rain?

Timeslip doesn't seem interested (I've PM'd him several times and cant find another way to contact him).
I've already mentioned that I'm the middle of exams and am to busy to be playing around. :|

It's easy enough to do. I'll write something when I have time, if no-one else gets there first.

@ Lexx - why do you think it's such a bad idea?

I don't think, that this is a bad idea. But like you said - If nobody want's to help, it will not happen. I would say, that with timeslip's engine tweask and a special filter, this could be possible, but it seems that nobody from us can do this (without help).

It's not so difficult.
Here is a tutorial to make Blur Shader:

Yes, but blur isn't rain or a sand storm.

Quick and dirty rain mod here. Make sure sfall is set to use graphics mode 4 or 5, and you have a sm2 capable video card.

It spams rain over the dialog menus. Not really fixable with the current sfall, because there's no script functions to tell you if there's a dialog on screen.

AMESOME

Thx a lot Timeslip. i hope you will work more at this(like a screapt or a ddl to control this, because i think rain is very rare in the westerlands ans should not be every day or like this!, i like this very much!

I need some better textures before I can do anything else. I'm useless at making my own, but if someone can provide some tiling rain and snow textures then I'll make a full weather mod.

i will make it...but i cant because in a few days i have some mounth no time and no internet :|

But i hope some one will help you, becasuse a wather system for fallout ist wounderfull!

Hey Timeslip, can you write a little tutorial how to code the fx filters, for sfall? Or is this too much work? Because i will try by my self.

Awesome. Timeslip - you are the best. I'll gladly help making weather
textures. I've already done some tests in Photoshop. Mr Wolna - we should work together on this.

yay. :)

I need textures for various densities of rain, ranging from drizzle to a downpour. (4 different textures should do; I can blend between them.) Snow is going to be a bit harder to do because it doesn't fall in a straight line. It'll probably need an animated texture, so start with rain first.

There's already more than enough shader tutorials around without me needing to write any more. This one looks the most relevant.

Awesome. I'll PM you with a few questions & suggestions.

I've updated the demo. It now has variable weather and a region system that lets you specify the chances of rain on each map. It also disables itself on the character screen/load screen/pipboy etc.

There's still only rain at the moment, although it does get heavier or lighter as time progresses. I'll work on multiple weather types next.

Edit: I've left a lot of debugging comments in the script, so sorry if the console gets a bit spammy. :P

This thread is very promising, guys. A bit crazy too, but mostly promising.

Holy hell, Timeslip, aren't you a Beth coder?

If so, you'd be the most popular Bethguy so far. Anyway, having a skilled Oblivion-lover here is pretty suspicious. :D

Updated again. Now supports multiple weather types; rain, snow and sandstorm atm. Can add others later, if anyone has other ideas. It's still just a demo, so the console is still just as spammy. sfall 1.28 is required. (And I apoligize in advance for the awful snow/sandstorm textures. That's what happens when I try and make them myself. :P)

If someone has a lot of spare time, could you go through maps.txt and add an entry in weather.ini for each of them? There's only weather in arryo and the den in this release.

I've got quite a few morrowind/oblivion mods out, if that's what you mean.

Nice progress. I am really interested in sandstorms. But again a stupid question... is Dx9 required?

Yup. It uses shaders, so sfall needs to be in graphics mode 4 or 5.

And it isn't possible to use other shaders, so Dx9 mode isn't needed? Because, I would like to use it, but I can't get Dx9 to work on my Ubuntu PC and on Windows 2000/ XP it runs only slow.

I made some quick snow like effect:

nonamedh4.gif

I can change intensity, speed, wind direction, etc. Animation is "jumping", since there's no any "connection" between first and last frame...

Good stuff Continum, and well timed.
I made a snow texture for Timeslip ...
but it was crappy! Your's is sweet.
This was on the list to do and now i can
cross it off. :)
