Russia attacks Ukraine

Even if Kiev falls and all of Ukraine get occupied. A NATO backed insurgency with current tech is not something nice for Russia.

No it is not. It means the US gets to be the good guy again a little which is a nice change of pace.

This is probably not fake with the chaos on the battlefield and full generals being capped.
I guess I won't feel bad when any Russian soldiers are killed now...even if it is not true I will believe it because their war is stupid and they are stupid and should flee Russia to Georgia if at all possible.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that Russia will insist that "unfriendly countries" pay for Russian natural gas exports only in rubles going forward, according to reports.

Putin told Russian government officials that a number of Western countries made "illegitimate decisions on the so-called freezing of the Russian assets," which he claims has resulted in a line being crossed "over reliability of their currencies" and has undermined the trust for those currencies, The Associated Press reported.

The Kremlin leader added that it "made no sense" to supply Russian goods to the European Union and the United States and receive payment in euros, dollars and a number of other currencies.

However, Russia will continue to supply natural gas in accordance with volumes and prices fixed in previously concluded contracts, Reuters added, citing Putin.

Russia provides about 40 percent of Europe's natural gas and has previously threatened to withhold the natural gas it supplies to Europe in response to Western sanctions over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Russia released a list of so-called "unfriendly" countries, which include the U.S., members of the European Union, Britain, Japan, Canada, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and Ukraine, Reuters said.

Putin's statement comes weeks after the European Union announced a plan to cut its reliance on Russian natural gas by two-thirds this year, and get off Russian fossil fuels entirely by the end of the decade.

Putin is expected to attend the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday.

Please for once do us a solid CIA and poison this prick on Wednesday. Odin would approve.

Who's to say Navalny won't take over if Putin goes away? He is the second most visible and popular Russian leader in the country, has probably built connections with the west and the oligarchs most likely see him as a good compromise choice to avoid civil war and keep the country stable

As soon as Putin goes away or the war ends, I think the sanctions will stop and Europe will gladly receive that cheap Russian natural gas again. Europe seems to be dead set on their climate goals and the fest of nuclear power does not seem to have been diminished.

We do not want a weakened Russia as Russia has nukes and it only benefits the world to keep the country stable. What we do NOT need is Russia or China for that matter getting too bold and decide they should be an empire too. Too many hegemons is bad.

Geopolitics is a game of kick the can.

It just makes sense. Navalny is palatable to everyone, from ordinary Russians to the oligarchs, to the west. He has major exposure and is not known for trying to relive the past.

He isn't KGB and his thinking wasn't shaped by cold war politics and the ruthlessness of the SU days, a total opposite of Putin. He isn't particularly beholden to the military, security service or the oligarchs, setting him up to be a prime compromise choice Lastly he is incredibly popular with the younger generation who is just now reaching voting age, and with his western appeal, would be the perfect man to move Russia further towards democracy rather than autocracy.

If Russia had an Obama it would be Navalny.

Yeah Navalny might be a good choice, but if you guys think for a second Putin is going to just give up the seat he's held for two decades, dust off his hands and admit he was beaten in an election fair and square you're insane.

He'll probably booby trap his own office chair with a claymore just out of paranoia. It's just historical precedence that people who've held power for long lengths of time aren't known for giving it up easily. Even just a quick look through Roman history can verify such a statement.

I mean he will need to be murdered straight up.

I honestly would just pick a 2-3kg scout rifle instead of assault rifle. Or any lightweight semi-auto.

Not surprising, their higher echelon had already done that in Chechnya during the clusterfuck that was Chechen war. A systemic kidnapping is already happening in such pattern in Ukraine (the local city official), God knows what would happen to least known ordinary citizens.
Heck they even admit the warcrime.

I don't think you're gonna be save even if you bend the knee.

This whole war would gonna change the perception regarding gun laws and right to bear arms. Especially in the country directly bordering with Russia.

Ah, so you are fucking dumb.
Huh? Chill out dude, I have my own reasoning.

Also is that swearing necessary? This is just personal choice.

Isn't that kind of very rude that you also log off not awhile after you left this kind of remark?

Scout rifle? Complete overkill in urban settings. And those are basically the most lightweight semi-autos you can get. With maybe an option of full-auto.
