PSM3 Fallout 3 review, not impressed with PS3 version

I want to know what is wrong with the PS3 version and why the 360 is always "top dog" when their fanbase is spoiled 13 year olds.

Oh yeah, that's not generalizing at all.

There are just as many grown douches as there are spoiled 13 year olds.

And then the occasional normal person. Rarely. Who is then chased off with digital torches and pitchforks.

I'll tell you what though, if that happens, but the actual game prices came down like they do on the PC, then I'd be more willing to throw some more money into the console. You know, cause a couple months after release you can grab something like Fallout 3 for $20. But, they can't get too carried away cause people already had a fit when the PS3 launched for it's god awful price. (though somewhat understandable) I think it really hurt them. As much as people WANT to buy one, it's just like gas: there's comes a point where it's so high people just CAN'T afford it.

If there WAS only one console though, (not counting Nintendo's since it's so different) then the system shouldn't have to cost more and more cause you would already be combining the sales of XBox and PS3 together. That should help a lot on it's own if what you say about them losing money is true.

Ummm. Guess I wasn't clear. Here's a link explaining the meltdown:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_crash_of_1983

To sum it up. The companies slashed prices on the consoles, like they are doing now, in the hope they would have all of the market share. The games were supporting the companies (again like now), but too many crappy games were released and the public lost faith in the market. So they stopped buying games and the companies lost millions & went the way of the dodo. It took Nintendo & Sega to recreate the console market.

I'm still hoping the PS3 goes down in flames over the next few years...
Why, pray tell? :|

My only guess is anger over exclusives. :P

I'm guessing the same could be said about the Xbox 360 over its exclusives, but nobody cares about Halo.

Oh and I've had the chance to play GTA4 on the 360 and it plays much better on the PS3. That could be because I'm not really use to the 360 controller though. It just seemed like the visuals weren't as good, and I don't mean aesthetically speaking.

Hehe, some guy that I didn't know tried to push Halo on me once because it's "the best game ever" at EB. He was about 28... His most memorable moments were "cussing out 13 year olds as you tea bag them".

Cursing on online multiplayer is frowned upon if your balls haven't dropped. Damn rap is making retards out of kids, so they ignore the pissed-off adults and call them spicks. Damn you 50 Cent, Soulja Boy, R. Kelly, etc. for making them so.

Whatever. I have both ps3 and a high end pc and i was never considering getting FO3 for ps3 anyway.

Well, I don't know if I misunderstood you, but I got wrapped up in my point. Anyway... In my opinion, I doubt it would happen in the same way today as it did then, only because today, once again, it's like working on a blockbuster movie. There's so much time and money put into these things, like Fallout 3 or whatever, that one total failure could mean by by to the game company itself, (I mean, 4 years is like 2 Pixar movies) and there are a lot of big guys that actually care about their stuff, like Guerilla, Rockstar, etc. I don't think we will see mass influxes of trash games like we have on previous consoles because of that. I suppose a whole series of catastrophic failures or spew of silly out of date games could crash the market, but anyway. Yeah, I think the gaming market will become the new Hollywood, but who knows. I'd be curious if it did fail, who would pick up the ball.

I've never played Halo online, thankfully. I did watch my nephew play Halo 3 online a bit. It looked kinda like... well any other first person shooter when you play it online. Well that and it didn't look much different from the original Halo in terms of the environment and graphics.

Oh and the 28 year old person you mentioned sounds like a gay pedo.

Edit: Quoted the wrong person.. you people post too fast.

Yes, steam is plagued by this. I imagine most online games are as well but steam is the worst in my experience. At least you can disable voice in steam.
The number annoying little fucks grows exponentially with a game's popularity. It's why I stopped playing a lot of games online (Gunbound always jumps to mind) and why I never played WarCraft III melee more than once (horay for hackers, buddy had the same thing happen in three or four games, though he played one or two that weren't).

We'll probably be seeing the eighth generation of consoles in the next few years anyway.
Maybe though there are rumors that this console generation will list longer than most. I'd be somewhat surprised if Nintendo put out a new console any time soon given the popularity of the Wii and the fact that developers still haven't gotten things locked down with the motion sensing. Then again, they might release a system with better motion sensing.

The PS3 can process data faster than the 360, but its tricky as the PPU of the CELL is at its heart a dual core PowerPC running at the same speed as the 360 (compared to the six core PowerPC CPU on the 360), its the 6 available SPUs which gives the CELL its eye watering speed.
You've got that backwards and I'm pretty sure that the PS3 has 8 cores, not 6.

The XBox has always seemed like a sports and action oriented system (it's users being mostly kids, frat boys, sports freaks, and similarly impatient folk) and other than a handful of games for the 360 plus some of the XBox arcades stuff, it's the same. It also doesn't help that I like Japanese console games and those, for the most part, are missing from the XBox.

Honestly there are too many platforms with good games spread across them and systems like the PSP really piss me off with that. I think that Nintendo is the only console developer that had things right, consoles are now competing (games and price) with PCs and PCs are better because, at the very least, they're multipurpose.

Counter-Strike vid

Dude, it's Counter-Strike. There's only one moron-magnet bigger than the X360 and it's Counter-Strike.

But it is nice that the moron gen is equal opportunity and basically present everywhere, yeah

(I do like the holla holla get dolla, I must admit)

I wouldn't be surprised. It's not nearly settled yet, and has some years to go before being seriously profitable enough and then declining.

Besides; recession.

Have you played the Xbox? I don't know about your fucked up experience with it, but I come across a retard in an XBL game only once in a blue moon. And morons are on every game. Crysis (How do I maxxed settings?), LittleBigPlanet (dongs away!), Starcraft (Noobs end game before loss so they don't mess up their record), Fallout 2 (How do I refueled car?) and so on.

exclusives for consoles are getting to be less worthwhile with microsoft ditching their inhouse developements and the devs of ratchet and clank stepping over the line into sharing territory.

Kind of agree with you. Halo 3 multiplayer didn't seem disproportionately stupider than any other multiplayer I've done, but then again I only played a little bit. While I don't mind controllers at all for singleplayer gaming, it irritates the hell out of me when I'm in multiplayer and frantically wiggling my sticks to turn around.

Funny thing is that the main reason I bought the original Xbox back in the day was for Morrowind, Knights of the Old Republic, and a few other games like that. They weren't coming to the PS2, and my computer at the time couldn't even handle the menus of the games of the time.

The majority of users go more for the action and sports stuff, but more often than not the Xbox was the sole haven aside from PCs to get western-style RPGs. Sony and Nintendo were content to provide JRPGs (some of which I love, but that's not the topic).

In this generation Sony has been more willing to have them as well, but I now have a capable computer, and the 360 catches everything else just fine.

Sorry if this has been covered, but has anyone even seen the PC interface for the game? All the reviews are done on 360, and I don't recall anyone mentioning the PC version, or its UI.

The PC Gamer SE and Click! reviews were of the PC version. And the interface is the same as on the 360, except that you use a mouse.

Is the font smaller, at least? And is it possible to see more stuff on pipboy in PC version?

Nope. The new interface screenshots in the PC magazines looked exactly the same as in the console ones, aside from the mouse cursor.
