Saddam Hussein captured

Good defense (although it sounds more like they were prosecuting the US than Hussein), which is why the US is pushing for an Iraqi trial instead of a international trial. Maybe he could play off all the international incidents by way of "I was a pawn of the US" defense, but he can't get around the torture and mass murders of thousands of Iraqi citizens as proven by both videos and eyewitness accounts.

Hussein is royally fucked and there's no way around it.

As for killing all terrorists, that is quite a shortsighted solution, as that would only destroy our already injured reputation and increase the terrorist attacks also.

But hey, this is coming from a guy who has made posts so ridiculous that this one is actually well thought out in comparison. I say let the entertainment continue. ;)

Kicking an old thread up. Sorry. I just didn't want to start a new thread on Hussein.

This actually contains all the truth about Saddam, his rise to power, and his fall. Set to a great soundtrack.

Sometimes I feel embarrassed to be American when I see how the government runs foreign poilicy.

I wonder how a goth would be treated in the Middle East. [/unwarranted jab] :P

First, I'd seriously question whether that video was being biased or not. But...

Fucked up things happen in politics, especially when you're on top. It's a machiavelian world and we'd be deluding ourselves to think otherwise. If you don't think that other countries wouldn't do the same thing if they were in our position, then you're being foolish. All super powers throughout history have done many unsavory things, and to say that the US can change such a role would be contrary to common sense.

Biased, I don't think so. It seems to me all those facts brought up in the video are actually true.

Unsavory, sure, I understand things need to be done in that way some times. It's just that the United States seems to be held to a higher standard than the rest of the world some times. For example the same people I see protesting the war in Iraq, were protesting that there was no intervention in Liberia.

YOu do realise that's no actual argument? I get tired of hearing "Well, they wouldn't have done it like that."
So what? Just because people didn't do something, doesn't make it impossible or stupid. If you do think that way, then you should be stuck in the Stone AGe. :P

That's not true. If the USA wanted to, it could do things a lot different. Sure, there are reasons why certain things shouldn't be done, but if they wanted to, they could rather easily act differently.
