Pre drone era, the forward observer called in CAS and bombing/artillery runs. He got in there and directed fire. They racked up more kills than any sniper you've read about. None of your sources back that up, just that the previous administration greenlit the use of US weapons inside Kursk post-invasion.
But I get it, the Ukrainians shouldn't have been able to launch such an attack by themself, it's embarrassing as it shows them being able to conduct independent successful operations.
