Sneak Peek of F:NV Graphic Novel Cover Art

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
Today the Bethesda Blog is hosting a sneak peek of the cover art for the Fallout:New Vegas graphic novel along with the announcement of the artists.

The Collector’s Edition of Fallout: New Vegas will come packed with all kinds of excellent extras — not the least of which is “All Roads,” a hardcover graphic novel written by New Vegas creative director Chris Avellone that acts as a prequel to the game.

Today we’re announcing that comic icon Geof Darrow — best known for contributing art to Hard Boiled, Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot and The Matrix films — has put his considerable talents to work on a cover for “All Roads,” with Peter Doherty providing colors. The graphic novel also features art by Jean Diaz (Incorruptible) and Wellinton Alves (Marvel’s Shadowland: Blood on the Streets, Nova).

In fact if you are a dedicated enough fan and were planning to visit Comic-con you can get a signed lithograph.

You can check out a small slice of Darrow and Doherty’s large-scale, dual-page piece above. For a closer look at the bigger picture, you’ll need to head down to Comic-Con, where Darrow and Avellone will be handing out signed “All Roads” lithographs at the Dark Horse Comics booth. Here are all the relevant details:

Both Geof Darrow and Chris Avellone will be signing special lithographs featuring the full cover art at the Dark Horse booth (Booth #2615) at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Saturday, July 24 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

Thanks to Ausir of The Vault for the report.

That's a pretty busy and... brown cover art. I'm not sure that is the cover art, it wouldn't make sense for it to be. Doesn't draw you in. Then again, it's just a sneak peak, and it's not like this is going to be competing on a book store shelf.

I need to see more of the picture in fact probably read the novel before judging, but yes I do think that street scene has too many people. Makes the world look too busy and full. Of course who knows it could be center city main street in Vegas and that wouldn't be out of reason.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

The cover part style pretty much reminds me of Hard Boiled. In the comic, you could see such crowded scenes as well.

Well, it's the same artist, so no wonder. And it's just a fragment of the whole picture.

..Luke.. I am your Father...

I also heard that Obsidian will be at Comic-Con on July 23rd to talk about writing characters for video games.

Considering how "busy" towns in FO3 were...

Man such a crowded street, you would think after a couple of hundred years they would know not to walk near and/or sit on cars. The slightest breeze could see the entire street wiped out.

^^^^

Took me a moment for I got it, the easily exploding nuclear cars.

Wouldn't they have those removed from the streets by now?

If you think about it, strategically placed exploding cars are a good defence. If they are placed just right, you can nuke the town if the situation is fubar. Like a savage self destruct system. Or they can use them for demolition. Or for fireworks. Or for traps. Or for executions. Or for trading.

Peanuts when compared with my work. Cool

I will give you that, Alec. I like your work much better.

Oh Fuck Yes.

By the way, you guys are aware that the original Fallout was heavily inspired by Darrow's work on Hard Boiled, yesno?

By the way, this would be a good time to re-include the original 10mm pistol from Fallout 1 and 2. :>

Lexx mentioned it before…after looking through Frank Miller’s Hard Boiled comic I realize that there still a lot of fine things in there that could be ripped from the illustrations and flipped into the Fallout world – weapons – vehicles – buildings – it’s a modders delight…Seriously I’m more interested in the book than the game. If anyone buys the collectors addition can they scan the book for the people of NMA…pretty please. :look:

I wonder if the streets will ever be that busy, or if they'll stay as empty as the videos we've seen.

Oblivion / Fallout 3's engine can't handle lots of people all together.
