Scenery stuff and such...

Nice stuff Conti, but I agree with Lexx, sometimes the contrast needs to be exaggerated slightly to fit in with the harsh Fallout light. I actually like the big front end on the truck (reminds me of the early Mac trucks), if it’s a tanker place a large value on the top of the tanker. If it’s going to be a modified truck you can take the doors off, and place a killer bumper bar on the front end. This reminds me of the old Steve Jackson game “Car Wars”, which I played with my big brother when I was a little kid, in that game you modified the vehicles and drove around a wasteland like Fallout, killing other vehicles – think Death Race 2000, and the 2008 remake Deathrace.

Someone should make a sticky thread with some of the original art, I'm always goddamn lazy to search for it :yuck:

Look how small original truck is. Heretics!

Ardent said:
Also, the driver's compartment + engine seems quite big in comparison with the tank in the back - I mean - a lot of truck, not a lot of cargo.
In the world of walking tanks stretching your bones proportions aren't really important :ugly:

One last thing - would you care to make other directions too? Pretty please. Thanks in advance.
Sorry, source files went to hell. But this isn't a surprise, I guess...

I think the stuff you’re making now Conti is almost spot-on perfect Fallout art…your putting the rest of us to shame. :salute:

The Fallout community might have to chip in and buy you a portable hard drive so this will never happen again…ahaha :wtf:

I think the problem is that it has a big front but a small container.

It's a wonder of retro futuristic technology. IT MUST LOOK WEIRD.

Anyway, I updated my post with another version, where certain amount of highlight has been added to the front. It's moar Fallouty now :salute:

You're giving us an example of original art which obviously is too small even compared to the rest of the original art! You cheat! :naughty:

Anyway, thanks for the truck!

The truck shows pretty much how good all new art should blend in with the original art. :>

I always found the fact that none of the locals ever worked out a way to make the abandoned vehicles work strange. Of course the Highwayman was just a means to travel between A and B, its quicker than walking, so you could change the Highwayman for a Donkey or a bunch a Meerkats (Conti’s favorites) and still achieves the speed increase. I remember when we played Car Wars (building fictional cars with my brother on paper), buying weapons and attaching them to a vehicle was cool, so why can’t we add a couple of Bozars to the front of the Highwayman and cream the enemy as we drive through the desert. Later upgrade the front with a massive spiked bumper bar, maybe cut a hole in the roof and mount a Pulse rifle, etc.

Me? Never! :ugly:

Seriously, for cheating this example is the best - retro futuristic toy car? :ugly:

Also, what that blue-ish car is doing there? It's looking like modern stuff...

Trucks are more or less the same:

The only difference between two on the left and that "small-ish" is the wide. I mean, look how front of the "red-ish" truck is narrow, but height is more or less the same. So it's a design decision obviously.

No problem!

Because some players may start to ask why they can't actually shot from it? :D

Seriously, long time ago I made uber awesome junky vehicle, but without guns:

scr00000.gif

Design cool, but "how it's blend with original artwork" not soo cool.

And no, THIS IS NOT A BATMOBILE.

Let me guess…you threw away the model and textures for the FATMOBILE…(it not pass them to me for a little lookie). :look:

Unfortunately (oh, really?) they went to hell. But I'm re-painting car right now:

Pimp my (b)ride!

Also, I'm planning to jump on another truck
iconsmileheadbang.gif
this time I supplied myself with images of original trucks, so the mesh should look much better than previous one.

Contie found his love for recoloring. Sounds like a good time for new Fallouty graphics. :D

@Cars with guns or guns with cars: I see no real reason to do such a thing, as they wouldn't have any purpose. You can't shoot with it and you can't really influence encounters with it. It would be better, to make upgrades on the car visible, like... uh... motor upgrades or whatever.

I was thinking purely in the practical sense, obviously a single driver couldn’t do much except run you down, but with a bunch of twits riding beside you who knows, of course it’s based on the notion that vehicles could be fueled and repaired on a regular basis…think about those crazy vehicles in Mad Max 2, which were basically hybrids built from typical Aussie cars of the 1970’s. By the way Conti, those highlight make a big difference with the FATMOBILE, I can see a super mutant driving that baby around the desert.

Yup, this one's a killer.

Also, what that blue-ish car is doing there? It's looking like modern stuff...

It's a concept car - the most modern stuff Fallout alternative universe has ever conceived of.

But I'm re-painting car right now:

Woohoo! This is awesome now, all right! :)

Cool! Can't wait to see it! But this time, why don't you upload the source files somewhere? For future generations...

We should make a special vehicle for The Master: Nazi UFO! Flying Vault Overseer's chair with minguns attached to it!

Anyway, WIPie of the truck:

It's a combination of solutions from original trucks + my sick ideas, let's be creative, right?

Will be possible to open the door, the same goes for engine's compartment.

Sure, as long as mesh isn't shitty I'll forward files to Pixote. So far everything is good.

It will be super cool if the vehicle had interactive parts, maybe the tires or engine is missing (a quest to repair it…that sounds familiar). I was thinking of putting a boot on the Highwayman, so when the player interacts with the rear of the car it opens, and when they walk away it closes.

Even if the mesh is a shit box still forward it, that way I can study the design and plan some vehicles myself…(a pink Cadillac with twin Bozars and a spiked bumper bar…yeah baby). That will be the perfect vehicle for the Bald Black Dude.

This sounds awesome. I was thinking about redoing one of the generic scenery cars to have this kind of feature for one of the quests in my mod. Now I won't have to 8-)

It also has to have the boot-jumping feature (or whatever it's called) animation
