My advice, wait a few years.
The first year for any console is overrated, plus waiting would mean the price drops.
That and often most of the launch titles tend to be shit.
I also prefer the PC over the Xbox series in general.
Playstation occasionally had interesting exclusives but after my disappointment with the Playstation 3 and because my budget is limited I am not going for a new Sony machine again. Not even sure if I would do so if I had more money to spend as I am kind of burned out on the majority of gaming
At some point in these last twenty gears gaming has mostly lost me. Only rarely do I see a game that really makes me want to play it.
Switch. Well this one depends on some very specific games and then I will probably will wait for the Switch 2 and until that one is on discount.
Nintendo has always been doing in general well with their own titles and those from studios under them but third party support has often been very mixed. I would much rather play games developed by third party studios that I can only play on a Nintendo console than a game that will make it to other platforms and often plays better on these.
Over here it's £70 which is really a ridiculous price.
I very rarely buy games when they come out anyway, the last being Animal Crossing and the one before that being Soul Calibur VI.
The fact they've gone up to such a high level has made me care less about gaming.
That is another problem with gaming, I can't fucking afford it! Even in good times I could perhaps pick up a title once in a while so I have to be careful what I get.
Having multiple platforms in home makes it more difficult to decide on what to focus.
$70 for buying a PS5 game is atrocious, who thought this is a great idea?
What do you think about the price?
And the stupid thing is that once gaming goes completely digital these prices will remain this high. You don't get to own games physical, it will be considered a service, and should you do anything that upsets someone on whatever digital network you use they could limit or block your access.
I think these high costs will help kill the industry. There are also other factors of course that will play a role.
