, Sony holding exclusives sucks, and I think they can see that as a lot of their games end up on PC anyway years down the line.

I'd probably end up with a PS5 some years down the line anyway.
I also see the digital versions not being as much of a success as Sony thinks, mostly because People like the option of Physical or Digital (and especially seeing as how Sony will dictate prices in the online store).

$70 for buying a PS5 game is atrocious, who thought this is a great idea?

Over here it's £70 which is really a ridiculous price.
I very rarely buy games when they come out anyway, the last being Animal Crossing and the one before that being Soul Calibur VI.

The fact they've gone up to such a high level has made me care less about gaming.

Well I wanted both but sadly only got PS5 preorder. Sony has better exclusive game but Xbox has better library of free games like netflix for games almost.

I have basically no reason to buy an Xbox. Halo Infinite is coming to PC and even if it wasn't it wouldn't be enough to sway me. I've liked a lot of the Playstation exclusives this past generation, and I recall the PS4 was very very dry early on when it came to exclusives. But with the PS5 the Demon's Souls remake is actually a really strong sell. Fingers crossed we'll get something on the level of Bloodborne or Death Stranding in the years to come.

Since how long did you wait until the price dropped that low?

That and often most of the launch titles tend to be shit.

I also prefer the PC over the Xbox series in general.
Playstation occasionally had interesting exclusives but after my disappointment with the Playstation 3 and because my budget is limited I am not going for a new Sony machine again. Not even sure if I would do so if I had more money to spend as I am kind of burned out on the majority of gaming
At some point in these last twenty gears gaming has mostly lost me. Only rarely do I see a game that really makes me want to play it.

Switch. Well this one depends on some very specific games and then I will probably will wait for the Switch 2 and until that one is on discount.
Nintendo has always been doing in general well with their own titles and those from studios under them but third party support has often been very mixed. I would much rather play games developed by third party studios that I can only play on a Nintendo console than a game that will make it to other platforms and often plays better on these.

That is another problem with gaming, I can't fucking afford it! Even in good times I could perhaps pick up a title once in a while so I have to be careful what I get.
Having multiple platforms in home makes it more difficult to decide on what to focus.

And the stupid thing is that once gaming goes completely digital these prices will remain this high. You don't get to own games physical, it will be considered a service, and should you do anything that upsets someone on whatever digital network you use they could limit or block your access.

I think these high costs will help kill the industry. There are also other factors of course that will play a role.

I'm sorry but I can't wait with PS5, I mean I liked all the exclusives they currently have right now. But I will follow all you guys advice for Xbox series X, will going to buy it after few years ( I still have my Xbox one S with me anyway) :wiggle:

The development costs of a lot of games has gone up so I’m not surprised the price goes up every generation. Shit in 1994 a new Sega Genesis game was 60 dollars USD at ToysRUs
