S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky

STALKER CS: I got to the garbage and the radiation is killing me. I went to Agropon Research (sp?) and I still die due to radiation. The main quest I need to destroy the bandit base I think, or speak to someone in Garbage, but besides that.

What can I do? :(

Do you carry any artefacts on your belt, who are making -2 radiation or something like that? Because, as far as I can remember, there is not that much radiation in garbage and agropop. (At least not on the main routes)

move. there might be anomalies nearby. in the short intervalls i could play cs before my pc crashed i got the impression that they are sometimes very radiactive and quite invisible

I finally found a no headbobbing mod for Stalker: SoC. If anyone is interested then here is the link: http://www.tweakguides.com/STALKER_4.html

The game is still a little blurry when I turn from side to side, but I'm not getting headaches anymore.

I'll probably be reselling it after I complete it. There's some annoyances in the game like people respawning too fast (Oblivion's 3 day respawn has got nothing on Stalker's 3 hour respawns...) and the bodies stay way too long. I wish the animals really would eat them, rather than pretending to do so."hai look! I is a blind doggy and I can drag bodies and go 'nom nom!' but it doesn't really do anything..."

The overall concept is nice but I'm getting really sick and tired of having to rekill those raiders every time I want to go sell stuff. The bodies are really starting to pile up!

Edit: Should I just start a new Stalker: SoC topic?

lolnub.

Don't stick to roads, don't climb radioactive garbage mounds, and don't run. If you notice your geiger counter skyrocket, get out of there immediately and seek passage in places that aren't so heavily radiated, until you've got either solid antirad protection, or artifacts diminishing your radiation level.

Drinking Vodka helps a lot.

On topic, the patch for CS is pretty good, it only crashed once since I started playing with it. A few bugs remain, such as crazy laser-lights-in-rave-party polygons appearing during rainfall.

My first encounter with radiation seemed a bit unfair, but I've pretty much gotten used to it. If you hear that tell-tale clicking noise, then stop, attempt to back up, and stay away. :P

I did have to brave some radiation once to get the contents of a backpack. Nasty stuff. Thankfully I had some vodka to get rid of the rads.

I've noticed the description of the blind dogs says they can tell where anomalies and radiation are, but they don't avoid it like it says they should. I find a lot of dead animals next to anomalies. People sometimes too, but not-so-much.

Also, whirlwind anomalies are scary.

Yeah, I found anomalies and radiation 'scarier' than in the first game. Good thing, too.

I'd keep myself from reselling it at least until I've played Oblivion Lost mod. Seriously.

Okay. I've already downloaded it but I kinda wanted to complete the game first before trying OL. If it keeps being annoying though then I'll just go ahead with OL and start a new game.

Does it fix the problem with fast respawns and slow corpse decay?

Respawns I find to be still the same, though I'm not sure entirely. And I don't think I ever even noticed corpses decaying at all.
But I never was that bothered by it anyway. Hey if respawning isn't realistic, at least corpses are.. :)
But there are other aspects of the game OL makes big improvements I think. Overall I find it to be much more balanced experience. Recommendation to play it on the hardest difficulty I also find to be very true.
Of course I'd suggest finishing vanilla version first, if you can help it. It's still very enjoyable atmospheric experience even without OL.
I found a hard time getting into it at first too, come to think of it.. But once I managed that, I just can't stop playing this game since.

P.S. by the way, if you install OL, don't forget to map "Turn On" button. You may wanna try pushing it when you find a vehicle you can sit in.
Blowouts are fucking awesome too.

Yes, the mod is cool, but I coudn't end the game while playing with it... it's not a bug, but was shitty timing.. I was leaving the power plant and exactly in this moment, a blowout started... so I couldn't complete it because I died soon after that. I also haven't had any healing stuff with me.

Sounds like my experience with the first game when I borrowed that. It had some really cool stuff in there but some problems (weight limit, amount of running back of forth [mostly because of the weight limit], and stamina [mostly because of all of the running back in forth]) and the bugs (damn game crashed way too often which seemed to be fixed by the six or seven patches until you reached the second area) made me decide not to buy it or it's prequel.

Weight limit is not a problem, it's for balance. And vanilla 50kg weight limit (OL has 80kg limit) is enough once you learn to manage your inventory and choose what you need most. Game's difficulty depends alot on what items you choose to have, and I like it.

You don't even need 50kg for equipment, the weight limit is just a hassle for loot (thus money).
