Red Dead Redemption 2

I hope it's nothing like what you want.

I, honestly, just hope it's not "Grand Theft Stallion."

John Marston is one of the best video protagonists of all time with an actual story and characterization. One which ended tragically and beautifully. I remember Ashley Burch talking about how it didn't work for her because she played Evil John. :)

I used to think the abolitionists were good people but... well, thanks to this brief discussion I did some research and many were the equivalent of lynch mobs, breaking laws and beating up anyone who supported slavery or wanted to bring escaped slaves back.

America has a history of vigilantism. Our history begins with rising up against tyranny and it will almost certainly end with it. The law is a social construct which is one which has no innate moral authority just because a majority (or even a minority agree with it) agree with it. Fundamentally, each man must be true to his own conscience and decide whether to stand up against what he perceives as evil or not.

In the end, killing a man who is trying to take a slave back is stopping a kidnapping. It's only the law which says it's wrong. Then again, I don't pretend fighting oppression is all sunshine and GI Joe Cartoons. "Good" people get killed in the process and the reprocussions echo through society.

Usually both sides of an conflict have some dirt on them. (coughcoughuselections2016cough)

About Red Dead, though:

Want:
  • Game to be in Wild West (duh).
  • Game to have revolvers and lever action rifles (double duh).
  • UNPOPULAR OPINION but more gambling mini-games because I have a crippling addiction to those and like to get caught cheating just to duel people.
Don't want:
  • Dragged out storyline (RDR had a problem with this).
  • Most main characters from RDR, exception given to maybe a few side character cameos here and there. I want something new (Probably not gonna get it though, promo art looks suspiciously like Marston's old gang).

I want to see Landon Rickets as one of the protagonists.

If not THE protagonist.

I like the idea of playing through the massacre which made him famous.

I want to see a game in Colonial Africa... DLC perhaps? If only they had balls.

That was actually a DLC of Borderland 2.

Or as close as you could get away with.

You and your Black Big Game Hunter British Noble friend kill the Natives, kill the wildlife, and get worshiped as gods.

:)

I want a serious DLC, not a shitty shooting corridor with subpar humor.
An RPG set in Darkest Africa... my dream.

You have no class. Imagine, you're an European explorer, or Black tribal, or Arab slaver from Zanzibar, or ex slave Rugga Rugga...

It's a setting that hasn't really been explored in many games. Could very well be interesting, based on that merit alone, but I'm not sure about it being Red Dead DLC.

This is funny in the same way that Hatred was; not because the game itself looks funny (or even good), but because this is presented as a legitimate game. Especially with that music choice.

There were many abolitionist that were good people but every group has their bad eggs and extremist. Such is fault of human nature.
Anyway back to RDR2. I have high hopes for this game. I could go on about why I love westerns. The music, the setting, the story lines they use, the grittiness, the violence, the fact that men were men and unapologetic for it and women where tough working gals who proved that they were as tough as the guys instead of demanding special treatment cuz vagina. I always wonder why more games don't take place in a western setting. It is sadly on of the most underused settings in gaming.

Two words.
Colonial Africa.
Talk about an underused setting with insane potential.
We will sadly never see a game that takes place in that setting. It would trigger the ever loving fuck out of SJW's in the likes that we well ever see.

I can already picture the videos and articles that Anita, Wu and other would make about how racist and sexist that game is.
